About

Talk about magic!

British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about -- you guessed it -- Harry Potter.

Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.

One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character -- including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named -- with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).

Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

This show was creative, witty, engaging, fast-paced, and a wonderful tribute to the Harry Potter books. Our group consisted of kids, teens, and adults, and we all had a blast!

  • A silly adventure of harry told by 2 actors

A fun and entertaining time with discount tickets. As a pretty knowledgeable Potter fan it was enjoyable but definitely a one time adventure. The jokes are more of a highschool performance than a worth while show in Vegas. It does have its charm; however, nothing that you should stop whatever else you have planned to specifically see the show.

  • Don't sit in the front seats

A really great show with two very talented gents. I could tell they liked working together which made it fun for us all. A good amount of energy and fast talking kept the story line going however, a bit too fast to comprehend all the jokes and nuances at times. Family friendly in general with subtle sexual innuendo between the two was noted and the Potter #2 had a habit of licking his lips and spitting a bit when he spoke. Thus, my review title.

This was the only show I chose to go to in Vegas and I am so glad I did! NICK and JAMES were SOOO FUNNY!! I usually am not a big laugher but I was laughing! I am literally still talking about it on the daily! I loved being involved, I'm so glad I bought a premium ticket! Gosh I am so happy!

  • Potted Potter Las Vegas

by Gleeks on 8/13/24Imagine Showroom at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

What a brilliantly funny laugh out loud show - my 12yr old has never laughed so much - fun for all ages. Nick and James kept the momentum throughout and were just hilarious. This shouldn’t work but it does - even die-hard Potter fans will enjoy it. One of the best shows I’ve seen.

  • Loved it!!

We recently attended the Vegas show *Potted Potter*, and it was absolutely hilarious! The performers did a fantastic job, weaving in references to commemorate other pop culture moments while staying true to the Harry Potter series. While a solid understanding of the Harry Potter books is definitely needed to fully appreciate the humor, even my 8-year-old, who has only read the first book, had a blast and laughed out loud throughout the entire show. The chemistry between the two performers is wonderful. With very little in terms of props or set design, they managed to keep the entire audience engaged and entertained from start to finish. *Potted Potter* is a must-see for any Harry Potter fan visiting Vegas!

  • Clever. Fast paced. Hysterical.

These guys are so talented. Saw the show once before and took our niece as a graduation gift. She’s diehard everything HP and she absolutely loved it.

  • Lots of fun, more suited for children and teens.

  • Amazing Show!

by Caroline F on 7/31/24Imagine Showroom at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

My kids are HUGE Harry Potter fans and LOVED this show! Amongst a world of overproduction in Las Vegas, it was delightfully bare bones. The actors were hilarious, witty, and self deprecating which made the show even more lovable.

  • Funny show for Harry Potter fans

Fun, silly show for Harry Potter fans! Laughed throughout the show. Expected a bit more "magic"from a Las Vegas stage show but I enjoyed a lighthearted humorous moment!

  • Absolutely fabulous!!!

by Couch on 7/30/24Imagine Showroom at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

We went to this as my daughter is a massive Harry Potter fan not knowing what to expect. We all (my husband, myself, three daughters 8, 12 and 13) absolutely loved it!!! It is funny, there is loads of audience participation and enough but not too much Harry Potter. Absolutely wonderful!!! Thanks so much

  • The kids loved it

I have a 20 year old and 16 year old, who read all the HP books and movies, and they couldn’t stop laughing the whole show.

  • Great Family Harry Potter Comedy

by JHow on 7/16/24Imagine Showroom at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Great show and if your kids are into Harry Potter even funnier. The guys were great and kept it lovely the entire 70 minutes. We took our 9 year old to it. He hates going to shows and came out saying it was awesome and had a great time. It’s a great show for any age. We’ll be back with other family that come to LV to visit.

  • A great Laugh!

by Nic on 7/12/24Imagine Showroom at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Was a great show overall. They didn't start seating until almost showtime, so maybe they were behind. I like that they had jokes for all ages and only one went a little far for the younger crowd. I had a 12 and 13 year old there with me.

We weren’t really sure what to expect but even if you’re not a Harry Potter fan, the show was fantastic. The audience was great and lots of participation, which made it even better
