by Serenole on 5/28/23Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium - ShreveportRating: 5 out of 5

My first concert in the "Cradle of Country Music" in Shreveport was NOT disappointed! Ricky always stays true to his roots and gives all Glory to God! I loved that they included a short testimony from a band member. The music, the sound, the venue...110%. All performers should follow Ricky's lead!

    by Denise K on 1/29/23Rating: 5 out of 5

We saw Ricky as part of a country concert series at the Meyer Theatre in Green Bay, WI, and weren’t familiar with his music. Wow, were we blown away! The musicianship of his Kentucky Thunder band was top-notch and the vocals were excellent, too. We were very pleasantly surprised and would love to see him again. Truly a wonderful experience!

Concert was great! Talented musicians! Enjoyed listening to little stories Ricky told in between songs. Very personable! Venue is small….no bad seats!

The music was great, my family was from the same part of the country as him. My aunt Liz Stevens told us when Ricky was little they would bring him to her house and she would show him some things about playing music. The accent is something that I miss about home.I’ve been in Florida for about 30 years now.. All the guys are some of the best in the business.

  • Musical Traditions Still Strong

by Roots Music Lover on 1/11/23Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Ricky and KY Thunder were super tight musically and on vocals. Very personable performance. Seeing the younger, newer members of the band play with such skill and cooperation with the other band members, gives me hope that traditional acoustic music is here for a lot longer

  • Superb!

by Brett on 1/10/23Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was amazing! The band was amazing! It is clear to me everyone in Kentucky Thunder (including Ricky himself) are musicians first, through and through. Even played a couple of “old” popular tunes from his heyday. Regarding the venue (Birchmere), I love the place. It is a special place with great memories. However, could make a few thoughtful improvements for the benefit of their loyal patrons. Suggestion - maybe a canopy along the side of the building with portable heaters and benches that aren’t sagging ready to break (it’s tough out there in the cold rain Gary)! Maybe a bit of a price break on the food, like the chips and salsa (btw, please bring back your signature “smokey” salsa…I really missed it!). All said, loved the concert and loved the venue.

  • Great time!

We had a really great time. The show was amazing. The Birchmere is an amazing venue for entertainment like this.

  • Absolutely delightful l

by Bill on 1/10/23Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Possibly the best shoe I have seen at the Birchmere. Skaggs was terrific but each musician in his entourage was great. Bring him back every year. At least

  • Awesome show, perfect venue

by Mule on 1/10/23Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

My 5th time seeing Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky thunder over the years. Great talent in that band and Ricky has still got it...we loved the music and the conversation.

  • Ricky S was awesome

by Amos on 1/9/23Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Have been to the Birchmere a lot to see Ricky Skaggs. This was the best show. I also thought that the Birchmere did a better job of getting the dinners out and the food was better.

  • Ricky Skaggs the master of blue grass

by Marlys on 1/9/23Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Ricky stays true to form and does a full round of classics from Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley and his own songs with classic delivery. I love the mandolin, the classic Scruggs influence banjo with gorgeous base and violin, there isnt a better 7 piece instrumental with great harmonies. Even the washboard, the classic hills rhythm. It was a life experience ill never forget.

  • Bluegrass Royalty

by Erik on 1/9/23Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

A Skaggs concert is always amazing musicianship, the pure high lonesome sound of Bluegrass, and the unfiltered crystal clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Skaggs....c'mon Man!

by FellowCountryMan on 9/7/22Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Instead of playing his mega-hits like "Honey, Open Up That Door", "Country Boy", etc. he and his guitar bandmate spent approx 20 mins testifying about their religious awakenings and preaching to us about a "spiritual revival" that they told us was needed right now in America...all fine and good but not when i paid $70 to hear you play, man! Have seen you 4 times and always loved your music, bought your records all the way back when we bought records but No More! I dont need preaching to Brother Skaggs....i just love your songs....Adios....

  • Surpassed My Expectations

by Bluegrass Wife on 9/2/22Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I am new to the Bluegrass audience as of 2019. In 2020 a married a guitar pickin' Bluegrasser. We had 4th row seats at Brown County Music Center when we saw Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder perform recently. I only knew 2 songs on the set they performed but every one of the songs was great. The talent of all of the musicians on the stage may or may not be able to be matched by other musicians but they sure couldn't be surpassed. Ricky has incredible stage presence and connection with his audience. I didn't realize what a compassionate Christian heart that Ricky had until that night. One of his band members gave a very encouraging testimony of how God has worked in his life and transformed him from having a struggling life to one of meaning and purpose. My husband and I enjoyed every minute of the 90+ minute concert and would definitely see Ricky Skaggs again.

  • Excellence at the highest level!

by Retropop on 8/29/22Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Expectations were met and surpassed. The musicianship was top notch, vocally and instrumentally. Ricky and the boys shared their passion for music and faith in the best of ways. Tune after tune, they were melting their strings, and the playlist was wonderful. The audience could feel that they were having fun jamming on stage.

  • Great Concert at a Great Venue

by clong60 on 8/29/22Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

First time to see Ricky Skaggs and I was very happy with the performance. Ricky is a fantastic performer. This was the best bluegrass I've ever heard live. The concert was over two hours of great music. The Brown County Music Center is one of our favorite venues. There are no bad seats and the sound quality is top notch. I wouldn't hesitate to go see Ricky perform again and I would highly recommend the Brown County Music Center.
