About

Magic City Hippies have carved out a distinct place in the indie landscape, blending Miamis sun-soaked swagger with infectious funk, psych-pop, and danceable grooves. What began as the Robby Hunter Band evolved in 2015 with the release of Magic CityHippies, the album that gave the trio its name and solidified a sound both laid-back and relentlessly kinetic.Since then, the band has built a reputation for genre-fluid songwriting and high-energy performances, earning spots at major festivals including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and Lollapalooza.Though their recordings have drawn both critical and fan acclaim, Magic City Hippies are best known for their live shows: sweaty, exuberant, and effortlessly engaging. Their ability to convert casual listeners into loyal fans is no accident, its the result of years ofrelentless touring, musical chemistry, and an unapologetic commitment to making every show feel like a celebration.

  • AMAZING!

by Joanna on 9/12/23Tannahill's Tavern and Music Hall - Fort WorthRating: 5 out of 5

Magic City Hippies were amazing!!! This was actually my 2nd time seeing them this year! They're incredible and so groovy! I even took my kids to this show (10 & 7 years old) It was sooo much fun and they put on an awesome show! We were also able to meet the band members and get photos and autographs from them after the show! They were all so nice and so sweet and gave my kids their undivided attention and actually had conversations with him! I can't wait until their next show! I would defenitly see them for a 3rd time!

  • Great Band!

by Rock And Roll Detective on 9/3/23Rating: 5 out of 5

The Majestic is a great venue to see a band up close. The MCH are amazing. Very uplifting band. They can rock hard and they can chill you out. Plus they pay homage to The Beatles with a cool segway into I Want You (She's So Heavy). This group appeals to everyone from Millennials to Boomers. And they are great guys too!

  • Fantastic

by Vyctoria on 8/28/23Rating: 5 out of 5

This was my third time seeing MCH and I swear they get better and better every time. I really loved the venue (Portland House of Music) because it was small and intimate so there was not a bad place to be in the place. I also love that the band is so casual too - they were happy to chat and take pictures after the show, they were so personable! Can’t wait for show #4!

  • Lively, Intimate, Impressive Performance

    by Ben M. on 8/28/23Rating: 5 out of 5

These guys are awesome. Small venues are so much better especially when the performers are having fun. I barely saw any phones too, just people dancing and engaging with the guys on (and off) stage.

  • Out of this WORLD

by allison on 3/6/23The Echo Lounge & Music Hall - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

These guys are awesome. The entire crowd gave back as much positive energy that the band was giving. Robby Hunter can draw a crowd in and keep them there. Music was amazing!!

  • Great band, convenient venue!

by Eddie on 2/27/23The Observatory North Park - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Magic City Hippies is always a great time, I love that I got a chance to catch my favorite band. The venue was clean and parking was complimentary for this show! The acoustics felt a little hollow, but The Observatory is a big square box of a venue, so everyone put on the best show they could and it still sounded great, still 5 stars

  • Awesome live show

by Tim on 2/10/23Blueberry Hill Duck Room - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

These guys put on an amazing live show. We have been to see them 5-6 times now and they keep getting better and better.

  • The Best Concert I've Ever Been To

by Tim on 2/2/23House of Blues Cleveland - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to hundreds of concerts, and this way by far the best I've ever seen. I've followed MCH for years and had no idea they would sound that great live. Incredible performance and I can't wait to see them again.

  • solid performance, disappointing space

by Rich on 1/27/23House of Blues Cleveland - ClevelandRating: 4 out of 5

the Cambridge Room at HoB has a poor layout and flow. you enter at the side, the bar is at the back, and the bathrooms are on the other side. it's annoying to forge a pathway through the crowd to get to the bathroom. the opener was weird, not my kind of music. the sounds was pretty solid and the headliner was great. but I will not return to any show at the Cambridge Room unless I'm dying to see a favorite artist.

