About

The Office! A Musical Parody

The beloved mockumentary reaches a new level of laughs with The Office! A Musical Parody. Fans of the television series will be happy to know that all their favorite characters are on board, as are some key plot elements. When the original British version of The Office premiered in 2001, it brought something completely new to television comedy. Sure, sitcoms had lampooned office culture before, but never with the cringe-inducing level of awkwardness that creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant allowed their characters to display. Then the American Office became an enormous hit series -- and a comedy landmark. In the hands of writers Bob and Tobly McSmith, the stage version adds an unexpected tuneful touch that takes things to another place entirely, and the outrageousness lives on.

The Office! A Musical Parody History

The British send-up of dysfunctional workplace life that was broadcast on BBC from 2001 through 2003 became such a success in America that it couldn't help but inspire a US version. Premiering in 2005, the American Office, starring Steve Carell, lasted for an amazing nine seasons. When Bob and Tobly McSmith took the stateside sitcom series and created a theatrical version, the pair had already let their satirical minds loose on musical takeoffs of everything from Friends to Full House, so by the time they tackled The Office, they were fully primed. But this is far from just a stage re-creation. As a musical parody, the production mines the medium for even more comic gold -- and gives you something to hum on the way home. Whether you're a die-hard fan of the series or getting introduced to the characters for the first time, The Office! A Musical Parody will prove that however insane your own workplace may seem to you, it's comparatively a whole lot more normal than you may think.

If you’re a fan of the office, you will not be disappointed. The cast had great energy and brilliant comedic timing. Squeezing the best of 9 series into 2 hours was amazing. Loved it 😂⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not funny, too expensive, chairs are broken, waste of time.

  • A bit disappointed

The decision not to cast an African American actor in the iconic role of Stanley really diminished my enjoyment of the show. While I have nothing against the actress playing Michael, I still wish it was played by a man Jim, Dwight, Meredith, and Angela embraced their roles wholeheartedly and knocked it out the park. What they did with Oscar was a travesty. Honestly, if I had considered the casting choices more carefully beforehand, I would have skiped the show altogether.

Run, don’t walk, to this hilarious musical. These performers slayed! The gal who played Michael Scott NAILED IT! I was rolling with laughter. The guy who played Dwight-OMG, so funny. Actually this entire group was spot on. This was an awesome way to spend an evening in NYC. Do not hesitate to buy your tickets. Well worth it if you are an Office and musical fan. BRAVO!

  • Great, funny, suprising

As in the title, it was really great show. They've managed to put almost every significant pun, person, meme or gag in the show. And they did it also through the songs! I recommend it every office fan out there!

The show was great! All the actors did a phenomenal job! The play was funny and cute and sweet and if you loved The Office, I think you'll really enjoy this production. We laughed the whole time and were blown away at how truly GREAT all the actors were in the show. We'd see it, or any of the other shows next time we're in NYC.

My first time going to see a play and I had one of the greatest experiences. Actors were great and the show was awesome, even though they did have the show in sequence order they still have a great nod to all the major hysterical moments from the show. My wife and I enjoyed it so much and can’t wait to go back. Drinks were a little expensive but overall great vibe.

This show was well cast and written. I laughed from the moment it started until long after it ended. The show covered a long timeline and lots of special moments from the show in a very clever way! 10/10, go see it!

  • The Office 2024

We have traveled to NYC several times and have watched the more popular broadway musical's. We went to the Office Musical b/c our kids love the office and it got some pretty solid reviews. I didn't know much other than this was about the Office. The theater is small and there is not a bad seat in the house and all make you feel like a part of the cast. They did a great job to portray the main character's and themes of the Office. There is no way to go into depth as much as they need but they did a great job to hit the high points and keep it lively and funny. I would recommend to any Office enthusiast. If you aren't familiar with the Office, this may not be for you.
