About

Talk about magic!

British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about -- you guessed it -- Harry Potter.

Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.

One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character -- including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named -- with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).

Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

We were wondering how they would fit all 7 books into a 70 minute show and they did not disappoint. It was clever and funny. The two actors were even funny when they had to ad lib because a prop was broken or missing. Definitely recommend for Harry Potter fans!

The show was great entertainment. I recommend anytime looking for a funny break from the strip to show this show. I will take friends back to see when we go again.

Our group of six was ages 8-68 and we all enjoyed it! I do wish we had sat on the floor instead of in the “posh” seats. It would have been worth it to split up the group.

we took some friends from Wales who are tremendous Harry Potter fans (they have tattoos) and we loved it. we laughed and laughed, these two young men are fabulous. they act out all of the Harry Potter books, of course we had all read them and just enjoyed their take on them. also, the physical comedy they do is great. there was never a dull moment. i have to admit we were skeptical at first taking such big fans to a show, they have been to the London studios seven times, about Harry Potter, but they said it was one of the best nights ever. if i could give it more stars i would a TEN.

  • Potter fans will love this

Saw this with my 24 year old son and both of us laughed out loud the entire time. The performers were amazing and energetic, great show!

  • excellent, but not all seats are great

The show was as expected, generally enjoyed by everyone in our group of different ages. It is true that the theater is small but on the right side there is a huge column that blocked part of stage and was annoying to my husband and I who were on the right side of the gold section. There was also a railing that divided the platinum seats from the gold seats and reinforced the idea that the gold group was not allowed to participate in the cribbage game (which was also pointed out by the actor who said we should have paid for better seats). If you want to participate in some of the audience interaction humor go for the front row. If you want to be one of two cribbage 'seekers', be cute, elementary school age and sitting in the platinum section.

  • Fun for Potter fans of ALL ages

Bought the tickets for my husband for Fathers day. We took our 5 year old daughter with us. This show had us all cracking up. I think this is a great show for the Potter fanatic and just those who enjoyed the movies. All ages will have a great time. Thanks for coming to Vegas! We would definitely go see again and I would reccomend to friends and family.

High energy, lots of fun, very topical and timely, enjoyed immensely although the show has been around long enough that the props and effects could be upgraded. Still, I strongly recommend for a fun time

These guys had so much energy and created so many laughs. I seen them on their first night in Vegas and would go again. They came out before the show and shook EVERYONES hands. I felt this was very personable and made you feel good for spending so much money. You can tell they worked hard during the show and made it well worth the time and money! TEN POINTS TO GRIFFENDOR

  • Very disappointing

by Kevin on 3/12/19Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 2 out of 5

It was a wonderful concept, but only the Quidditch scene was fun. The rest was painful, and reciting the dialog so quickly only felt like they were trying to rip the bandaid off so it didn't hurt so much.

  • Amazing!

This show was hilarious! I would recommend to anyone who loves Harry Potter or anyone who wants a fun night out!

I went with my 7 year old son, and at one point he turned to me with this gigantic smile and said, “this is the funniest thing I’ve seen in my entire life!” Potted Potter has it all, we both had such a great time.

  • Good show
