  • Anywhere within a days drive

by Joneno on 8/29/22Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I will go see the iconic Ricky Lee Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder anywhere within a day trip driving distance. BCMC is a great sounding venue and within a 3 minute walk of the Quality Inn where I stayed. Ricky and the band were just priceless as usual. Only one thing could be changed as far as I am concerned. The light show. They don’t need it but I understand it’s near impossible to do without one. However being on the front row the lights swinging up down and around pointed directly into my eyes repeatedly during several difficult occasions and I had to put a ball cap on to shield my eyes. That is the only detractor and it in no way spoiled my enjoyment of the event. The light show guys should dim the lights and sit in the front row/rows and see must how bright and how much those lights shine directly into their eyes and make some adjustments.

Loved the playing with excellence the entire band and shared faith. I made new friends on the left and right couples from New York and Indianapolis such a warm environment

  • Amazing show!

by Phil on 8/29/22Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder put on a phenomenal show. I think I saw some smoke coming off their fingertips at some parts. The Brown County Music Center has excellent acoustics and because it is small it feels more intimate. The only thing that knocked a star off our experience was that someone in the box office resold our seats to another couple buying tickets day-of-show and they were sitting in them when we arrived. We had picked out our ideal seats (front row of balcony) months before in the presale so we were not about to be relocated. Thankfully they found the other couple some different seats just before the show began. Still not sure where the miscommunication was but it was strange.

  • Love the show.

Can’t get any better than Ricky playing bluegrass.

Ricky is the best mandolin player we have ever seen, he put on another’s great show! We have seen him several times over the years and have never been disappointed!

  • Best Concert Ever!!!

by Kim Abbett on 7/5/22Capital Region MU Health Care Amphitheater - Jefferson CityRating: 5 out of 5

Ricky and his band are absolutely amazing!!! They literally mesmerized me! My boyfriend didn’t really want to go to the concert but went because I wanted him to. He loved it and is now a fan, too! I do wish he would’ve played more of his older songs but he could sing the phone book and it would sound great….I love Ricky!!! Best concert I’ve been to since I saw him about 35 years ago!!! Please come back soon, Ricky!!!!

  • Excellent Concert

    by M. H. on 6/27/22Montgomery Performing Arts Centre - MontgomeryRating: 5 out of 5

We really enjoyed Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. The only problem we had was the tickets we had were in the Balcony which was closed. However, the staff relocated us to even better seats on the main floor..

  • This show was AMAZING!! Each musician was so talented.

  • Excellent Concert

by LF on 6/27/22Montgomery Performing Arts Centre - MontgomeryRating: 4 out of 5

The ticket process is different. Being older, I am use to paper tickets. It is a learning curve. The security personnel were professional and friendly. The vendor selling Ricky Skaggs was super nice and helpful. We purchased water at the concession stand. Water temperature could have been colder. Escorts to seats were professional and helpful. Seats do not have enough leg room for others who are trying to get to their middle seats. Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder was absolutely awesome! I enjoyed all of the performance, especially the gospel songs. My husband and I enjoyed this two hours concert and we are ready for them to be back soon. I would recommend his concerts to others. Thank you for bringing great talent to our local area.

  • It was good

by bjzeyez on 6/27/22Montgomery Performing Arts Centre - MontgomeryRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was very good, Ricky Skaggs is a talented artist. However, I was extremely disappointed when he did not sing 3 of his biggest hits "Honey Won't You Open That Door" "Country Boy" and "Highway 40 Blues". He did play a 2 hour show with no opener. I would recommend seeing him.

  • Incredible

    by P. J. on 6/27/22Montgomery Performing Arts Centre - MontgomeryRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was incredible. Ricky and the band came out shortly after 7pm and played for two hours, without an intermission. We were extremely impressed when Ricky introduced each member of the band, he showcased them by allowing them an opportunity to introduce a song they wrote and/or be the lead in a song. This all acoustic concert was phenomenal. The three-hour drive was totally worth it.

  • Great concert!

by Mindy on 6/22/22Kansas Star Event Center Arena - MulvaneRating: 5 out of 5

Loved Ricky and the band. The only complaint was the chairs on the floor are to close together. Not comfortable.

  • Ricky in Wichita

by Ray on 6/21/22Kansas Star Event Center Arena - MulvaneRating: 5 out of 5

Bucket list. Ricky is the REAL DEAL. When he cut loose with Uncle Pen I wanted to jump up and dance. Appreciated that he introduced each of Kentucky Thunder. What a talented bunch of guys. I was touched by the young man's testimony, and pray that he will grow stronger in the Lord with each passing day. Glad to see something with no politics and no profanity. God bless Ricky Skaggs.

  • Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder!

    by A. Lara on 6/21/22Rating: 5 out of 5

Every Single One ... of those Kentucky Thunder musicians were astonishing and so darn talented! The show was emotional on so many levels. It was Father's Day and was missing my dad. Wanted him to sing 'Someone's Praying', but me (and most of the audience) would have been a puddle of tears! I was already teared up wishing my mom was there. but I took her sister which was the next best thing. The sound was great, the seats were great at the Kansas Star Event Center. Did a little gambiling afterwards. Walked out with .23 cents! Whoop Whoop. But those fingers were ** FLYING ***. I had to take a video in 'slo mo' just to see what was happening! Always love when Ricky Skaggs comes to KANSAS. Last time I saw him was at The Historic Orpheum in Wichita. You're Welcome back anytime!

  • Ricky Skaggs awesome concert

  • Gifted Musicians

by Mickam on 6/21/22Kansas Star Event Center Arena - MulvaneRating: 5 out of 5

2 hours straight of these gifted guys called Kentucky Thunder, and Ricky Skaggs, a master. 6 musicians playing mandolin, guitars, fiddle, base, banjo and madolin. We knew Ricky was great but each performer show-casing their creativity & talent was a surprise. Go.. you won't be sorry!

  • Great performance, venue parking and seating could be a bit

by TR on 6/21/22Capital Region MU Health Care Amphitheater - Jefferson CityRating: 3 out of 5

Parking was interesting. Make sure you get there early for close parking. Ended up following the herd to park. The attendent was sitting on the curb and when asked to verify where to park, he said he didn't know. Of course the enterance lines takes much time to wand each person, check folding chairs, and obtain wrist bands (if you plan on purchasing alcoholic beverages). The event attendee directed us to sit in the lawn area when we actually paid to sit in the terrace area. By the we realized the mistake, the terrace areas were full. After the show started, we observed several people with lawn tickets moving to the terrance area with no one checking/verifying tickets.
