Talk about magic!
British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about -- you guessed it -- Harry Potter.
Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.
One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character -- including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named -- with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).
Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

The show was fine, entertaining, but not roll in the aisles funny. When you factor ticket price into the mix, it becomes much less worth the trip out.
Great fun for any age! I was worried there would be a lot of kids, but there were more adults than kids so that was fun.
The whole experience was perfect ! The seats were comfortable, the play was very clever writing and brilliant acting. Parking was easy too ! What a beautiful building the Pantages theatre is ! I laughed through the whole show. I would highly recommend it !!!!!
This was the perfect show! Covered all the important parts and the actors have great chemistry. We laughed so hard we cried! My niece said she would totally go again.
Hilarious fun!!! Highly recommend for all Harry Potter fans!!
The show was fun but not worth the money. Our 6 year old didn’t get a lot of the jokes and he was bored so I wouldn’t recommend taking anyone that young. Our 9 year old did enjoy it though.
My Grandson (|16) said it was great. He was surprised at the "Adult" innuendo remarks. He didn't think the younger kids understood, but he did. Overall he thought it was funny and did reiterate the 7 books well.
I was looking for more detail on the books specifically, but it often times wandered off in other directions. I enjoyed the characters and they were funny but it wasn't as much about Harry Potter as I had hoped.
If you are looking for a reenactment of Harry Potter, you will be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a good time, a few laughs routed from all things Harry Potter at a decent price, and some good humor, you will have a great time.
Potted Potter was amazing. It was a hilarious show that teaches people of all ages. The show had me cracking up from opening till closing and they went out with a bang. The line between improve and the actual performance was so well done I would see this show every year. Go and enjoy!
Fun, funny, witty, and a great all around time. This show was a great blend of comedy script and improv. The two performers were great at interacting and engaging the crowd. We loved it and would recommend any Harry Potter fan go see it!!
The actors were great. The humor was smart and timely. Our family is really into Harry Potter and this was very well done. I appreciate the different styles of acting that they used throughout the show and the audience participation was an added bonus!! I would highly recommend this show!!
I’ve read all the Harry Potter books and seen all the movies so I was curious about this show. It was amazing! I laughed so hard my face hurt. The actors were amazing and did an awesome job. I loved all the pop culture references. I also liked that it was only 70 minutes so it was just the perfect length. Amazing!!!
We had no idea what to expect and were intrigued when we sat down and saw that it was a 2-man show. It took a few minutes to get warmed up but it was worth the ramp-up. This was hilarious and fast-moving - totally unexpected overall but also the audience participation was a lot of fun. We laughed nearly constantly - very fun for Harry Potter fans.
This was an amazing show top to bottom. One of the two actors roamed around the theater joking with people before the show. Audience got involved during the show. So many gut busting lines, by the time I got my breath back the show was over. I'd heartily recommend going!
It was a great experience! Funny for everyone. Lots of good jokes. I didnt even need to know anything about Harry Potter to enjoy this.
I enjoyed the show. It started off a little slow but picked up after a while. I'm glad I went but probably wasn't worth the $.
Took my 10yo (big Harry Potter fan!) and 8yo girls last Sunday, and they've been laughing about it ever since. My 8yo hasn't read much HP, but she still really enjoyed it! My 10yo isn't easily amused, but she laughed the whole time.
I cannot say enough about how much I loved this show. Funny, edgy, original and light-hearted! I've already recommended it to several fellow Potter fans. However, the venue involved free standing chairs and they packed way too many in a small small. I was sitting with my shoulders layered over top of each of the two people on either side of me, one of whom I had never met before. I found myself constantly folding in my limbs to prevent myself from constantly rubbing up against a stranger. It wasn't anything like anything I've seen in terms of seating and I was very surprised the venue seemed to not think much of it.
