About

Talk about magic!

British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about -- you guessed it -- Harry Potter.

Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.

One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character -- including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named -- with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).

Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

These guys were absolutely hilarious. My husband and I are big HP fans, but honestly, we would’ve watched these guys do a skit on anything because they were just that funny of a duo. Definitely recommend to anyone and everyone who enjoys a good time.

The worst. Terrible set. Bad script. Needs a good director. The 2 actors had a lot of energy. That's about it.

Just a great, light show. If you love Harry Potter, you'll enjoy this manic, hilarious, goofy and fun show. The guys have amazing energy and really seem to be enjoying themselves during the performance. Audience interaction is top notch and the manic pace of the show means no lulls in the action. 70 minutes is perfect for the show and you'll leave with a big smile on your face.

  • Fun for the whole family

by Matt on 10/26/23Chevalier Theatre - MedfordRating: 5 out of 5

This show was a lot of fun. The two leads are obviously having a lot of fun with each other and it shows. They use a few different story telling styles and techniques to keep things fresh. While as an adult I found some parts to be a cringe, overall I had a wonderful time and my kids were amused. Quidditch was AMAZING!

  • An average experience

DO NOT PAY EXTRA for seating. The room is pretty small I did not think I got good value paying for the premium seats. The show itself was ok loosely follows the Harry Potter books and is a two man small stage loosely improvised stage show. The audience is also used for a couple moments during the show and I would say is more geared towards children if your kids are with you you may enjoy it more.

  • Funny, even if you’re not familiar

by Frang on 10/5/23The Magic Attic at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

I’m a Harry Potter expert, but I can say you could have gone into this show with minimal knowledge of Harry Potter and still have enjoyed yourself. The performers were very entertaining and the fun they were having doing the performance transferred to the viewers.

  • Mildly Amusing

by Sir Timothy on 10/4/23The Magic Attic at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

Not ROFL. Slight grin at some points. I would think a little too British for many Americans, except the HP fans. The audience participation bits were more improvised and quite entertaining. You would probably spend more at a restaurant or in the casino, so overall good value for money.

  • I don't regret it

I enjoyed it. There were funny moments where I cried laughing. Liked the crowd interaction. I wasn't sure at first but by the end I was happy I went 😁

It was a most enjoyable evening. Loved playing quidditch, in the audience, I even got to hit the ball. Our team scored a goal!!! Plus the two kids that were selected to play the keepers were great. Liked that the evening was very kid friendly.

This show was hilarious! I started laughing as soon as the anctors came out onto the stage to talk to some of the crowd members! This is a must see if you like Harry Potter.

  • BEST SHOW IN VEGAS!!

by SlytherinCutie on 9/26/23The Magic Attic at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Honestly the funniest and most original show I have ever seen! We were nonstop laughing and barely had a voice once it was over!! We are huge Harry Potter fans and to see it told in this way was just so amazing! I hope they travel to my state so I can go again and take my kid! Definitely a must see show!!

  • The worst- waste of time & money!!!!

by Hari on 9/20/23Rating: 1 out of 5

The show is just a couple of guys trying so hard to be goofy, it is not funny. Total waste of time and money, totally regretted being in the hall within the first 5 mins. Serious Harry potter fans - please stay away!! Of all the stage shows we have watched, this is our worst experience. Another review mentioned they don't get positive reviews, I don't either. Last, they mentioned a live quidditch match in one of their marketing flyers, it is just the audience moving left and right and nothing else. The worst, please do not go.

  • Fabulous adventure!!

by Beth on 9/15/23The Magic Attic at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Well, this show was just delightful. The two actors were so fabulous and their moments of ad lib were just as funny and fabulous as the scripted moments. It's silly and light hearted and really a great experience.

  • Worst show in vegas

by Don’t do it on 9/12/23The Magic Attic at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

I’ve seen a lot of shows in vegas, this was honestly the worst. Maybe not my type of humor not sure, had good reviews that I now don’t understand. If it was free I wouldn’t go again. To each they’re own but definitely better options in vegas.
