I have no idea what that means, but that's the phrase Ricky Skaggs said toward the end of the show, and summed up the great banter between the audience and the performers. Bruce was in excellent form and integrated well with the bluegrass musicians. I've got to say I'm a big BH fan, and have never been to a bluegrass concert, so I was a little skeptical. Needless to say, I was most impressed. An excellent concert, made all the better by the quality of musicians in the group. I can truly say I could go out an buy a BG album based soley on this concert. Highly Recommended!

If you can go...go! Unbelievable talent. I would have paid double to go the following night if it were available. :-)

WOW.......what a night. Would have been 5 stars if they would have played longer!!!! Appreciated the two encores. What a beautiful place, what wonderful music and to bring the two collective talents together was unexpected. Sheer magic!

Ricky Scaggs was great. That being said, I was very disappointed as a whole for two reasons: 1- the time taken by officials of the Crown Coliseum committee was boring and high schoolish and long. the whole time i kept thinking....THIS cost me over $200?! 2- the opening act- his voice was good, but i was HORRIFIED to see that he was using a soundtrack for some instruments and backup singers. he should have put himself out there with just the band members present. it would have been more real. once again i kept thinking...THIS cost me over $200?!

  • Ricky was on!

    by speckhunter80 on 4/14/13Crown Center - FayettevilleRating: 4 out of 5

Recommend a Ricky Skaggs concert to anyone that likes bluegrass and country. First part of the show was bluegrass with second half more country. Show runs 90 minutes plus had an opening act, Trae Edwards. Trae is up and coming and if you get the chance to see him, go.

  • Ricky was awesome!

Iwas trying to get rid of my ticket to go out of town early. I'm glad I wasn't able to. How can you go wrong with ricky skaggs? Bluegrass, country, gospel....

Wonderful concert. Ricky was at his best as well as his amazing band Kentucky Thunder. The Birchmere where this was held was fantastic. The management have it down to a science on getting people in, seated and fed. Highly recommend Ricky and the Birchmere in Alexandria VA!!

  • Ricky is still the BEST

    by skindog81 on 1/14/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Ricky will always be #1 in the hearts of bluegrass fans and it was obvious in the fantastic show he and Kentucky Thunder put on at the Birchmere. Nearly non-stop songs and ballads with a nice mixture of old and new. Lots of foot-stomping by the end of the very long set. Great encore as well. Couldn't have been a better evening....great friends, good food and awesome bluegrass music from the master.!!!!!!!

I have to say, I have never been a huge Bluegrass fan. I could listen to some for a short time, but then I would have to change to something else. Ricky and the Kentucky Thunder put on a fantastic show which was entertaining and fun to watch. They really responded well to the audience and the audience responded well to them. My husband is learning to play the mandolin, so I bought the tickets to the show as a Christmas gift to him. He was thrilled with the show. We now know that if you want to watch Ricky play the mandolin, you need to sit to his right side. There were very few moments when we could actually see how he played. That certainly did not prevent us from enjoying the show. The Birchmere is a fantastic place to see a show too. I loved ordering dinner and then sitting at a table to watch the show. Great job everyone!

  • A Little Disappointed

by Skaggsfan on 1/14/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 3 out of 5

We have been Ricky Skaggs fans for 35+ years...and have been to more of his concerts than I can count...however this one left us a little disappointed. Ricky Skaggs didn't sing nearly as many songs as normal, played more instrumentals than past shows. We personally purchased tickets for family to attend with us this time as we have enjoyed his shows for so many years...but disappointed that he didn't sing as much as in the past.

Ricky and his band sounded amazing. They put on a great show. The venue was the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA love the intimate setting, sit down dinner etc...When he is back in town again we will go to see them again

  • Great show

    by Jchealy68 on 1/14/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I thought the Friday night Ricky Skaggs show was great! Ricky is a legend and you see why as soon as the show starts. As if seeing him wasn't enough, Ricky surrounds himself with some of the finest musicians in the business. They played all the songs I hoped they would and some new ones that I hadn't heard yet. I hope these guys come back again next year.
