  • A different kind of night

by JG on 12/29/24McAllen Performing Arts Center - McAllenRating: 5 out of 5

First time seeing The nutcracker at the Performing Art Center in McAllen. What a wonderful night! Great from beginning to end. I felt entertained and engaged throughout the presentation. There’s something magical about ballet and the nutcracker was not the exception. Dancer and performer from youngest to oldest were incredibly talented. So blessed to have been able to be there. Wishing you all the best for the rest of the season ✨❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  • Disappointing

by Rebekah on 12/29/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 2 out of 5

This was our first time attending the Nutcracker at DPAC. We go every year and usually try different venues. I had high expectations considering the description on the website, DPAC’s reputation, and the cost of the tickets. I’ll start by saying the staff were all very friendly and the venue was clean. As for the ballet itself…where to begin? I should’ve read closer to see there was no live orchestra. That’s my fault, but it is an expectation I have at that price point. The principal dancers were good. But the rest of the corps made it seem like amateur hour at your local community theatre. The children were cute but did not know what they were doing and I felt like they were put there as a distraction from the subpar dancing that was happening on the other parts of the stage. At one point a male dancer stumbled and almost dropped his female counterpart (Russian dance). There was very little synchronization between the dancers. The set felt amateurish as well with the cheesy projection lights and no “snow” falling during the Waltz of the Snowflakes. Overall, a big disappointment.

  • Excellent

by TMS on 12/28/24The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5

Very well professionally done. My 2 grandchildren ages 9 and 7 loved it this was their first experience of seeing the Nutcracker. We thought my 7-year old grandson would get bored and restless. Not so he was captivated throughout the show. At intermission I asked him what he thought and he gave a 2 thumbs up. At the end of the show when people began to stand up he stood up and stated very boldly: "That was amazing"! it was well worth spending a holiday seeing a live show with family.

  • Worth a look at least once

by Liz on 12/28/24Arizona Financial Theatre - PhoenixRating: 3 out of 5

The event did not start promptly at the time it was posted for, but I appreciate that extra 15 minutes as getting situated can take a while. I feel like there wasn't very many performers making it feel like a small scale show. The lighting was a little too dark for my licking throughout the show. Loved the music and dancers. Worth seeing at least once.

  • Wonderful Holiday Experience

by Jan on 12/28/24Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

This was the best Nutcracker I’ve seen. It was professional with graceful dancers. The props, costumes and lighting were all just magical. I hope this team comes back to Chattanooga as I would love to see them again and again!

  • Very amateur production .

by Family Outing on 12/27/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 2 out of 5

Overall it is a “cute” production however the skill of the dancers is noticeably lacking. Their timing was consistently off which made everything distracting .

The performance was excellent, but the people who continued to show up late were disruptive.

My husband and I really enjoyed the show and are going to see it again next year

  • For the most part it was good.

by Flyboy on 12/26/24Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 4 out of 5

Concessions pricey for the venue. Restrooms\Bathrooms cannot handle the crowds. The actual show was great!

  • Magical Indeed!

The performance was incredibly beautiful, the sets were gorgeous, and the costumes were exquisite.

The Nutcracker show needs to held at another place where there is more leg space

  • Wonderful Performance

This Nutcracker performance was absolutely magical and terrific! I attended with my daughter and 6 year old grandson and we all enjoyed it so much. Would absolutely plan to attend next year if this is coming to town.

  • Good and bad

by Chrisp on 12/25/24Arizona Financial Theatre - PhoenixRating: 4 out of 5

Some parts seemed out of order which made the story hard to follow, especially for those who have never seen a Nutcracker ballet. We could see performers off stage dancing near the curtains which was an unprofessional distraction. We weren’t certain we saw a Sugar Plum Fairy. The Nutcracker portion was strange compared to to her ballets we have seen, but this might be a Russian Ballet difference. The man that performed on a large ring and the dancers who performed gymnastics were phenomenal. Maria was wonderful also. The children were adorable, but I had mixed feelings about them flooding the stage during the Snow segment. Overall, we had a wonderful time. The crowd was disappointing, as I feel the performers deserved much more applause then they received. Also- the performers and directors should be given roses at the end of the performance.

  • Christmas Magic

    by APP80 on 12/25/24Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The performance was magical. The group did a wonderful job. The matinee time was great or so I thought. It was high jacked with unruly children whose parents didn’t respect anyone enough to take them out. There was one child who had a full meltdown during the cannon scene. It was not only disrespectful to the performers but also the audience. First time I’ve ever been disappointed at a performance at the TN Theatre

  • Great but Annoyed

    by Professor M on 12/24/24Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and our experience at The Tennessee Theater. Unfortunately, I paid the extra money to let my daughter get her picture taken with a ballerina and even though I was told it would be uploaded the next day, it still has not been uploaded. I reached out to the Nutcracker company several days ago and have received no response from them and almost a week later there still is no picture. I am extremely annoyed and feel like I paid for something I will never receive. Needless to say, I will not be ever spending extra money like this again.

  • Beautiful

by Emmy on 12/24/24Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful ballet. Theater needs to do a better job of making people put phones away. 3 people had their phones out recording the whole first act. Told the ushers and they got one. I wish I could've enjoyed it more.

  • Just Wonderful

by Crystal on 12/24/24Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve seen the Nutcracker ballet several times over the years and this one was a wonderful edition. Elena Pecheniuk was just stunning to watch. She and the other dancers have incredible technique and really brought the Nutcracker ballet to life. I’m so glad I bought tickets to this performance.
