About

Disney’s ALADDIN is a dazzling and extravagant showcase of special effects — including a flying magic carpet during “A Whole New World” — as well as glittering-gold costumes and art deco-style sets that mirror the grandeur of a Busby Berkeley musical. One of Broadway’s most popular musical comedies, the show opened at the legendary New Amsterdam Theatre on March 20, 2014, and has since broken numerous house records (grossing over $500 million on Broadway). Eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken composed the show’s music. The lyrics are by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), as well as three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice and six-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin. The book is by Beguelin and direction/choreography is by two-time Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw.

    Amazing show & great performances!

by Dutch family on 5/4/24New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

Great experience, nice performances and costumes of the players, impressive live music from the orchestra and the most amazing story. Also a lot of fun with the genie!! Worth seeing while you’re in New York!

    Okay, but...

by C&J on 5/3/24New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

It would have been better if we were able to see the center of the stage. We were in the center of the messanine. The seats were not staggered, so we sat directly behind very tall people and could never see the main action on center stage. The costumes, singing, acting and special affects were great. The story was okay. But we lost so much of the enjoyment by trying to see around tall folks in front.

    BEYOND AMAZING

by Kimmy on 5/2/24New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

First musical experience for me. Atmosphere of the theater, staffs' behavior, musical itself, applause and laugh...everything was beautiful and wonderful, I was just like in a happy dream. Can't forget everything, this experience made my trip luminous. I'm so happy and satisfied with seeing Aladdin after such a long trip from Japan.

    Small crew, lazy 2nd half

by Andy on 5/1/24New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

The first half was funny, the second was, well, boring. There was a quite small crew and same rasta-hair-style fellow acted many parts and the illusion suffered as you could see the same person is acting also that character. In the end the actor of Aladdin begged money for charity. For European that was embarrasing: we already bought overpriced tickets for what we got. This was my 4th musical experience in Broadway and must say that the magic of it is disappearing - quality is coming down or quality elsewhere is improving. London’s West End is simply better.

    Parking Nightmare

by Rob T on 4/28/24New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

The show was amazing BUT I would highly discourage anyone from prebooking any parking option through Ticketmaster! We were assigned a valet parking lot at City Parking 1515 Broadway which was a nightmare. We prepaid thru Ticketmaster so we were forced to use this garage. Everybody arrived at the same time and left at the same time. With only four attendants working, the check in line was so slow we missed the first 15 minutes of our show. Picking up our car after the show took over an hour.
