My daughter and I (tammy) went to see the show. It was great, fantastic, the show at the Carpenter center was great. Second year we went. Plan on going next year.
The venue was absolutely amazing. it was friendly and beautiful it set the perfect atmosphere for the nutcracker. I went to opening night and the performance was great. i laughed i smiled and i appreciated. Thank you for an enjoyable night. Just make sure your not sitting by a talker. Oh i was on the balcony you can really see the ballet from all the seats!
I hadn't seen The Nutcracker since I was a child. I went with my family to the Carpenter Theatre, and I loved the experience. I was really sad to see that the theatre had been in shambles for so long. Once it was restored, I could not resist the urge to relive such a wonderful childhood memory. This time, however, I was in the company of my boyfriend and quite a bit older. It was every bit as spectacular as I had hoped. The show was beautifully choreographed, especially the snake scene. I had a wonderful time and I definitely recommend this show to everyone.
Great show! My children and I loved it, the set design alone was impressive and the dancers were amazing!
We were a little leary of taking our 12 year old and 8 year old sons to see the Nutcracker Ballet. As soon as the lights went down all fears passed. The stage design and lighting, scenery changes and scene transitions were superbly executed - from colors and style to the functionality and coordination. There was even a little bit of pyrotechnic display that the boys loved! Choreography kept us enthused and at times amused. The strength and grace of the dancers were evident throughout the entire performance. The Symphony, of course, was wonderful as always. In the end the boys loved it and both said they would watch it again. We can't wait for the next Richmond Ballet experience!
This presentation was one of the best Nutcracker performances I have seen in a long time. I have been to many a Nutcracker and have seen many good performances. Some great and others good but could have been done better. This one in particular, stood out from many. The Carpenter Theater is beautiful, the symphony sounded perfect, and the costumes, dresses, and design of the set were amazing. The only part I wish that was better were some of the dances in Act II. They could have been choreographed better to the music. That still did not detract from the performance overall. Amazing. I am very pleased. Keep up the good work.
It was very special to be at the Richmond Ballet on opening night for the Nutcracker. Everyone danced beautifully!
The newly renovated carpenter center was great. The stage and the props were visually dazzling. The dancing was superb.
It was a magical event to watch. Every performer gave a performance to remember. My wife and I had a wonderful time. She is from Russia and said that she enjoyed it as much as any performance that she has seen in Russia. It was worth every penny to see the look on her face. We will be back next year. Cheers!
What an amazing show! I would reccommend this to anyone, even if you aren't a big fan of ballet. These dancers have amazing talent and the choeography was so well done. I thought it fit well with the music and what they were trying to say.
I am always amazed at the poise, creativity, beauty and professionalism that the Richmond Ballet exhibits. It was an entirely enjoyable afternoon. I especially enjoyed Lines Squared by Jessica Lang, the interpretation of works by Piet Mondrian. It was a fun, exciting and avery appropriate interpretation of the artist's work. Although I have always thought of his work as extremely stationary, I was thoroughly delighted by the choice of music, choreography and setting. The dancers did a beautiful job.

The performance was delightful and the two of us enjoyed our evening. Our only complaint is that the performance ended too soon. We wanted more. Thanks for the hard work of everyone involved in the performance.
