Irreverently funny!
by pazi on 3/9/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Saw this five years ago with original cast and LOVED IT!! Was not disappointed with new cast, one bit!! I was worried that no one could measure up to Andrew Rannells as Elder Price but my fears were unfounded. Nic Rouleau was adorbs and I thought Christopher John O'Neill as Elder Cunningham was even better than Josh Gad. Overall the cast is superb and the script, music and choreography is outstanding! The sacrilegious nature of one of the "big songs" was a bit off-putting, both times I've seen the show. All other songs are clever and funny and help to support the overall message of the show. FAVE songs: "Hello", "Turn it Off" and "I Believe". The show uses humor to question the absurdities and inconsistencies within organized religions, in general and Mormonism, specifically.
