Really enjoyed the concert and enjoyed Los Lobos. I would have enjoyed just hearing Los Lobo's without the other members from the opening band.
No complaints about the concert itself. The combination of Los Lobos plus Kansas City's own Making Movies was perfect. (Los Lobos has mentored Making Movies over the years, and Lobos sax man Steve Berlin has produced recordings for the band,) It was great to see and hear them join forces to end the evening. My first time seeing Los Lobos perform was 20-plus years ago in the same venue, back when it was called Station Casino. The concert was great, but casinos are the most godforsaken places on Earth. The people who were there to gamble all looked dead inside. Fast-forward to 2024, and while the casino has changed ownership and has been renovated, it's still a depressing place to hear live music. The worst part is that in Missouri, smoking is permitted indoors in casinos, so my throat was itchy the whole time and I had a few coughing fits. While waiting for my Lyft home, “If I Had a Million Dollars” by Barenaked Ladies was playing on the P.A. I chuckled at the irony. I hope no musician I like ever books another show in Ameristar or any other local casino. I don't wish to repeat the experience.
What another incredible experience!! We love Los Lobos so much. The members of Los Lobos are so generous with their audience. They invite you to sing, dance and sway throughout each and every song. I love the warmth they show each other and their fans. This particular show was also a wonderful example of how they treat other musicians, as the young musicians from Making Movies joined their last set. Both bands were exciting and the songs were beautiful and soulful. Thanks for a great evening.
Los Lobos is putting on a great show on their 50th anniversary tour. Great setlist. Only issue was the bass drum and guitar were overwhelming. Vocals and sax were difficult to hear. Could have been the venue.
Los Lobos put on a show that showcased the brilliance of their 50 year journey. Their songs of love, peace, perseverance, sorrow and joy capture the American experience, not only from a Mexican American perspective but one anyone can appreciate and understand. There are very few bands that can dip into rock, blues, R&B, swing, Tex Mex, so fluently. This is what make them true Ambassadors of American Music. Every member of the band contributes to a sound that is unique and continues to evolve. I have been a fan from the first time hearing them (about 1982) and own every album they have put out. This tour is a celebration. All I can say is “thank you” for being part of the soundtrack of my life. Peace Ese!
While Los Lobos are a terrific mariachi , then poor sound quality at Hollywood casino was so bad that I had to leave. the only way that I can describe it is musical chaos. i have attended shows at this venue before and this is the worst.
Los Lobos were great as ever. But the venue has someone running the board that felt the need to try and prove they had big big truly big subs. Just about enough to blur your vision. This is not a Rap band or Trance music. You couldn't make out the vocals or even the guitars all that well. Really punishingly loud kick drum and bass guitar. There is no excuse for it.
This is the fourth time I have seen Los Lobos. They get better each time. Show was fantastic. First time I had been to Event Center at Charles Town. I liked the venue very much.
Great band. Good tunes. Sound tech needs to move around the room. Kick and bass overpowered the rest of the mix the entire show.
Always incredible, I hope I see them again real soon
