  • Bummer

I thought this show would make me laugh throughout and wow me. It did not. It did have high energy, but most humor was dependent upon vulgar gross language and cheap shots at religion. I found Altar Boys much funnier and better written and with higher energy. Expected better from a musical that cost me $425 for two orchestra seats. The Playbill didn't even have a listing of scenes, acts, musical numbers! I have never attended a Broadway show that did not provide this helpful information. Then they topped it off by asking for donations to Broadway Cares. I suggest these highly paid performers, musicians, producers etc. give one nights profits to their cause and leave the public alone. This musical simply is not worth the ticket price.

The Book of Mormon was hilarious! The entire cast (and orchestra!) put on a great performance. The set was well thought out as well; the transitions were seamless.

  • Well done, but crude

by Flamencadancer on 4/2/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

This play is not recommended for those with delicate sensibilities. It is sacrilegious, irreverent, and crude, but nonetheless hilarious. The acting, the music, the dancing are all superb! If one can get beyond the crudeness, there is even an overall message in the end.

  • Best production I have ever seen

by Anonymous on 4/1/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I am not even a theater person, but I feel compelled to write this review because the Book of Mormon was so amazing. I've been thinking about it for days. I was cracking up the whole time and the music was so catchy.

  • Laughing out loud every second of the show

by IrisPetra on 3/31/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely loved the show. Was hesitant going in, as I am not a big fan of Southpark. The show blew me away. Every single word was spot on, as for the choice of actors, songs, stage setting, etc. Am already looking for tickets to go a second time. Really worthwhile and by far one of the best shows I've seen. Ever.

  • Overrated

Seen many on Broadway as a New York native... The reviews on this were beyond intriguing yet I was underwhelmed... Few funny moments but I don't think it lived up to the hype... Interesting and original story but wasn't the must see play I thought I was going to get. And plays are very expensive so I would like to be blown away when I go and I was wasn't.

  • Too Much Hype

by Douglassgirl on 3/30/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

I wasn't that impressed with The Book of Mormon. I think that because I waited so long to see it, the prices were so high, and the hype was so huge that I was expecting more. It was ok. I would recommend seeing it to be in the conversation about it because of its status on Broadway.

  • Amazing

A show for everyone, well everyone that does not mind a little rudeness as the language is quite colourful !! Even if you are not someone that enjoys Broadway Musicals you should see this show as it is just a very funny and well written musical.

  • Extremely talented crew

Witty plot. Excellent performers. Fun. But dress warm it is cold breeze in room.

I wasn't too sure about this musical before I got there. But after watching it, I've bought the soundtrack and planning to go back to NYC just to see it again.

  • WONDERFULLY FUNNY! ONE OF A KIND!

by SamicaLegRub on 3/27/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I'm a huge fan of South Park so I was really looking forward to this show. I'm not a big Broadway fan, but this show I absolutely enjoyed and will definitely go see it again. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Had me laughing from beginning to end.

  • Lotta fun from the Mezzanine

by JayPeach on 3/25/16Eugene O’Neill Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Highlight #2 from my two-day junket in The Big Apple. Went to see "The Book of Mormon." The show has had five years of positive buzz, but I wondered how that could be sustained with a book that includes much fun poked at a particular religion and an endlessly repeated joke about maggots in a scrotum. Well, the crassness and irreverence is gleeful, but the Broadway song-and-dance talent overwhelmed any misgivings about it. The performance of Nikki Renee Daniels is a standout -- what a powerful voice! The trick of the show is that it borrows the theme of "The Music Man," in which Prof. Harold Hill plays a musical charlatan who nevertheless wins love and honor by convincing the rubes of River City Iowa to dream big. "The Book of Mormon" jabs at Utah's holy scripture as sharply as Salman Rushdie skewered The Koran in his novel "The Satanic Verses." But unlike Rushdie, the Broadway show ends with everything turning out OK, even after the Ugandan village that replaces River City generates a creation tale even stranger than Joseph Smith's original.

  • So much fun!

Book of Mormon had us from the start--great cast, excellent singing and dancing and fantastic story--best thing on Broadway (unlike Hamilton you can follow the lyrics!)
