About

Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! is NPR's Peabody Award-winning comedy news quiz show. Host Peter Sagal leads a rotating panel of comedians, writers, listener contestants, and celebrity guests through a rollicking review of the week's news.  Contestants vie for the most coveted prize in all of public radio: a custom-recorded greeting by any of our cast members for their voicemail.

Every week, Wait, Wait.... Don't Tell Me! records in front of a live audience, then carefully edits out all the raunchy, inappropriate, shocking, and hilarious stuff so we can broadcast something that doesn't get NPR in trouble... well, more trouble. The only way you can find out what our panelists and guests really think about the news is to come see for yourself. And please--don't tell NPR. Also, we're all much more attractive than we sound.

  • Great show; terrible sound

by Jo Es on 9/2/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

I love NPR’s “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me,” and am a devoted listener to the radio show. The host is clever, the spontaneous humor is hilarious. Seeing the show live at the Orpheum, however, was very disappointing. The sound quality was so poor that I feel I missed about 1/3 of the dialogue and banter. I was in the second row of the balcony, which are usually great seats, but the bad mics and the acoustics made it very hard to relax and enjoy the show.

  • Pure entertainment

by DC on 9/2/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Great show. Peter Sagal and the rest of the Wait Wait cast now how to make the news funny. They’re a delightful group to watch for two hours, and I would recommend anyone to check out this show live if they have the opportunity.

  • P.S. & Team were on point!

Excellent show, very good energy, the entire cast was in sync and very funny, great night!

  • Incredible, funny and informative

by JD on 9/2/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me is a great theater experience for anyone who listens to the weekly show on NPR. It’s funny, engaging and entertaining. It’s also fun to see the radio show performed on stage giving you an inside glimpse into the magic of radio.

  • Great show, could be better sound

by Coco on 9/1/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

The show and all the participants were great. My wife and I loved it and would go again. However, there is a sound problem. At least where we were sitting, which was Row G a little to the right of center (while facing the stage), it was very difficult to understand what the 3 member panel of comedians were saying. It may be that people sitting to the left of us, which was the direction the panel were facing, could hear them better, but we missed at least half the funny comments. Did not have a problem hearing what the Peter and Don were saying.

  • Wait Wait always Delights Delights

by LL on 9/1/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I have had the pleasure of attending 8-10 live Wait Wait tapings over the decades and am delighted each time. This was no exception. Bobcat’s duck stories will remain with me forever. Joyelle and Josh were on point and hilarious. Peter and Bill are consummate hosts. And Nate Berkus was a treat. My only critiques are of the beautiful but dated venue: not enough women’s restroom stalls at the Orpheum.

  • Amazing to watch live

by Joe on 9/1/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan of WWDTM for many years, but getting this chance to see it live made me realize just how much doesn't make the final edition. I can't wait to watch it live again.

  • So fun!

by Jo on 9/1/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

So fun to hear ALL the jokes arising from the synergy of the moment and the dynamic flow of the evening. I will attend again when Wait Wait comes back to Mpls!!

  • wonderful show!

by hp on 9/1/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

So much fun to spend 3 hours seeing, listening, reacting to how a 1 hour MPR news quiz show is made. The time flew. The Orpheum is amazing in its artistry. The special guest, panel, Peter and of course Bill exceeded my expectations and I have been listening for over 20 years! Bless y'all. PS, my 6'3"son needed more leg room, but as a 5'3"mom, I was comfortable!

  • Show was great - venue not so much

by JMack on 9/1/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

For whatever reason, the process of entering the Orpheum Theater was a mess. The lines outside went around the block for presold, assigned seat ticket holders. A staff person took part of the line to another entrance a half block away and up thru a parking garage! We and many others were late getting in to a darken theater with no hand rails going up balcony stairs. It was a disaster! The show was good but it was hard to relax after having such a stressful experience to start the evening.

Loved to see the show that we listen to every week

  • Such a great evening!

by WWDTM fan on 7/2/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I had a fantastic evening! We picnicked at the Mann center before the show and then spent the rest of the evening laughing while we saw WWDTM live. It was fascinating to see how the show is done. Not everything in the live show is kept for the radio broadcast. Bloopers were either immediately fixed or redone at the end of the show. Also, the show occurred a couple of hours before the 2024 debate and it was great to see how they did a jokes on the debate BEFORE the debate occurred and then took some early real-time occurrences and weaved them into the show later on. The 3 comedians were hilarious and between them, Peter Sagal, Bill Kurtis, and the live audience, it made for much needed comedic relief in a time where there is not much to laugh at in the world. We'd highly recommend seeing the show live!

  • Always funny - did not disappoint!!!

We had a great night in a great venue with a great panel and a super great host! Tons of fun!

  • What a great show

by Deb on 6/30/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was, as always, spot on. Our seats were great and there was a slight breeze. The show was fantastic. My only issue was security check in. The man in front of us was older and struggling. The people behind him were in a great hurry and barreled through. Security should have done a better job and had bowls for everyone’s belongings and took one at a time. It was chaos

  • A great experience!

by Russ H. on 6/30/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

The NPR News Quiz is a great show that we listen to on the radio. But to see the recording of the program is truly an epic experience. I would love to see this program every week if I could.

  • We’ve Found Our Tribe!

by Rod & Carolyn on 6/30/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

This was the 2nd time we’ve been here, and have always enjoyed ourselves. Excellent seats, great crowd, beautiful summer night, absolutely no complaints. Looking forward to the next time WWDTM comes to the Mann.

  • What fun!

by Nora on 6/30/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

The taping of NPR's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me"was so much fun! For anyone who thinks it's just some nerdy public radio gig, you're so wrong. It's really more like multiple stand-up comedy shows. The whole crew was briliant and I can't wait 'til they come back to Philly!

  • Funny but audio was not great

by Dukern on 6/30/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

We are fans of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and were looking forward to the show. We had a good time, but 2 of the panelists were virtually impossible to understand. I am not sure if this was due to the speaker's style or the audio system. However, it made the show less enjoyable and frustrating at times.

  • So funny

by Maria V on 6/30/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

So great to see this show live and in person, this one was especially funny
