Live on Broadway, the New York Times calls it "the best musical of the century." The Washington Post says, "It is the kind of evening that restores your faith in musicals." And Entertainment Weekly says, "Grade A: the funniest musical of all time." Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show calls it "Genius. Brilliant. Phenomenal." It's The Book of Mormon, the nine-time Tony Award®-winning Best Musical. See it on Broadway today!
absolutely hilarious show - i could watch over and over again and not get sick of it!
This play was so funny and it was so great to laugh. It's a shame people take things so personal.
If you’re looking for a laugh this is the show to see.
I did not expect to laugh as much as I did. It was so funny I didn’t want it to end! Will definitely see it again!!
Besides the always too tight seating in the mezzanine and insufficient restroom stalls for women - which is the same in very theater in New York - the experience itself was incredible. We're still not sure how to absorb it all because most of the mockery of the religion is based on the "truth" of its own teachings. The underlying messages of love, tolerance and bringing truth to power did come across quite clearly. I'd go back and see it again!
If you are very religious and have no sense of humor, I’d go to the Lion King😊
Had tickets towards the top of the dress circle and was worried that we might be too far to see/hear but needn't have worried at all. Great view of the stage and no problem hearing either. I wasn't sure what to expect from the show as I knew very little about it but thoroughly enjoyed the music/ songs and the unusual storyline. It was fun and funny, although more sensitive theatre patrons may find the humour a bit distasteful. However, I thought it was brilliant and enjoyed it tremendously.
This show is a story filled with satire, realism and laughter. It is not meant for the easily offended. I suggest reading about the topics discussed in a vulgar and informative way before viewing. I found the cast captivating with their amazing voices and acting. I would watch again!
Hilariously irreverent! High energy performances by all. This is a don't miss show!
I have a great sense of humor but I am usually not the guy who laughs out loud, but this play was truly very, very funny and I did find myself bellowing with laughter through most of it. I would warn potential theater goers that if you are easily offended, this is not the play for you. My college son found it raunchy. It goes far beyond irreverent but it was one of the best Broadway shows I've seen in a long time and my wife and I go frequently. Eugene O'Neill Theater was a great venue. They opened the doors at least an hour before the show so we didn't have to stand on the usual around the block line. Ushers were warm and welcoming. A great experience!!!!
I knew nothing about the show prior to arriving, but man am I glad I went! This show is hilarious! I don’t think I stopped laughing the entire time.
A raunchy, hilarious, irreverent romp that sends up organized religion as it shows that it's not what you believe - it's how. I went with my daughter, a professional musical theatre performer, and it surpassed our ridiculously high standards. Never stopped laughing; loved every second! Go see it!
I completely enjoyed the experience. The songs are great and the humor while a little raunchy was perfect for me as a fan of South Park.
Lets start with your seating really make a big difference if in middle in front or way in back thats a good thing most side seats exeption of isle seats are just bad your neck starts to hurt. About play- good play not great if you are touchy about religion dont go!!! Its all about making fun of religion mormon in particular very talented people but some of the African scenes cant under stand some of the words or words in the singing but overall wortg going pic your seats wisely. Enjoy the show.
My husband and I have been wanting to see this show for a long time. We finally got the tickets, and we had a ball! We found the show to be hilarious, and the cast was excellent We also had great seats (Center mezzanine).
Saturday matinees cast had energy. The songs were good. It was a little difficult at times to understand the accents put on by the African American cast. Otherwise we thought it was funny but certainly not to the extent people were saying. The language didn’t offend us. We’ve certainly seen funnier, laugh out loud shows like ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’.
The show was so well done. The actors and performers were top-notch - as good as any broadway show I’ve ever seen. The production (music, stage/set, choreography, etc.) was phenomenal. Overall it’s a great musical. The only thing I would add is that it is contemptuous toward Mormonism (shocker), but there are some themes that are broadly dismissive of religion in general; this is okay, but it can be problematic for those yet unsure of their own religious belief.
It is the most irreverent yet entertaining show we’ve ever seen. We will never forget The Book of Mormon because we laughed until we cried throughout the entire production.
Fabulous show as a recovering Mormon I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The show was fantastic. It was not only very funny, but the music was wonderful and the sets were well done. The theater encountered technical difficulties, and had to extend the intermission. My biggest complaint would be that as with most theaters on Broadway, the space is small and leg room is painfully inadequate.
