  • Pretty but expensive

    by October176 on 10/20/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 3 out of 5

This was my 4.5 yrs old daughter's first OBT experience. The 1 hour show was just right for her and what appeared to be many other children. The ballerinas even came out for a few minutes to answer questions which my daughter thought was really wonderful. I think this experience was one for the memory bank. My only negative comment was the price of the tickets. I had to pay the same price for a shortened 1 hr, recorded music show as I would have for a full performance. Would like to see OBT and the Performing Arts offer ticket prices to scale of the performance.

Great show. They shortened it to a good length for kids and kept the 'meat' of the story intact. Dancing was amazing and costumes were beautiful and colorful. My kids (4 and 2) loved it!

  • Sleeping Beauty was Beautiful!!

Everything about the show from start to finish was fabulous. Costuming, music, dance - it was amazing. I was sorry when it was over.

  • Sleeping Beauty Matinee not worth it

    by JAHARRI2 on 10/18/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 3 out of 5

Hi! The dancing was great, the sets were beautiful, but it wasn't clear that when I purchased matinee tickets that the show would be shortened to one hour. I feel a little cheated... if you do want the full experience, be sure to actually attend a night performance.

  • not even disney on pointe

by retiredballerina on 10/18/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 2 out of 5

Puss'N Boots, Little red Riding hood, Bluebird, and Princess Farina do NOT belong in Sleeping Beauty. Had I known the ballet was altered as such I would not have attended. It would have been nice to see the Lilac Fairy do the signature solo. The Aurora and Prince Pas de deux was adequate.

  • Fantastic

by SteveAndTina on 10/17/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Sleeping Beauty was a wonderful and fantastic event. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The dancing was beautiful, the costumes gorgeous and colorful, and the story, of course, enchanting!

I loved it! Such talent those dancers have. The outfits were amazing with all the detail. I can say enough good things about the entire show! AMAZING!

  • Absolutely beautiful Sleeping Beauty

    by serene42 on 10/16/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Sometimes, in a world that can be full of stress and ugliness, it is nice to go and enjoy an evening of beautiful things. This was such an evening. The sets were so pretty, the costumes were beautiful and the story itself romantic. I'm always astounded by the athletic prowess of these dancers; they did not disappoint in Sleeping Beauty. Also, it was so nice to have the actual orchestra playing rather than recorded music. Highly recommend this!

  • Well done!

I saw Sleeping beauty in Tokyo about 10 years ago with Sylvie Guillem. While she was specutacular, the stage preparation/ decoration, costume colors and supporting dancers were better in this OBT presentation, not to mention the live orchestra.

The Sleeping Beauty ballet was amazing in many ways. The choreography was incredible and interesting, the dancers so well trained and very beautiful, the orchestra added just the right touch to a wonderful experience. Last but not least, the sets and costumes were fabulous which made my evening memorable. Thank you, Oregon Ballet!

  • Sleeping Beauty was great

    by CollegeHall82 on 10/16/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

It's been a few years since i've seen a ballet so i was not sure what to expect. I was overall very impressed. The choreography was great. The music was outstanding. Was done so well that the performance received a standing ovation at the end. I would def recommend this to be seen since it's a new production and is just overall a making for a great night.

  • See Sleeping Beauty

by artcrap on 10/16/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Sleeping Beauty was spectacular. Really gorgeous, athletic dancing. Guessing it'll be the best performance for OBT's '10-'11 season.

  • Not entirely impressed.........

by MommyinOR on 10/16/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 2 out of 5

My problem was definately with the last third of this ballet; the same couples kept coming back, strutting their stuff, huge applause, then one would come back, dance, huge applause, then the other would come out, do their solo, huge applause, and then both again together, and so on with 3 different couples. It seemed to me it was just a showcase of talent- which is fine, but over and over and over..........I got tired of seeing the same thing repeatedly. I fled as soon as I could without being ovelry rude.

  • The Sleeping Beauty - Stellar

by AEVHC on 10/16/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The music, the costumes, the dancing, simply stellar! It was a wonderful evening. Even the little children in the audience were spellbound for the entire 2 1/2 hour performance. A must see!
