About

REO Speedwagon are one of the definitive American arena rock bands to emerge in the ’70s,  selling over 40 million records worldwide across 16 studio albums. Formed in 1967, the band’s 1978 album You Can Tune a Piano, but You Can't Tuna Fish launched a streak of nine consecutive albums earning an RIAA Platinum certification or higher, but REO reached truly rarified air with their Diamond-certified 1980 album, Hi Infidelity, which spent 15 weeks atop the Billboard 200. Hi Infidelity hosted the band’s first Hot 100 No. 1 single "Keep On Loving You" as well as its Top 5 follow-up "Take It On the Run," and the band would top the chart again with “Can't Fight This Feeling” from 1984’s Wheels Are Turnin’. REO Speedwagon have remained a touring force, organizing several co-headlining treks with genre heavyweights Styx, Chicago and Def Leppard. In 2022 alone, the REO and Styx joint tour earned $25 million. As of 2024, REO Speedwagon is made up of lead vocalist Kevin Cronin and bandmates Bruce Hall, Dave Amato, Bryan Hitt, Derek Hilland, and Matt Bissonette.

    Styx rocks

by joeezdad08 on 7/12/09Citizens Bank Arena - Ontario

Styx totally stole the show. I saw them many years ago and I think they were way better this time. Tommy Shaw was awesome.

    Styx always rocks!

by Dalysdolls3 on 7/12/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

First the night started with 38 special, which was really cool. I hadn't been to a concert in years, and I was excited to see Styx for the first time. I am now hooked for life. All the guys look so great, its as if time stood still. My favorite was Tommy Shaw, he has such a great personality and a great guitar player. Its hard not to notice how hard the drummer, Todd Sucherman works. He's amazing. My favorite song is delivered by Lawrence Gowan, "A criminal mind", which vocals give me goose bumps. James Young also delivers strong vocals, and great guitar licks.Ricky Phillips completes the band, who was also great. This group of performers never fail to entertain, and are also pleasing to the eye. They have so many great songs! We saw REO Speedwagon and they rocked the crowd. I had to leave a little early, so I missed some of it. Next time I will buy better seats to get closer to the action!

    Reo needs to retire

by chicagofan on 7/12/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - Albuquerque

Styx was fabulous. Good selection of old favorites mixed with new covers and great light show. REO was a HUGE disappointment. The instruments were so loud I couldn't enjoy the music and then it seemed this was done to compensate for the lack of vocal ability of the singers. Sometimes there is benefit in leaving the profession gracefully. If felt ripped off. We left way early

    STYX was the best!

by GMAA on 7/12/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

Styx played to the crowd, and was the best act hands down.this was a big deal since i am into 38 Special and REO Speed wagon far more than Styx.it was also very evident by the people around us.The only flaw is the acoustics of the event could have been dialed in better for a clearer sound on vocals.

    Such a Great Lineup!!!!!

by AlpineSeeker on 7/12/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

As a Big fan of 80's music, this concert was a real experience. I Love all three bands, and to see them all for one low price at a venue that was close was beyond awesome!! I had seen REO Speedwagon and Styx back in the 90's and had a great time back then, but to see 38 Special for the first time was a memorable event. All three bands sounded almost studio quality, even after all these years and the set list was almost perfect. REO Speedwagon had all their classics in their set, and Styx had most of there greatest with the expected exclusion of the Dennis DeYoung classic songs (as he was not there to give his all) and 38 Special had most of their classics with the Heartbreaking exception of my all time favorite, "If I'd Been The One". All in all, the groups Rocked with all their Hear and Soul, and you really were "back then" for a few hours and I had such a Great time.

    REO Speedwagon was good

by phngrl on 7/12/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

Love the Citizen's Business Bank Arena. Close to home and easy to get in and out of. The music however was extremely loud. Also all three bands sounded as if they were using synthesized equipment.

REO, 38 Special, Styxx were wonderful

by gitti on 7/12/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

It was one hell of a show; the tickets were reasonable. DTE Energy Theatre around Detroit, MI ( Pine Knob ) is one of my favorite places to go. The music sounds a hell of a lot better than Auburn Hills.

    Not Bad...

by tazzzzzman on 7/12/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

.38 Special was great!. I had not seen them before and they were the "invited" act. The only negative was that they did some of their best hits as a medley. It would have been better to hear the songs in their entierty. I would have preferred to have more .38 Special and less Styx... Styx was good but had some sound issues during the first few songs. Once these were corrected they did well. The downside of Styx, especially if you grew up with them as I did, is the absence of Dennis DeYoung and his songs. REO Speedwagon was very good. I had seen them in a more sedate setting a few years back and they did many more of their mellow songs. This concert was almost all rock. Not bad, but it wouod have been nice to hear some mellow peices.

EXCELLENT. The three bands put out a lot of energy, and good sounding music. STRONG and positive, no half-a$$ed job. Very clean venue also

by DancingDove on 7/12/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

All 3 bands rocked! I really enjoyed seeing Reo Speedwagon again ater so many years. First saw Reo in the lae 70's. They still got it!! Styx was awsome! I just wished they would've played Babe or Lady! That was the only disappointment I had with them. .38 Special was also good they got us warmed up for the rest of the concert. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!!!

by chlelsealynn2010 on 7/12/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I was very please with the show. I love both groups, and was very surprised to see .38 Special there as well. This was a Father's Gay gift to me dad, and we had a blast! I cannot wait to see anther concert with REO Speedwagon and Styx! This is a must see for all those who love the older Rock music!

    Styx was fantastic!

by Leggs on 7/12/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The whole concert took me back to my High School years - what a great escape! My sister and I had a great time - we had spectacular seats. All the bands were fantastic. The finale where all three bands performed was awesome, especially when all the guitar and bass players were lined up across the stage.
