About

Talk about magic!

British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about -- you guessed it -- Harry Potter.

Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.

One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character -- including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named -- with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).

Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

  • Disappointing

by Dumbledore on 8/13/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

Was expecting insightful parody. Got silly. Very little knowledge of the stories evident. The more you know about HP or myth, the bigger waste of money this is.

  • Go in open-minded

by Court on 8/12/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

Actors worked very hard, high energy and I could visibly see the amount of sweat they had from their high effort, and I appreciate that work ethic. I wish they paid more tribute to the source material. We went because I, like many fans, are starved for fresh Harry Potter takes. I would describe it as more of low-brow improv type humor with a very low budget. The audience really seemed to enjoy it, but just wasn’t for us. It is a show I wouldn’t mind catching if a venue was putting it on, but I wouldn’t pay for it again.

  • Potter-ific Experience

by Jake on 8/11/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

The guys were funny and the content was accurate. It was a really enjoyable experience. The venue was small and comfortable. It was also a bit interactive.

  • Not worth it

Kind of funny but not really. Good try but missed !

  • Fun! Family friendly!

This was a comedy performance as expected and quite enjoyable.

  • Enjoyed, but ——

by Jody Boo on 8/4/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

Funny, whimsical, well performed spoof, entertaining but way overpriced.

  • Hilarious Fun!

by Serena Strauss on 8/2/21Rating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I recently saw this show in Las Vegas at Bally's Casino -- and I have to say, I have never laughed so hard in my life! I'm huge into Potter, and he is not -- but even he was cracking up! A must see!

  • Incredible Evening!

by Horcrux on 8/2/21Rating: 5 out of 5

My partner and I attended the show on a whim after seeing signs for it around town. We both loved it! The cast made us laugh and you could tell they were having fun on stage togehter. What a thrill to be in a theatre again laughing and howling with an entire audience. We'll be recommending it to anyone coming to Vegas!

  • Slapstick Comedy, not adult friendly

by T. H. on 7/25/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

My Wife and I, in our 30’s, love Harry Potter. We were looking for a cheaper show to add to our trip after splurging on Absinthe (amazing). I saw this and read reviews that said it was Famiky Friendly. What they didn’t say was it’s not adult friendly. The comedy in this show would be A+ for my 10-year old nephew. Repeating the same joke twice was funny, but times 5-12 of the same thing lost it’s luster. We walked out after 30 minutes and I apologized to my Wife. Also, it’s in a weird “ballroom”. A pillar blocks some of the chairs view. AC in the room is very loud and not keeping the room very cool. Just nothing adds to the atmosphere. Weird show.

  • Fantastic for all!

by Big Al on 2/29/20The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I aren't big HP fans, but our 10 year son is. All 3 of us spent the entire hour laughing! Just two people on stage managed to carried the whole room the whole time. Just fantastic! Highly recommended by all 3 of us!

  • Fun in the afternoon

by Heather on 2/29/20The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

These two really give it their all in an unforgettable afternoon performance. I love to laugh and these two had me giggling from the beginning to the end! Thanks for a great experience!

  • Funniest show in Vegas

by Peter A on 2/27/20The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Literally the best show in Vegas, (unless you don’t like Harry Potter. - but then you have serious other issues to deal with) I’ve seen every cirque show; absinthe & every crappy drag queen. If you like Harry Potter, even mildly, you’ll like this show. I would have paid 3x as much. 12 out of 10, I recommend it.

  • Even better than I hoped!

by Hank on 2/25/20Rating: 5 out of 5

Absolute must see for anyone even remotely a Harry Potter fan! The production was a perfect balance of campiness, "cheap-but-on-purpose"ness, and pure banter between two friends performing. The performance got off track early in a good way and stayed hilarious throughout! Even those not big "nerds" in our group were laughing their heads off. Would recommend to anyone & definitely will be going back!

  • Hidden Hilariousness!

by Pete on 2/25/20The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I have lived in Vegas now for 5 years and honestly had never heard of the show. Our niece came into town and loved the Harry Potter books and she heard there was a show in town so we bought tickets for her. You don't have to remember everything about the books or movies, because this show takes you through all seven books in their own hilarious way. I didn't stop laughing for 70 minutes. The theater is small and intimate and there's even some audience participation. Go see this show, it's one of the best here in town!

  • Good comedy

by Raymond_S on 2/20/20The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

This is a comedic standup by 2. Yes, it’s Harry Potter themed but the laughter comes mostly from slapstick and banter between the 2. Come with that expectation and you’ll have a blast like we did.

  • So much better than expected

by N. N. on 2/20/20The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

I am a parent who’s not into Harry Potter but I have a couple daughters who love it. I went with low expectations and walked away with my stomach hurting from how funny the event was. I strongly suggest you upgrade and take the time to get there early as the open seating with the higher level tickets house you a good chance to be part of the show, which is worth it! I won’t tell you why because I don’t want to spoil her

  • So funny!

by PotterFan on 2/13/20The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

It was hilarious, entertaining, and was an overall good explanation of the books!

  • Love the energy

by Vegas Local 702 on 1/27/20The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Nick and Callum were high energy and kept the show going the entire time. Very small, intimate setting. Appropriate for the whole family, Harry Potter fans or not.

  • My child's favorite show in Vegas

by Shonnie on 1/8/20The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

We did several shows and experiences in Vegas, including Blue Man Group, a magician, the Marvel experience, etc. This was hands down my 7 year old's favorite and it had my husband and I laughing out loud. They also did a meet and greet afterward, which was awesome that they took the time to do that.

  • Hilarious

Potted Potter was a hilarious and interactive show. I would recommend this show to others.
