I had the pleasure of seeing ConFunkShun at Sam's Casino on 12/31/24 in Las Vegas, NV. They were AMAZING! Their live music and energy level kept everyone dancing! I was disappointed that the venue was only half full but that did not deter the band from giving a top notch show. It is my hope that ConFunkShun will return to Vegas to grace us once again with their wonderful presence and music. ConFunkShun-ize!
Both Con Funk Shun and The Dazz Bands did an amazing job! They had the crowd dancing in their seats and in the isles. EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE and we will see them again!!! Everyone seemed to have a great time. As for the sound system/engineering. We sat 3rd row center (almost) and couldn’t even hear the lead singer. We continually motioned that we couldn’t hear the singer, however, the lead guitar was overpowering everything during the Dazz Band set. It took about 20 minutes before someone swapped mics with the lead singer to at least let us hear the song. The venue REALLY need to perform sounds checks and/or hire a more in-tuned engineer to address this issue as this is the second concert at this venue with these same issues. Other than the sound issues we LOVED seeing Con Funk Shun and The Dazz Band!!!
Both bands, Con Funk Shun and The Kingsman Dazz Band, were EXCELLENT! They kept the crowd dancing in their seats and in the isles! One of the best 2.5 hours of entertainment we have been to in a while…AND THEY STARTED ON TIME!!! We will definitely see both bands again and have “Ffun Ffun Ffun!” Read on for review on the Venue. Now, I’m not sure if this is the avenue for critiquing the sound engineering at the venue, Sam’s Town Casino, but it sucked! For the first 25 minutes the crowd was signaling that we couldn’t hear the main singer, as if the mic was not on. Also, the background instruments overpowered the vocals, especially the lead guitar during the entire Dazz Band set. This is the second concert at this venue we have attended (The Manhattans was the other) and both times sound engineering was an issue.
I was surprised at the low attendance to this concert, but it was poorly advertised! The band was great! The place should have been sold out! With so many empty seats they should have opened it up to Fillaseat to let others come out and at least spend some money at the venue! The band should have been prepared to do a couple of Encore songs!
ConFunkShun sounded great on New Year’s Eve at Sam’s Town. Together 56 years, and they still sound as good as their records. The brass can blow!!
Bringing in the New Year with an excellent band and music, Dazz band was great also. Old music is good for the soul!!!Thank you!
Con Funk Shun is still the bizness! Sound great with those instantly recognizable voices! Look great... What showmen! Real deal musicians! Horns sound like a full marching band i tell ya! Just wow!!! 🫡🤗👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The show overall was good despite the technical difficulties with the sound. The opening act was Evelyn Champagne King. She was alone and very energetic with no backup singers or dancers. She nailed it at 64 and after falling, as she stated. She also plays the bongos very well. Evelyn did not disappoint. Her set was 35 minutes The second act Atlantic Starr experienced difficulties with the sound and mics. They tried to keep working through but the audience wasn't having it. You could not hear them, Atlantic Starr was visibly upset but continued to do their best as professionals. However, once they got the sound and mics under control they were awesome but clearly, the issue affected them. Their set was about 45 minutes ConFunkShun the headliner was awesome and shut the show down. They moved like they were young and not over 60. Although they had a few sound issues overall they were tuned into the audience kept everyone on their feet, and made us forget about the past difficulties. The show ended at about midnight. In good faith, the organizer of the show should have offered some type of refund or something for the lack of professionalism of the staff and the long waits between each group.
Con Funk Shun is still amazing. I would loved to have heard more of their slow jams. But they were still awesome!!! Please stop performing at FOX Theater. They are NEVER ready to go on time. We waited outside in 90 degree weather well after 7 p.m. Our tickets said 7 p.m. concert time. The crowd was 60 plus years old and the heat was causing many people to become ill as they waited and waited to be let inside. In addition, they are not equipped for indoor concerts. They do not understand "inside voice"and they have the sound system turned up as if we are 100,000 people outdoors. The venue only holds 2000. It makes the concerts almost unbearable.
