About

Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! is NPR's Peabody Award-winning comedy news quiz show. Host Peter Sagal leads a rotating panel of comedians, writers, listener contestants, and celebrity guests through a rollicking review of the week's news.  Contestants vie for the most coveted prize in all of public radio: a custom-recorded greeting by any of our cast members for their voicemail.

Every week, Wait, Wait.... Don't Tell Me! records in front of a live audience, then carefully edits out all the raunchy, inappropriate, shocking, and hilarious stuff so we can broadcast something that doesn't get NPR in trouble... well, more trouble. The only way you can find out what our panelists and guests really think about the news is to come see for yourself. And please--don't tell NPR. Also, we're all much more attractive than we sound.

  • As good as I’d hope it would be!

by Lindsley on 4/21/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me was a bucket-list item and I’m so glad I splurged and got a ticket close to the stage. I laughed and laughed for over two hours. If I lived close to Chicago I’d get tickets as often as I could! I do hope WWDTM comes back to DPAC sooner than 10 years again!

  • Great show; So so DPAC seating

by Blipperman on 4/20/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 3 out of 5

I very much enjoyed watching the Wait Wait folk doing their humor. The seating at DPAC was very cramped and not something I will likely volunteer sitting through again.

  • Great show hard to hear all of the people

by Jackee on 4/20/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 4 out of 5

Good sight lines from section C Most speakers dropped the sound or slurred their word at the end of a sentence. ( The three guests) Not the hosts

  • So fun!

Such a great experience from beginning to end. It was easy getting in and out of the venue, and the show was (of cpurse) fantastic!

  • A great evening

by DrKaren on 4/20/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

We listen regularly to the radio show, but during this taping the team was off the rails. Hilarious while incredibly on point about current events. Having Louis Black as the guest was just the icing on the cake.

  • Wait Wait Don’t tell me

by Paul on 4/20/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

We really enjoyed the show. The price at DPAC was great. Peter Sagan is hilarious. He is so fast at coming up with responses!.

  • Don't WAIT, go see the show!

by Big Fan on 4/20/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

We got to see Wait Wait once in Chicago, but Peter was out that day, so it was a little different. This traveling show in Durham was the full package with Peter, Bill, three great panel members and an interesting guest. What's really fun about attending a taping of Wait Wait, though, is being able to see the behind-the-scenes stuff. It really makes listening that next weekend extra fun and gives you a better insight into all the shows. If you're a fan, it is very much worth going to a taping!

by Steve on 11/18/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, as always! Watching it in-person is even better than hearing it on NPR. Don't hesitate to get a ticket. Our show was sold out!

by Deb on 11/17/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

It's always been on my bucket list to attend a live taping of the show. Having Governor Whitmer there as the special guest was awesome. She was received with thunderous applause.

  • Very entertaining!

by DooDad on 11/17/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

When we travel, we always listen to past podcasts and have been entertained. It was fun to experience it in person and enjoyed the repartee and quick wit between Peter Sagal and the three guest panelists. It was a surprise to have our Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer participate in person as well. It was a very enjoyable experience!

  • Engaging and entertaining!

by Sunnyjoe on 11/17/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

We didn't exactly know what to expect (even being familar with the show). This behind the scene looks was a lot of fun. Lot's of humor and energy. The special guest was an absolute delight. We are very pleased to have attended.

  • Fabulous Show

by Bedtime Reader on 11/17/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

We were so lucky to have seen this show live. We listen to it every week so it was great to see all of the players in person. The Fox Theatre is so beautiful!

  • Great Show, Great Venue!

by Dave Levi on 11/17/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

That was a lot of fun to watch how a show I listen to regularly is produced. It's so nice that they take the show on the road so that fans around the country get to experience what Chicago every week. Also, the fully restored to complete grandeur of a century ago, the Fox Theatre was absolutely stunning. And then to have Governor Gretchen Whitmer live and in person made it, well, the cat's meow!

  • A fun time! Nice to see behind the scenes of radio!

by Jayceel on 11/17/24Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

The show was fun, lots of audience participation. The show comes across as perfect when on the radio, but being a part of the audience you realize we all make mistakes and with the magic of editing they can be corrected! The only down side was entering the Fox...security was slow which resulted in being seated after the show started. Waited outside for over 10 minutes.

  • Good, but hard to hear guests

by Happy Mama on 9/2/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

The live show was good, fun, but sometimes hard to hear guests in Row BB! I am excited to hear parts of “our” show in the future:)
