Saw the girls last night at the Lisa Lisa 40th anniversary tour here in Vegas and they were incredible. I wasn't born in the 80s or grew up in it but this made me feel like I was living in that time it was so cool. This was a birthday and Valentine's gift to my mom and we loved it.
This Mary Jane Girls group is with 3 women and only 1 of them is the original bandmember--and it's NOT the lead singer :-/ The bio here doesn't mention that there are multiple Mary Jane Girls groups now--this one is the least relevant. The original lead singer, Jojo, carries the distinct sound of all the original MJG tracks--she performs solo today. The 2nd group consists of Cheri & Maxi along with 2 other women--those two sound great doing their backup singing but the lead they chose for their version of the group can't carry a tune. The third group, which is this one lead by Val, is with Candy and 1 other woman--Val just lacks that voice. Out of all these unfortunate choices, I'd rather see Jojo performing with the track playing in the background... more worth my money than these other acts. Her voice is distinct and the music is the same. I wish they'd all get it together and get the original bandmates back together.
