Excellent in every way. Choreography was superb. Costumes were outstanding.

  • The Nutcracker was Amazing

    by kimbesaw44 on 12/17/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing this performance and it was so magical. It really helped complete my holiday season.

  • Orchestra sorely missed

by Anonymous on 12/16/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Ticketing was fine. Would have liked to know this performance did NOT include the live music which so enriches the experience; would probably have picked a different night to go!.

The stage effects were amazing!! It is indeed a show that could be enjoyed both by adults and kids.

  • Holiday Revue

by Blazes on 12/15/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The singer was particullarily impressive! Great voice, staying power to sing for a solid hour which include some difficult and complicated phrasing such as the Hannuka number. OBT dacers are in the main excellent. The smallest male dancer showed his Kirov training and his personality was charming. I was put off by the anorexic appearance of one of the female dancers which I supose is the price paid for endless hours at the bar practicing their art. .

  • Holiday Revue

    by CEV1 on 12/15/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

I was real excited to go see the OBT Holiday Revue and while the music and dancing were great, I was a little upset that my $77.00 only got me an hours worth of it! I have rec commended it to my friends but I also warn them that it is a pricey event to go to.

The ballet was beautiful. Our girls, ages 8, 11 and 16 loved the costumes and music. We will plan on this event for part of our Christmas celebration next year also.

I definitely felt cheated. The ballet was fine, as it is every year, but there was no live orchestra. Very disappointing.

  • No live music?

by Anonymous on 12/15/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

I loved the ballet, always do, but the night I went there was no live band, In the program it had a full spread of 'how important live music is to the ballet'. I was disappointed. That is half the reason I go. Once I got over the recorded music I could enjoy the performance, but I wish it would have warned me before I spent the money to go. I wouldn't go again without the full orchestra.

  • OBT Nutcracker was disappointing

by Anonymous on 12/14/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 2 out of 5

The overall production was disappointing. There appeared to be a shortage of dancers and no strong male lead. The Russian dance was lost and the Arabian dance lacked luster (partially because the accompanying music was a little too fast for the dance). While the overall production was disappointing, the orchestra was wonderful and the Sugar Plum Fairy stole the show.

  • Lovely!

by Rebegrdes on 12/13/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Starting the holiday season by attending the Nutcracker has become a beloved tradition. The program was beautiful, as always, and the dancing in particular was superb this year. Standout performances by Yuka Iino, Candace Bouchard, Chauncey Parsons and Annastasia Beller.

  • OBT Holiday Revue

by Skatequeen on 12/13/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

It was nice to see some ballet during the holidays that was not The Nutcracker. This was a very light-hearted, fun ballet. The live musicians were a great touch. Susannah Mars has a beautiful and flexible voice.

  • Nutcracker was so special to me!!!

by PortlandTash on 12/13/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I had the most wonderful day on Sunday! That event was so special and awesome. I really loved it! I can't wait for the next event!

  • Indispensable for the Christmas Season!

    by Councilor408 on 12/13/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The beauty and pageantry of the Ballet is excellent! The music was flawless. The ballet skills of the group are unexcelled! The Christmas holiday would not be complete without seeing the Nutcracker!

  • A Holiday...Revue...to remember

by MLPortland on 12/13/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

I took my mother to this event...and we both loved it. The music, the dance and the stage sets were classy and beautiful in their simplicity. Susannah Mars is so exceptional and the combination of dance with the band made for a festive evening. Thank you Christopher. I hope OBT is able to make this a Holiday ritual.

Very good. A great event for the family. We had a great time.

  • Nutcracker

by djal on 12/13/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 3 out of 5

This first half had too many children in it. Not much ballet. A lot of running (ballet style) around on stage. Would have preferred more parts cast with adults or more mature dancers. The second half was wonderful. It's what we came to see. Very skilled and graceful ballet dancing. The music was fantastic throughout the show!

by Rumdinger on 12/13/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 2 out of 5

The first half of the show was very boring. The second half was better but my overall experience was forgettable. Some of the dancers were fantastic and the set display was wonderfull.

  • Sleeping beauty was cut short

by lissipoo on 11/1/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 3 out of 5

Nothing listed that I was going to a kiddie version of the ballet sleeping beauty. I was very upset to only see 1/3 of the dances. The best parts were cut out, like the part where the prince kisses the princess. Come on, that's the whole point of the story! The dancers themselves were excellent, I just wish that I had been informed it was a condensed version for kids and not for adult viewing audiences.

  • Fabulous Ballet

by Woosker on 10/31/10Keller Auditorium - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

My mother, daughter and I loved The Sleeping Beauty Ballet. It was absolutely beautiful. The music was fabulous and the talent of the dancers outstanding. Very pleased.
