Live on Broadway, the New York Times calls it "the best musical of the century." The Washington Post says, "It is the kind of evening that restores your faith in musicals." And Entertainment Weekly says, "Grade A: the funniest musical of all time." Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show calls it "Genius. Brilliant. Phenomenal." It's The Book of Mormon, the nine-time Tony Award®-winning Best Musical. See it on Broadway today!

The best way to describe it is to say it's like the Southpark movie. Bigger, longer, uncut. Unfortunately better isn't in the title for a reason. For whatever reason, in my opinion, the writers seem to really struggled when they can swear indescrimately and half to fill more than 30 minutes. Just so you know the blasphemy was not my issue just didn't find much humour in it.
We were not sure how we would like this play but we had heard it was hilarious. It lived up to it's reputation and we were glad that we came to see it. I would recommend this to anyone and actually had given my daughter and boyfriend tickets for Christmas. They saw it before us and thought it was great.
The talent in this play is incredible, the songs catchy and the play moves along very well. The only caveat is to know that a) it's a farce - I know there were people around us who didn't realize this and b) there's a LOT of profanity. Once you get past that they play is a riot.
This was our first Broadway play, and it was everything it was billed as and more. We had great seats, and it was an awesome atmosphere. It's been months since I laughed like that, and we had a great time, as did basically all of the audience.
This has to be the funniest musical I've ever seen, funny and irreverent, great songs and great acting.
Wow! What an amazing show! I laughed so hard my cheeks were hurting!!
A fantastic production. I never laughed so much. Not for all the family as a lot of profanities, but very cleverly written and delivered by a fantastic cast. cant wait to see it again to catch the bits I missed through laughing so much.
We've been wanting to see the Book of Mormon for over two years. Finally saw it and it was worth the wait. We did not stop laughing the entire time. So, so funny.
The show was very funny with thought provoking ideas on several levels. I thought the first act was boring since the humor consisted largely of poking fun at young male Mormon "missionaries" sent out to proselytize non-Mormons, along with some sophomoric gay jokes and innuendos. The second act pulled the whole thing together starting with a very funny scene where a "missionary" whose concept of doing such work centered on doing it in Orlando, Florida near Disney World had a dream that he had been consigned to hell. This was followed by an outrageously funny scene in which Africans who had been converted put on a demonstration for the senior Mormon in charge of all African missionary work, in which they exhibited their understanding of Mormon doctrine (quite at odds with conventional Mormon doctrine) which prompted them to be baptized. The show can variously be seen as (1) ridiculing Mormonism,or (2) ridiculing religion in general, or (3) defending religious belief as necessary and spiritually uplifting when properly placed in the perspective of the believer. A serious side-issue was a general condemnation of genital mutilation. The show is not for those who can't take a lot of vulgarity (the "F" word is used often and throughout the show). If one doesn't find that to be a problem, the show is an outrageously funny performance with some thought provoking ideas.
Not a moment of boredom! When the curtain close, you never want to leave. Book of Mormon was incredible in its music, dialogue and unapologetic humor all around. A must watch—not for the faint hearted / easily offended tho.
My first Broadway play for my husband's birthday and it was awesome. We haven't laughed that much in a long time. It was a great time in the city. Be warned that the language is quite colorful. We didn't realize it although we weren't offended.
Still hysterically funny! Saw some understudies who were wonderful! This show is so refreshingly original. We need more of these!
We had been looking forward to seeing this for a couple of years and were really disappointed. We had a good idea of what it was about and what to expect but the show didn't deliver. It started out well but the Uganda storyline was awful and not funny. We wanted to like it but in the end, we didn't.
Heard some great reviews of this musical but never believed it would be as good as it was. Hysterical from beginning to end! You will not be disappointed!
The show was outstanding. We actually went not knowing what it was about and absolutely loved it!!! The story was great and the humor was even better!
The show is a wonderful commentary on mankind's need to believe! Your story, my story. It is wonderfully put together, actors are great, songs are very good. Lots of nuances, you need to pay attention.
It wasn't anything special, I'm not sure why everyone is so amazed by the show. Yea it had jokes but they were not that funny and I was a little annoyed at how expensive the tickets were. I truly don't understand why it received 9 Tony Awards.
Oddly enough, this play is not blasphemous at all. It describes, quite accurately, through music, the actual beliefs & writings of the Mormons. It is wonderfully staged, sung & danced. All the actors & band were fantastic. BTW, General Butt Bare Naked, is a REAL person!! The sound system at times was too loud & not entirely clear when "God" or "Moroni" were speaking.
First off I am a huge South Park fan. I also love comedy especially edgy comedy like Jim Norton, Patrice O'Neal, Anthony Jeselnik, and Amy Schumer. I am not religious. I haven't been inside a church except for weddings and funerals for 30 years. I am not easily offended. That being said - I just didn't find this funny. There were funny parts and funny characters but in general I really just didn't find much funny about it. Dropping F-bombs or using words for male and female genitalia are just not funny by themselves. It lacked the cleverness of South Park. The shock value of hearing these things on a Broadway stage just wasn't enough for me. The theater is the worst. The seats are jammed together and your views are obstructed by the people in front of you. All in all for the money spent it was a horribly disappointing experience.
