  • Not the Nutcracker

by Brayden on 12/21/24Rating: 1 out of 5

Definitely not the nutcracker that you’re used to. They don’t even have the sugarplum fairies. It’s very underwhelming to be honest lots of untrained little kids running around.

  • Beautiful!

The Nutcracker Magical Christmas Ballet was wonderful! The theatre was packed with lots of children but also middle-aged and older folks. We took my Dad for his 84th birthday. The sets were beautifully decorated and the colors were so vivid. The costumes were also beautifully done.

All of the actors did an Amazing job! I had a student who was part of the cast. I was very proud of her. The music was nice! The intermission was an appropriate time length.

  • Very nice

by Michelle on 12/19/24Jacobs Music Center - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I liked the original "plot"in the second half and very much enjoyed the lead dancer in the first half. Nice to see the same story portrayed a little differently. Dancing was delightful. Wonderful to watch all the children dancing. I think there were about 30 in all.

  • Where was the orchestra?

by TL on 12/19/24Jacobs Music Center - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

They need more practice. Where was the orchestra? Disappointed to say the least.

I went with my daughter and granddaughters. The facility and workers were wonderful. We enjoyed the show very much and especially the quality of the dancers and costumes and sets. We would liked to have more food options.

  • Not my favorite venue, but nice execution

by SuZq on 12/18/24Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 4 out of 5

It was a smaller company than we are used to. The dancers did really great, but we prefer a larger and more decked-out theater. The uptown Charlotte option is more glorious and festive, comfortable and exciting. The drab lobby & undecorated theatre were underwhelming. I guess we missed that more than we thought. The set & costumes were definitely nice enough. The Arabian dancers were great. The kids were adorable. The. Temperature was not too cold, the staff polite, the sound quality good. We were on the 4th row (D) from the front, 3rd & 4th seats in, but it was so hard to see the whole stage with heads directly in front of us. I’m glad we did not bring a young child. It was annoying for me (not being a tall person). I could not see the whole stage EVER. And had to cock my head during the show. Other theatres offer better spacing too. Amount of time and intermission time was good. Lighting was good. The seats were ok comfortable enough, but the intermission was welcome! We would not come back to this small of a set, stage, or theatre, but I guess you get what you pay for.

  • Left Half Way

by Shoemaven25 on 12/18/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 2 out of 5

I didn't realize when I purchased the tickets that it was a dance recital for little kids. The entire audience was moms, dada, grands and aunties. So lots of talking, coughing, picture taking, etc.

  • Really Good Show

    by Chris K on 12/18/24Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Always take my daughter to the NutCracker - this one was a little different in a good way from the other Nutcracker (All Ballet) - still the same great story and lots of ballet - but has some dancing and other stuff that made it very entertaining

  • Lots of fun!

by Lacy on 12/18/24Ovens Auditorium - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

This show was such a fun twist on a classic. My girls (5 & 8) loved the second act. The only downside to the show was the venue allowing people to be seated up to 30 mins after the show started. Everytime this happened in front of us we missed moments of the performance. There were at least 7 times they walked people in during the first act.

  • Great show!

by Jess on 12/17/24The Pasadena Civic - PasadenaRating: 4 out of 5

The show was great, unfortunately the people wouldn’t stop talking for me to enjoy it even more.

  • Wonderful Performance and experience

by George on 12/17/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

The Nutcracker was an extremely wonderful performance. Seeing the local dancers and children on stage was exciting. The cast of The Nutcracker put on the most stellar performance. I am NOT disappointed that I went. I was thoroughly entertained. It was a great start to my own Christmas journey this year. Getting to and from the performance was a much better experience than I had anticipated. All the Event staff were extremely wonderful as well---extremely nice and polite and informative. I am looking forward to my next visit.

  • The Best!

This was The best Nutcracker experience my family has had the pleasure to enjoy!

  • Lovely Performance - Mediocre Venue

by Nanan on 12/17/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

The ballet did a magnificent job performing the Nutcracker. My grandchildren were enthralled! However, the North Charleston Performing Arts Center needs to seriously step up their game. I have attended various ballet/musical performances in other states, and have never seen how lax this venue has towards theater etiquette. MANY late arrivals and attendees popping up and down for bathroom/concession breaks! Crazy! Nonstop! It really took a lot away from the show, and so rude to the performers who worked so hard to do their best. The people of Charleston should be embarrassed.
