About

Talk about magic!

British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about -- you guessed it -- Harry Potter.

Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.

One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character -- including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named -- with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).

Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

  • Boring and random.

by Summer on 10/31/21Rating: 2 out of 5

Two books into the show, I wanted to follow the group who left. Random and boring. Its like they were making it up as they were going along. Not worth $15 let alone $60 or more.

  • Great show!

by Dad on 10/26/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent show! Very funny and family friendly. The whole family loved it - both parents and kids (13, 11). The theatre is very small and in our experience you really don’t need to pay extra for better seats if you don’t want to.

  • Awesome show

by Patrick on 10/13/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

You wouldn't think a Vegas show could be kid friendly AND adult friendly, but they pull it off wonderfully. The intimate theater is perfect for this, and the actors are top notch. Probably the most amazing thing is that you know these guys do this show hundreds if not thousands of times, yet it always seems very spontaneous and fresh. I honestly don't like a lot of Vegas shows, but this one is awesome.

  • Way way way way slow story line was stupid.

Never never again waste of money and time put 100$ in a machine better chance.

  • Fun 90 minutes

by Mike D on 10/10/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This is an intimate high energy show with two guys - a goofball and a straight-man. They do a really good job of having fun with retelling the Potter series.

  • Hilarious and smart!

by Yamz on 10/8/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the best shows we’ve ever seen not only in Las Vegas but anywhere. The guys were hilarious. We will definitely try and catch the show again. My wife is a huge Harry Potter fan and me so/so she loved it and so did I. Great show guys!

  • Really funny but little cheesy

by GE on 10/5/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

If you are a Harry Potter fan, it will be funny. A little strained or cheesy at some points, but it’s kept family friendly and definitely funny and clever. I enjoyed it.

  • Potted Potter

by Mrs Moore on 10/3/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Cute and funny recap of my beloved Harry Potter tales. My husband has not read the books nor watched the movies however he enjoyed it as well. Don’t expect many details in a 70 minute show! Small little venue upstairs in Bally Casino which was very cozy. The seats were comfortable and we were able to see the whole show perfectly.

  • Potted should be potted

by KM on 9/23/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

Love Harry Potter books and films. Was excited for this, especially after reading rave reviews. Sophomoric at best. Certainly not anything I would have expected in Vegas. High School, maybe.

  • Comedy + Wizardry

by Ash Bash on 9/19/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

For 70 minutes, Potted Potter has a a lot of puns from other films. The duo brothers did a splendided job with the work they are given. A true comedy on witch-craft and wizardry.

  • 38th Anniversary

by C. G. on 9/8/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

If you need a good laugh go see these two. They were hilarious. Very good performance. We celebrated our 38th anniversary by going to see them. It was well worth the money. We had a great time.

  • Funny but small...

by mbhatia on 9/1/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

It was funny, but a really small show. 2 people doing the entire show. Would be nice if they had a bigger set or actually perform some magic in their show. I think 4 out of 5 stars is a really generous score.

  • Great, if you're 8!

by JDubs on 8/29/21The Magic Attic at Bally's Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

As a devoted fan of the Harry Potter series, I was super excited to see Potted Potter, especially after reading all of the glowing reviews. What I experienced was equivalent to a mediocre improv performance for third graders. If you're over the age of 12, save your Benjamins for one of the HP Parks at Universal.

  • It was way better than I expected

by Sfett on 8/24/21Rating: 5 out of 5

I’ve only seen snippets of Harry Potter movies, my daughter is the one who loves it. I brought her to this show as a birthday present. I expected to sit through a long hour while she enjoyed herself but I have to say I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. They had me laughing the whole time. My daughter is hard to impress and she went on and on about it the whole way home. Even if you aren’t a die hard fan and only know a little about Harry Potter you will still love and enjoy this show.

  • Amazingly Funny!

This show entertained all our kids from 8-16 years old, even the one that isn’t a Harry Potter fan. It was funny and engaging. We will definitely be seeing it the next time we’re back in Vegas!
