  • Superb!

by Anonymous on 2/14/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

This show was absolutely terrific! The dancers were perfection, the Carpenter Center was beautiful, the seats were comftorable and the food/gifts were reasonable! Although we sat in the way top levels everything was visible, you could follow along easily. I would reccomend this to anyone!

  • Richmond Ballet Company wonderful!

by CLLD on 2/14/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5

The Feb 13 afternoon performance was a wonderful afternoon experience. The Richmond company was wonderful. I enjoyed the afternoon performance time. I don't miss the Northern Va. area performances any more, now that I have found the Richmond area arts.

  • The best ballet we have seen in years

by MattAt on 2/14/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

Romeo & Juliet, performed by the Richmond Ballet at the Carpenter Theatre, was hands-down, the most beautiful performance my wife and I have seen in years. The ballet company performed exceptionally with elegance, precision and strength to the live accompaniment of the Richmond Orchestra, who were also amazing. I would recommend the Richmond Ballet company to anyone within distance to see them. They are a truly wonderful, professional team of dancers.

The orchestra was great, the play was slow. I had great seats though.

The Ballet was incredible. The restoration of the carpenter theater looks great. The music was superb and the dancers did a nice job of conveying the story without dialogue. A great show to see even if you are not a big fan of ballet.

  • Romeo and Juliet

by flyinghigh on 2/14/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5

The event was just spectacular; a very magical production. I enjoyed the simple stage setting and of course, the very colorful costumes. The dancing was like watching a snowflake moving in the air - very elegant. Orchestra was flawless!! I highly recommend this production!!!!!

  • Romeo and Julie

by Cielos on 2/13/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 3 out of 5

Overall, the play was good. However, I don't think two intermissions (that long) were necesssary. Some scenes of the play were unnecessarily long and the intermissions added to it. But I enjoyed it. Thanks.

  • Outstanding

Wonderful rendition of Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet, choreography was on the money and the performance was excellent.

The show was very well done. There is some sharpening up to do, by the male leads especially. They lost there footing enough that even the untrained eye could see the mistakes. The dancer cast in the role of Juliet carried the show. She was in a class all of her own. Her dance was gorgeous, and her theatrical skills far outshined the rest of the group. The symphony was stellar. Overall, a very good show.

  • Performance was EXCELLENT

The Nutcracker performance was absolutely amazing. From the wonderful scenary to the steller performances of the actors, this commanded your complete attention. This was one of the best Nutcracker performances I have ever seen. Very entertaining for all ages and well worth your time and money.

  • Unexpectedly great!

by Chaz1555555 on 1/4/10Rhythm Hall at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

This was strictly to meet the cast! My kids just loved meeting the performers and getting autographs! I was expecting more of a sedate event that was less intimate, but surprisingly enjoyed watching my kids interact with the cast, take pictures, and get autographed posters. It was worth the ticket price, and I would do it again!

  • Nutcracker was fantastic

by Chaz1555555 on 1/4/10Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

Although last years was a bit a better in that it had more, this year was also spectacular!

  • by Kitzy on 12/28/09Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

I attended expecting a very special event. I left in total awe and amazement !! The performance, from start to the final curtain, was so beautifully and masterfully performed ... truly perfect in EVERY way !! Thank you so very much !!

  • Nutcracker

by bluebyrd on 12/26/09Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5

My daughter and I have been going to see the Nutcracket since she was 5 years old. We have seen many productions in the past 10 years, This Nutcracker is one of the best we have seen.

  • Sweets Party vs. Clara's Tea

by Anonymous on 12/26/09Rhythm Hall at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 2 out of 5

While the Sweets Party was as much an annual event as the ballet itself, this years changes were possibly the last that we will attend. Yes, the piano was a nice touch and the tea did include new items to taste, but the true reason we attend the "after show" is for our children to meet the dancers. While the Sweets Party was an additional charge of $10.00 per person, Clara's Tea tickets are $25.00. As we are there for the dancers, the piano and the additional snack items were not worth the additional charge.

  • Good tradition

by PLIN on 12/25/09Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5

This is a good tradition to keep. A good program for everyone in the family and specially useful to keep young children interested (and educated) in good music and good dancing. Even though the Nutcracker, as presented in Richmond, seems to have a relatively simple layout and not very elaborate "scenarios". The venue is pretty good, although the stage seems small for such a production. The dancing was good and the orchestra was just OK. Then again it is worth going and worth supporting these artists, specially in these difficult times.

  • Fantastic performance!

WOW! The most beautiful thing I have ever seen. :-) The talent both in dance and orchestra were simply amazing.
