About

Talk about magic!

British comedy actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner have distilled all 4,200 pages of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels into one brilliantly hilarious 70-minute show. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience is a lovably loopy two-person performance in which a Potter know-it-all teams up with a rebellious Harry newbie to create a show about -- you guessed it -- Harry Potter.

Clarkson and Turner conceived the show in 2005 as a five-minute sidewalk synopsis to amuse customers queued up for Rowling's sixth Harry novel. They expanded it to an hour the following year and opened at Edinburgh's Zoo Southside. European tours ensued, and in 2012 Potted Potter was nominated for two Olivier Awards, the highest honor in British theater. The show made its off-Broadway debut the same year and has since toured all over the United States and the world. After opening in 2018, the family-friendly Las Vegas production won Best of Last Vegas Awards for Best New Production and Best Value Show.

One actor channels a bookish Harry in Potted Potter while another plays every other character -- including Ron and Hermione, Draco Malfoy, Snape, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, Dumbledore and, of course, He Who Must Not Be Named -- with wild abandon. Loads of wigs and other goofy props are employed in a nonstop laugh fest that also features a fire-breathing dragon, countless costume changes, brilliant songs, a plethora of props and even a Quidditch match encouraging audience participation (but no brooms, alas).

Accessible to Potter freaks and newbies alike, Potted Potter blends slapstick in the Laurel & Hardy vaudeville tradition with the wildly witty dialogue associated with Monty Python's Flying Circus. "Potting" is a British term for "the art of summarizing something into a digestible form," and, like all the best parodies, Clarkson and Turner's Harry experience is both splendid spoof and heartfelt homage.

  • Excellent show!

This was such a fun show! I highly recommend to any Harry Potter lover! Such a cute and quaint theatre and the cast did an excellent job of incorporating the audience and making us laugh throughout. A very clever show.

  • Good for kids but so/so for adults

by WnnaBsd8ed on 11/26/23Imagine Showroom at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

Pros and Cons: Pros: I liked the actors. They engaged well with the audience especially children. There were funny moments for adults and children. Cons: There was no effort to make the set actually have anything of Harry Potter. It was just funny gag items. Both actors are British and the actor who plays all the characters except HP spoke so fast and in such a strong British accent I could barely understand him. (Kids didn't seeme to care, tho). It was only mildly entertaining and pricey for what we got.

  • Fun Show!

I had a lot of fun at this show! The theater is small and intimate meaning there isn't a bad seat in the house (so don't feel like you need to pay extra for the front row seats). The performers were energetic, engaging, and interacted with the crowd making the show very entertaining. It was cute and silly and enjoyable and was a great way to spend part of the afternoon in Vegas. Great for adults and kids!

  • A delightfully funny show

Saw this show in Las Vegas and it was hilarious. The energy they keep up is incredible and the comedic timing is spot on

  • Not my cup of tea

by Rich on 11/13/23Imagine Showroom at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

I guess I wasn’t expecting it to be the way it was now my teenage daughter loved it but my teenage son hated it my wife and myself really didn’t enjoy it for the money we spent I should of looked into it before I bought

  • Better be drinking for the show.

by JJ on 11/12/23Imagine Showroom at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

Maybe worth a $10 bar show. Two men playing 12 year olds on the stage.

This was a great show. Absolutely hilarious from beginning to the end. I would definitely recommend this show. Looking forward to seeing them again.

  • Perfect Family Treat

by TedMom on 11/5/23Rating: 5 out of 5

We were looking for something to entertain the whole family on a special weekend in Vegas, and Potted Potter did not disappoint. Nick and James were a hilarious duo and my son even got called up on stage during Quidditch, which was a lot of fun. I’ve not read the books or seen the films myself, but this was a great intro to the Potter world for sure!

  • Bright Lights, Lackluster Script

by Professor Snape on 11/3/23Imagine Showroom at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 1 out of 5

Hardworking actors lacking substantive material. For fans of Harry Potter- mostly disappointing. Expectation of Potter World not met. Did Satire fall short due to lack of legal access to actual story elements?

  • Belly Laughs from Beginning to End

by TMBanks on 11/3/23Imagine Showroom at Horseshoe Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

As a Potterhead, I am always interested in a new Potter opportunity. My husband and I decided to get tickets to the Vegas show during our trip. This is one of the best shows on the Vegas Strip. Clever and hilarious! We laughed from start to finish and enjoyed the interactive nature of the show. Not only do I highly recommend this show to anyone, but I would absolutely see it again and again!

  • Don't waste your money

by ALLY on 11/1/23Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 2 out of 5

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I don't know what this was. I would have paid ten dollars and not a penny more for a ticket. Sure they are funny and good actors but this is just two teenagers talking on stage with bad props. This is nothing to do with Harry Potter.

  • Okay-ish

by JML on 11/1/23Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 3 out of 5

The duo had great energy and good chemistry, it was fun watching them with all the silly antics but it just wasn’t exactly what I expected based on the description of the show. I didn’t leave there thinking I had to tell everyone what a shoe this was not to miss, and that’s what I was hoping for.

  • One of the best shows

If you love Harry Potter and comedy, than this is the show for you. It’s so amazing!

  • Ummmm…

by DV on 11/1/23Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 1 out of 5

Didn’t enjoy this. We actually walked out. Thought it was going to be funnier than just two guys acting maniacally on stage. This was geared more for little kids than adults.

  • Fantastic Show

by Karmel on 11/1/23Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 5 out of 5

We took our 11 year old to see the show and she LOVED it!

  • Interesting concept but there's room for improvement

by Ringmastr1 on 10/31/23Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 4 out of 5

There were a bunch of funny spots throughout the show but some of the jokes were either too deep for the average HP fan, or they simply needed a little more time to let the joke develop. The guys worked very hard and I did LOL a bunch of times. It would have been a nice touch to let the kids who volunteered keep the hats as souvenirs.

  • Just okay

by Terry on 10/31/23Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 2 out of 5

Although, I did laugh out loud a few times I would have left early had I not been sitting dead center of a row of people. I am not sure what I was expecting but the show just didn't do anything for me. I honestly can not recommend it nor would I be willing to see it again even if it was free :(

  • A fun show

by Dancermlm on 10/31/23Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed Potted Potter at Foxwoods. It was very fun and fast paced. I thought it might contain more than it did, but they did cover all 7 books. It was a bit more adult than expected, but luckily did not cross to far over the line as there were children in the audience.

  • Family Friendly Fun and Laughter

by Gvino on 10/31/23Great Cedar Showroom at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 5 out of 5

Potted Potter is an absolute MUST SEE for an Harry Potter fan. Although short, the show exudes an energy and liveliness that envelopes and engages the entire audience. Clever, witty, and incredibly funny, the show is great for wizarding fans of all ages. The constant activity and interaction with the audience was masterful.