  • Fantastic show

by Jimmy on 1/24/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

These dudes put on a show! Not only that, but the crowd was actually into the show and NOT on their phones the whole time cause they were vining! Love the dancy vibes and will def see these guys again.

  • Danced my kneecaps off

by Jess on 1/24/23Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a big fan since 2018. This was my 3rd MCH show. I actually convinced 5 people who’ve never listened to go. We danced like crazy. They all had so much fun. I had to ice my knees the next day bc I went so hard. I love these dudes. I can’t wait for the next show.

  • MCH were better than ever! Had a total blast!

by Michael on 1/23/23Bowery Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a long time fan of the MCH and have previously seen them play in much smaller venues, so I was curious to see what the experience would be like at Bowery Ballroom. It's cool to see how far they have come in the last decade and man did they rock it! I was blown away by how much they have stepped up the production value of their set and I got utterly lost in dancing my pants off. I was also pleasantly surprised by and truly enjoyed both of the opening band. Fully enjoyed my evening and already can't wait to see them again in the future!

  • Really great show

by Ben M. on 1/23/23Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The neon lights on the floral backdrop was really cool. The venue is a great size. Just enough to always feel like you’re not too far from the stage. It got a bit packed, but we should’ve arrived a bit earlier. The artists had great stage presence, knew how to coordinate with one another, and the music was always great to dance to. If MCH comes back around I’ll plan on seeing them again. Also the line moved very quickly, the bathrooms didn’t have a wait, and all the staff I interacted with were cool.

  • Absolutely fantastic.

by John on 1/23/23Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

MCH is a real crowd pleaser. They are a melody rich group of musicians that bring the crowd to their feet with smiles and cheers. My 5th time seeing MCH and they keep on getting better.

  • Pretty good

by Luke on 1/23/23Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

CAPYAC was a bit when live... odd (who would have thought to have a dedicated interpretive dance person in a 3 person band?) But magic city hippies did a great job and I thoroughly enjoyed their performance.

  • Great band…bass too loud

    by Michael A. on 1/20/239:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Love this band… have seen them 6 times in last few years. Only issue I had with the show/venue was they the bass was way over modulated. It made the sound quality really poor. This is a tight band and the sound hurt this show and it wasn’t their best. Still love em! Just wish it sounded better!

  • LOVE the hippies

    by M. Love on 1/18/239:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This is the second time I've seen the Magic City Hippies in concert and they BRING THE PARTY! The first time I saw them, I went in blind with some friends. Never heard a single note to surprise myself and I was blown away by their sound, their musicality and performance quality, weaving in other songs and having fun with their own music. I became a huge fan in the matter of seconds. This second time seeing them at the 9:30 club was a more crowded experience as their popularity is growing. Fun crowd and amazing performance. My friends and I were dancing our faces off. The lights, sound, stage set up/design, ROCKED. I'll be buying tickets to their shows for years to come.

  • Best concert ever!

by Lauren on 8/24/22The Southern Cafe & Music Hall - CharlottesvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This is my second Magic City Hippies concert and they never disappoint! They always bring high energy..the same kind of energy as a summer vacation. All the members of the band are individually talented and appear to have fun performing together. The audiences are loyal and engaging.

  • Great music, late show

    by She_jetts on 2/23/22The Belasco - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Only down side was that they did t start their set till 1030

  • Great Show! Cool Venue w/Caveat

by Danny Boy on 2/23/22The Observatory North Park - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

MCH definitely delivered a great performance! High energy, fun with some powerful crescendos and cool crowd involvement. I didn't know much about them but their show and music earned a fan in me, for sure! The venue was great too; good ambiance and a cool setup, easy drink access, just OK sound. They lose a star for their "health requirements," though, which are entirely unnecessary and uninformed in 2022; these caused a delay in entry and us to miss some of the show. In fairness, the requirements were communicated at time of ticket purchase, but we probably won't go back to this venue until they lift them.
