Talk about magic!
British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about -- you guessed it -- Harry Potter.
Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.
One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character -- including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named -- with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).
Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

We saw Potted Potter tonight and it was AMAZING!!! Tonight we saw Brendan and Scott and we did not stop laughing. I had to use the napkins from my drink to wipe my eyes because I was crying. For the price and the size of the theater we were skeptical. But it was AWESOME! The guys were hilarious and genuine. I even loved that they themselves “broke” character a few times it made it all the more real! PLEASE DO NOT PASS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THIS SHOW! If you are a Harry Potter can you will love this even more. If you are a movie only person you will learn a new thing or two as well. This is such an unknown gem I will be recommending to EVERYONE I know! I will say the only thing I didn’t like is the price difference. The theater is so small, less than 100 I would guess, and it is not necessary to spend extra money to be in front. We bought GOLD section and were in the last row of that section... and we were only 25ft from the stage (maybe): we were in the 4th row. So save a little money!! But again... GO SEE THIS SHOW!!!! ❤️
This show will make you laugh for all 70 minutes. It is put on by 2 guys and they do an amazing job of playing ALL the Harry Potter characters. There's even a quidditch game
Anyone who loves Harry Potter will love this show. They are funny, clever, and very talented. We enjoyed it immensely!
We really enjoyed the show. We love Harry Potter and this was just hilarious.
My wife and I really enjoyed Potted Potter last weekend. It's goofy, fast paced, and really really funny. That being said, while you don't need to be a Harry Potter expert to get the jokes and enjoy the show, you do have to have some familiarity with the characters. (My wife and I actually watched all 8 HP movies again in the two weeks prior to the show as fun "pre-show homework". You DON'T have to do that to enjoy the show but it certainly did enrich the experience for us.) Someone who has no familiarity with the characters or the story lines won't get it. If you have someone in your party who is like that, don't make them come along with you... let them just have an hour and a half to do something else.
This show is hilarious. These two guys are really really funny.
Very funny, its hard to describe but great energy.
After seeing the show in NYC, the Vegas version was a treat with a more intimate setting in a small theater. The laughs kept coming and our whole group loved the show.
Hilarious! Even my friend who doesn't really care about Harry Potter was almost crying with laughter. I would see this show again in a heartbeat!
Meets the definition. Briefly and superficially summarizes all seven Harry Potter books. It's helps if you have read the books or seen the movies. Our group age 13 to 71 had a great time. Lots of laughs and audience participation. A great show well worth the price of admission.
Wonderful performance. Between the actors chemistry and the already hilarious script, I had a hard time breathing. The theater was much smaller than the picture made it look, which greatly added to the show.
This show was short and sweet, but so, so funny! A lot of audience interaction and a lot of laughs!
It'a a fast paced, low budget, 2-man, campy in a cute way, little show that will likely appeal to any Potter fan. After looking but not buying tickets, a 40%-off (only on the $100 seats) offer showed up in my Facebook feed. That made the front section the same prices as the back section ($60 per person). We felt that is about the right price for this cute little show. Had I paid the full $100 for gold we probably would have felt it wasn't worth it to us. It is a very small theater with only like 7 or 8 rows of seats so even the "cheap seats" were probably pretty good seats. If you really want first or second row, show up a little early as it is GA by section and you are let into the theater to pick your seats in the order you showed up.
If you are familiar with the Harry Potter books or movies then you should enjoy this. They basically go through the entire set of Harry Potter books, but it stays right on the movies so either would work. If you are not familiar with Harry Potter then this show may not be for you.
This show was SO fun! I had a few hours of free time between training sessions and thought this would be a good way to spend my time/money. I was not disappointed! It was funny, engaging and I am so glad I went.
I read all the books and saw the movies on Harry Potter and my husband watched the movies. We were not sure what to expect! We had a blast! The theater was close and intimate and there was a lot of interaction between the performers and audience. We haven't laughed so hard in a long time. If you have the chance it is a show you should see while here in Las Vegas.
I deliberately bought 'good' tickets so that I could be up close and personal during the show. I absolutely LOVE Harry Potter and could not wait to experience this. The reviews that I read ahead of time did not disappoint!!! It was a crowd of all adults (no littles) so when it came time for someone to volunteer to be Gryfindor's Seeker... well, I couldn't resist. The REAL actors were amazing with taking all of the crowd participation in stride. Needless to say, if you were at this show, you know that Grandma Seeker found her the snitch! HIGHLY recommend!! I hadn't laughed that hard for 70 minutes straight... ever! Thank you thank you!
If you’re a Harry Potter fan I highly recommend seeing their show. They are hilarious!
We had a blast at this show. These 2 actors will take you on a ride through all 7 Harry Potter books in 70 minutes. We laughed until we cried. The show is a very funny, satirical look at probably the most famous children's (and adult's) book series. We highly recommend this show.
