About

Winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards including BEST MUSICAL, ONCE is a truly original Broadway experience. Featuring an impressive ensemble of actor/musicians who play their own instruments onstage, ONCE tells the enchanting tale of a Dublin street musician who's about to give up on his dream when a beautiful young woman takes a sudden interest in his haunting love songs. As the chemistry between them grows, his music soars to powerful new heights... but their unlikely connection turns out to be deeper and more complex than your everyday romance. Emotionally captivating and theatrically breathtaking, ONCE draws you in from the very first note and never lets go. It's an unforgettable story about going for your dreams... not living in fear... and the power of music to connect all of us.

    Brilliant and honest theater

by Thommjo on 1/11/14Boston Opera House - Boston

"Once" is a unique example of musical theater. The style is folksy and original; the acting is innocent and genuine and the stylized movement and staging is graceful and moving. This is marvelous theater.

Expected better given the awards they've won

It was a nice show but a bit boring. The music sounded the same throughout most of the show. We sat in the mezzanine and it was difficult to hear. The actors could have worn mikes to improve the sound. I pity the folks up in the balcony

    ONCE

Great love story and music. I thought the acoustics were not as good as they could have been. I could not hear the words to the first two songs. I thought that the audience should've been able to hear the "specific words to the songs.".

    Why all the swear words?

by Chulpo on 1/10/14Boston Opera House - Boston

My wife & I were given tickets ($98.00 / each) as a gift. We could have gone to the local bar room in our town and heard the the same profanity for a lot less money.

    Once and Done

by vokie on 1/10/14Boston Opera House - Boston

Disappointed..especially as a noted Tony Award Winner!! Low key...not enough notable moments. Sound was terrible up in the balcony...hatd to hear...don't they test run these and then should have amplified the music. Wrong venue being in the Opera House...not a large production !! Will not recommend to others..

Once was a lot of fun

by sk8eextr on 1/10/14Boston Opera House - Boston

The performance was excellent, many talented musicians. Patrons really seemed to enjoy being invited on stage prior to the start of the show and during intermission. I wasn't sure my husband would like the play, but he really enjoyed it too.

    Once at the Opera House

by Beezerino on 1/10/14Boston Opera House - Boston

I had seen the original cast of this show on Broadway, so I was a little leery to see it again. This touring version, however, does not disappoint. Equal in talent and production value. This show is full of great music, has a great story line and is very creatively staged. Audience members are invited onstage before the show and during intermission (in limited numbers) and are able to purchase drinks at a bar that is part of the set. This is a feature of the show I wasn't sure would follow the touring edition. Makes for a truly unique experience!! Sound quality suffered a bit at the beginning, some audience members complained they couldn't hear. This seemed to rectify as the show went on.
