  • Greatest Bluegrass Band

    by VA4DDY on 1/13/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen many bluegrass bands and I do think this one, led by Ricky Skaggs, tops them all. They play many styles and Ricky pays homage to his roots and influences, such as Bill Monroe and Earl Scruggs. His stories between songs are interesting and only add to the show, rather than interrupting the flow. Will definitely see them again!

Songs were good, talented family. Overall dissapointing

  • by Anonymous on 12/17/12Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - FlorenceRating: 1 out of 5

Very, very disappointing. Seemed disorganized and they did not play nearly enough bluegrass. Some off the wall song choices as well, and too much 'family' and not enough Ricky Skaggs. This was a cash grab to sell holiday CD's.

  • Ricky Skaggs Christmas Show Belterra Casino

by CSFur on 12/17/12Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - FlorenceRating: 1 out of 5

The sound system was lacking and the show was 1 1/2 hrs. long. Too little for too much.

  • Really spectacular!

by NBTX on 10/10/12Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

What a talented bunch of musicians! We don't call ourselves Bluegrass fans, but hoped Ricky would put on a good show and we were not disappointed. The song selection was varied and the stories were fantastic, too. The Kentucky Thunder and Ricky himself seemed to be having as much fun as the audience was. Really, don't miss it!

  • Amazing!

by Btexas on 10/9/12Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

The two hour show was a masterpiece of Bluegrass music! Ricky Skaggs is at the top of his game, and he has one of the best bands in the business. His violinist and guitarist (Background vocals) were amazing. The sounds and vocals were crystal clear and spot on. The show was over before we knew it. The two song encore was a treat. We loved Ricky's stories of his parents and early Bluegrass music.

  • Fabulous Show!

by MerryFlorene on 10/9/12Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

I had high expectations but Ricky and Kentucky Thunder surpassed them!! I was pleased that they covered all the bases...a couple of old mainstream hits, Bluegrass hits and old standards, as well as some Gospel. You won't be disappointed!

  • Pure bluegrass

Loved this concert. Great mixture of hits, classic bluegrass, and new releases. A beautiful tenor voice and an excellent instrumentalist

Fantastic show here in San Antonio at the Majestic Theater. I took my wife and two teenage boys. All were amazed at the level of musicianship and the quality of showmanship. You can't go wrong seeing this act.

What a wonderful program for all! Ricky is a fantastic musician who surrounds himself with the best of best fellow musicians. Love the variety of music but nothing beats good ole bluegrass!

  • What Incredible Messengers...

by NothingCouldBeFiner on 10/9/12Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

I've listened to Bluegrass music most of my life being from North Carolina. But tonight my appreciation for the music moved to a whole different level and Ricky & Kentucky Thunder were the true catalyst! They played from their hearts and are wonderful Christian men and music artists. They each had their own voice with their respective instruments and Ricky, being the humble man that he is, was just proud to share the stage with each of them. Ricky has traveled down so many roads...we never knew how many until he told his wonderful stories. His Christian upbringing and his walk with the Lord even today shone through in every word spoke and sung...it was awe inspiring. The talent from these guys...I mean every one of them was just incredible. I am so glad that we took the time to go see this concert. My love for the music has been renewed and thank you Ricky and KT for being the messengers!!!!

  • Ricky Skaggs was AWESOME!!

by working60 on 10/9/12Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

From the minute they hit the stage, to the encore, it was energized music. My feet danced to the music the entire time. He spoke of a Christmas performance Dec. 2013. I will definitely be there, if he is fortunate enough to be asked to come back, for the Christmas presentation. I thought it was an amazing concert. I am hoping to see him again!!!!

  • Ricky Skaggs was unbelievable!

  • Seagrass Festival, Dauphin Island, AL

by RichMar on 3/26/12Seagrass Festival - Dauphin IslandRating: 5 out of 5

This was a GREAT Festival!!! Historic Ft. Gaines was a perfect location, sound was excellent inside the fort. Enjoyed all the groups, but Three On A String was our favorite! Ricky Skaggs and Sara Watkins were also great! This was the 1st Seagrass Festival and hope you'll continue it each year. It was a Fun weekend and helped Ft. Gaines and the folks on Dauphin Island. Thanks for a wonderful experience!
