About

REO Speedwagon are one of the definitive American arena rock bands to emerge in the ’70s,  selling over 40 million records worldwide across 16 studio albums. Formed in 1967, the band’s 1978 album You Can Tune a Piano, but You Can't Tuna Fish launched a streak of nine consecutive albums earning an RIAA Platinum certification or higher, but REO reached truly rarified air with their Diamond-certified 1980 album, Hi Infidelity, which spent 15 weeks atop the Billboard 200. Hi Infidelity hosted the band’s first Hot 100 No. 1 single "Keep On Loving You" as well as its Top 5 follow-up "Take It On the Run," and the band would top the chart again with “Can't Fight This Feeling” from 1984’s Wheels Are Turnin’. REO Speedwagon have remained a touring force, organizing several co-headlining treks with genre heavyweights Styx, Chicago and Def Leppard. In 2022 alone, the REO and Styx joint tour earned $25 million. As of 2024, REO Speedwagon is made up of lead vocalist Kevin Cronin and bandmates Bruce Hall, Dave Amato, Bryan Hitt, Derek Hilland, and Matt Bissonette.

    In-Laws loved them

by viking on 7/11/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

I purchaed the tickets for .38 Special, REO Speedwagon and Styx for my Wife's parents for their anniversary present. They said it was the best time they had in 25 years. They grew up listening to their music and said that I could not have picked a better gift.

styxx and 38 special was unforgettable

by celery on 7/11/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

We were very suprised and very excited that 38 Special was there, it was not mentioned and was really cool we had another excellent band to perform along with Styxx and REO Speedwagen. It was an awsome concert. And to top it all off, Styxx and REO performed together at the end. What a GREAT concert!!! It's wonderful to remenous the good times and have the bands come back together and create the great memories in the 70' and 80's for their fans.

    Great night!

by statlady on 7/10/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Seeing all three bands was great - other than the fact the mike went out during REO's set the night was fantastic. None of them have missed a beat - Kevin Cronin just gets better with age.

by lovingteacher on 7/10/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Wow, the concert rocked! I felt like a teenager again...riding in my white chevette with mall hair, listening to REO on my new cassette player, and rockin out like a crazed groupie! Yep, those were the good old days. ~Danyel~

    Great Show!

by BrownstownMike on 7/10/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

All three bands sounded great! They really demonstrated how experience and talent can compensate for any amount of youthful energy they may have lost from "back in the day". The music was quality and the vocals still hold up. It was like listening to my records...uh..I mean, CD's...er, uh....iPod recordings. Worth every penny!

    Excellent Classic Rock Show!

by oboedude on 7/10/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I wasn't born yet when these rock groups first hit the scene, but I became a fan by listening to my parents records, cassette tapes and CD's. Despite having new members, all three bands sounded just like the used to and put on a great show. I highly recommend it to any fan of classic rock.

    REO Rocked The House!

by K1Rocker on 7/10/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Last night's show at DTE was awesome. To hear three great bands in one night, to hear the crowd truly appreciate and rock to our favorites created a memorable night. The band's interaction with the crowd, the way they showed their appreciation of their fans too was the way it should be. Bringing all three bands on stage at the end to Don't Stop Rocking was the ultimate. Detroit is gonna "Keep on Lovin' REO..."!

    Smokin!

by detroitrockdoc on 7/10/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

It was an absolutely gorgeous evening for 3 great rock n' roll bands. I've seen at least 30 shows at DTE but this was my first time out on the lawn...and it was awesome! The sound was crisp and clear. It was an absolutely groovy scene, everybody was singing and dancing...it really brought back memories of those classic shows from back in the day. .38 Special started out with a real foot -stomping set which got us all primed for a soaring set from Tommy Shaw and Styx...whew! As if it couldn't get any better, the evening grew dark, the moon came out and REO Speedwagon blew the roof off the place! It was a spectacular show and one I catch all these guys again in a heart-beat!

Good but can't believe microphone mess up with REO

by Don123 on 7/10/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

STYX was great... like always... Can't believe the mess with REO Speedwagon, about 3rd song, a song was started, Dave Amato was "singing" but the mike was not working. You could see him going thru the motions but no audio. After what seemed like a full minute, he realized it and stopped. The crew spent probably 5 minutes trying to find a mike that worked going thru 3 or 4... . Not a good way to start the set. Not the artists fault, but ........Overall they were good, but it must be hard to get going again after the audio mess. I am probably more of a STYX fan than REO.. but.....

    First concert was a ROCKER!!!

by 90sBabyREOFan on 7/10/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

First off, .38 Special was very good! I love their songs and they played their top notch hits. Then Styx blew us away with a lot of energy and amazing music. AND THEN, REO comes and rocks the stage even harder. It was a GREAT show.

Styx, REO & 38 Special Rocked!!

by Rlinden on 7/10/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Great show!! All 3 bands rocked, lots of good old tunes. Really brings back the memories (except the guys are older and grayer). DTE continues to be a great place to see a concert. Just wished each of the bands could've played longer.
