  • Bluegrass kicks Ass!!!!

by rosscoe on 10/9/09Paramount Arts Center - AshlandRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic ! Eclectic ! Gets better every time !! Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder were at the top of their game last night! All the members and Ricky himself were most gracious and appreciative of the audience. They hung around and signed autographs, took pictures with the fans and played bluegrass music like no other. They are truly at the top of the heap when it comes to authentic bluegrass music. I enjoyed myself immensly and will most definitely go see them again soon. Thanks Ricky for keeping the tradition alive !!! You guys are a national treasure in my eyes. Your friend in Magoffin County, "BIG" Jeff Ross.

  • steeldrivers rule!

by raggedy on 8/2/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

I bought a ticket for my husband for his birthday to see the Steeldrivers. They were absolutely awesome. They were great sports; had their picture taken with him. Did not stay for the other acts. Sorry, but we only came for them. We had seen Ricky Skaggs before and loved him but we had a 2 1/2 drive. Love the venue. Thanks.

  • Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder- AWESOME!!

by ScottandTunja on 7/27/09Fitz Casino Tunica - RobinsonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Once again, Ricky Skaggs and his band, Kentucky Thunder, showed why they are the best of the best when it comes to playing bluegrass. The show was not as long as I had hoped, and started a little late, but I cant complain too much.. Not too often do you get to sit and listen to experts on every single instrument...wish they were coming back soon...I would go again.

  • show was fantastic!

Ricky Skaggs put on an awesome show last night. I hope the casinos can get more Bluegrass bands

  • Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder - Amazing!

    by t22lm on 7/26/09Fitz Casino Tunica - RobinsonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder are one of the most talented groups I have ever heard. I was not previously a big Bluegrass fan but after hearing Ricky live, I have a greater understanding and appreciation for the music. I purchased several CD's and DVD's after the show. I may have been converted!

  • Del McCoury Band is the best!

by bridey on 7/20/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 4 out of 5

The whole evening was great, but the Del McCoury Band was stellar. As usual.

  • del macoury, ricky scaggs

by Nedi on 7/19/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 2 out of 5

the Sound system and the sound management was absolutely horrible. It felt like a pressure cooker in there. our seats were wedged in to the point of considerable discomfort. So much so, we left them to stand at the back . The two bands were extremely talented. I feel bad for them because of the lack of air conditioning. The beer was the most expensive beer I have ever payed for. I Would not have ordered the beer if the prices were listed. 12.50 for 2 ,12 ounce beers.

  • Ricky, Del and Steel Drivers were fantastic!!!!

by Mem1 on 7/18/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury and the Steel Drivers were simply fantastic. The music was incredible. I've never seen muscians move their hands so fast!!!! This was my daughter-in-law's first experience listening to Blue Grass. She loved it. She is now a BIG fan! Just incredible show.

  • A great night of bluegrass music!

by Parrott0117 on 7/18/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

This show was a great night of bluegrass music from three different artists: Steel Drivers, Del McCoury, and Ricky Skaggs. The show was very long; over 4 1/2 hours but the music was excellent and even carried over in to the parking lot outside with some local guys.

  • Bluegrass is a class American Act!

by Mengelelectric on 7/17/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Please bring more of it to the Casino! I can die now that I've seen Del McCoury play bluegrass music LIVE!

  • Hampton Beach Casino 1st Annual Bluegrass Festival

by PNMEUSE on 7/17/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

If your into Bluegrass music, this was show to see. Opening act, The Steeldrivers, were great! Could have played a little bit longer. Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder were great as usual as were The Del McCoury band. I hope this is the first of many Bluegrass acts to come to The Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom.

  • Blurgrass RULES !

by DebMc on 7/17/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Opening group was Ok, but not of the same caliber of Del or Kentucy Thunder. Del McCourty was excellent. He is a true professional. His band was VERY tigtht. Loved his fiddle player. Played a great set. Ricky Skaggs was well, Ricky Skaggs. I didn't think a mans' fingers could move so fast. He has a great repoirtore with the audience. Kentucy Thunder didn't disappoint. They play SO well together, but never sounded like they were doing just another show. Andy Leftwicz is a great fiddler, I also felt that Cody Kilby was extrodinaire on the guitar. I would see them any chance I could, I drove 2 hours , each way, to the show and would do it again in a heart-beat.

  • Bluegrass Nirvana!

by hellcountry on 7/17/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

It doesn't get any better than having three incredible bluegrass acts in succession on a beautiful summer evening in a spacious room with an attentive and enthusiastic audience. I've attended many shows at Hampton Beach Casino over the years and this was by far, by miles actually, the most enjoyable as an audience member. Can't say enough about how incredible it was for me to have both Del McCoury and Ricky Skaggs and their incredible bands share the same stage.

  • Bluegrass Heaven

by bluesdawgg on 7/17/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

What a treat to have some of the best Bluegrass has to offer so close to home on a beautiful summer night!! Hopefully, this was only the beginning of a new trend to bring more Bluegrass to the New England area! Del McCoury and Ricky Scaggs were in fine form, and the opening act, The Steel Drivers, were tight and talented! They all delivered the goods to an enthusiastic , packed house.

  • great except for PA sound during steeldrivers

by highpine on 7/17/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 4 out of 5

fantastic show. sound was great for del and ricky, but horrible for steeldrivers, what gives? five stars if not for this item, which was essentially flushed 1/3 of the show and from a really talented band.

  • Ricky and Del.........worth the wait

by beardman on 7/17/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Starting with The Steeldrivers, then Del and then Ricky, it was such a great night of Bluegrass music. Long time coming to Hampton Beach. A lot of favorites and they all just made you relax and almost part of the show.

  • Skaggs, McCoury, and The Steeldrivers

by SwampyNH on 7/17/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 4 out of 5

The Steeldrivers were dark, dirty and a very enjoyable listen. Del and the Boys were high energy and very, very enjoyable. Ricky talked about as much as he played. The band seemed less than enthused and the banjo typified all the banjo jokes I've heard throughout the years.
