About

Lake Street Dive have pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound--a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more--the five-piece's all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd. In the making of their GRAMMY-nominated album Good Together, vocalist Rachael Price, bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison reinforced the deep sense of purpose behind their output, often turning their attention to the many factors driving us apart today (e.g., unchecked technological growth, culturally imposed isolation, the cult of relentless self-optimization). Born from a mindset they refer to as "joyful rebellion," Good Together arrives as a body of work both gloriously defiant and primed to inspire unbridled dancing and ecstatic singing-along.

The follow-up to 2021's Obviously, Good Together finds Lake Street Dive working again with Grammy-winning producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr.). With its sonic landscape encompassing everything from R&B to funk to Brazilian pop, the album opens on its title track: a left-of-center love song celebrating the thrill of defying expectation and following your heart's desire. Next, on "Dance with a Stranger," Lake Street Dive once again prove their undeniable gift for crafting feel-good songs with an illuminating message, simultaneously inducing a carefree euphoria and gently fostering empathy. The wildly cathartic "Walking Uphill" presents gripping meditation on the work of self-repair, while "Seats at the Bar" puts a sweetly playful twist on the classic love song. And on "Twenty-Five," Price shares a stark and lovely ballad steeped in tender reminiscence of a long-ago romance. All throughout Good Together, Lake Street Dive tap into the palpable camaraderie that's fueled the band since their formation, ultimately delivering their most collaborative, expansive, and powerfully exuberant work to date.

  • Great venue, but expensive amenities

by CM on 9/26/24Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

The show was great and the venue was clean, accessible, and easy to get to. The only struggle was the high prices for food and drinks inside the venue. Folks should seriously consider bringing their own food within the venue guidelines.

  • Amazing show

by Billy Hoyle on 9/26/24GLC Live at 20 Monroe - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

We got there early and were able to get right up to the front and were not disappointed. The opener was a pleasant surprise and Lake Street Dive was amazing in person. They have such great range and dynamism...a top concert experience for sure at the perfect venue.

  • Excellent show!

One of thee best bands around! Her voice and the musicians were beyond amazing. Horn section, phenomenal. So much great music and talent. I heard the songs I wanted to and we even got a bonus song in the Philly encore, which was unexpected!

  • Great venue, Evil soundman

by Rich from Philly on 9/18/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

At first I thought the bassist was obliterating every other sound, then I realized it was the kick drum. OMG! It was a physical assault - like getting punched in the chest and throat on the one and three - and it got worse. The guitar and bassist shouldn't have shown up because their sound was obliterated by the kick. It gave me a headache and made my wife nauseous. We left after about 35 minutes.

  • PHENOMENAL!!!

by AJBass on 9/18/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan of Lake Street Dive since I first heard them on the radio in 2014! This was mine, and my wife's, first time seeing them live. They are ALL super talented musicians, and good-hearted people! I absolutely love them!! You just can't sit still to their music! Some concerts are just enjoyable, but Lake Street Dive takes it to a whole other level! I can't say enough great things about them! Rachael Price's voice is HUGE, with such amazing, precise control! Bassist, Bridget Kearney playing is phenomenal! The drummer, Mike Calabrese is also phenomenal, as is the keyboardist, Akie Bermiss...I mean, the entire band was COOKIN'!! I also loved that they had trumpeter Jon Lampley & part of the Huntertones Horns with them!! Jon, as well as the percussionist, Negah Santos, are both regulars in the Late Night with Stephen Colbert band! They are both amazing!! SO much talent was on that stage at The Mann Center!! This was a fantastic Anniversary gift to my wife and myself, and it was definitely one of the most fun and entertaining concerts I've ever been to! Go see them and enjoy!!! I Promise you will be smiling from ear-to-ear all night long!

  • Lake Street Dive was great

by RoyEdK on 9/18/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert. they had some extras for the concert ... horns and drums. I was not impressed with the opening act "Infinity Song"though.

  • A wonderful evening of music

by As advertised on 9/18/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

The outstanding musicianship of the band and musical guest Jon Lampley along with the tight, crisp vocals engaged the audience in an evening of delightful songs

  • Great Sounding Band

by Drew on 9/18/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Lake Street is a challenging live experience because so many things have to go right. You have to hear the rhythm section. You must hear the horns and sax. And you must hear Rachel's voice. Clearly. And all at once. Somehow the sound at The Mann did all of that and then some to make this a wonderful concert experience. This band has just grown tighter and more proficient over the years. So glad we had the chance to see them.

  • Lake Street Dive was great fun and a must see band

by Pat on 9/18/24TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

LSD 😎 was great. They were fun and seemed to be having a great time on stage. The audience definitely loved them. My wife in particular because she often complains about extensive solos in the middle of songs. They played the songs very well without extended solos. Rachel Price has an utterly fantastic voice. The only reason I gave this less than a 5 was the opening act. Not the best!

  • Loved the show, LSD was in top form

by gjrdrummer on 9/18/24Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Lake Street Dive was in top form, energetic, playful, and always with great musicianship. Rachel even went into the audience to "Dance With A Stranger". I love the way they make changes to the arrangements and really mix things up. My favorite part is always when they all gather around one mic and do some unplugged numbers. You really get to experience their amazing vocal harmonies. Wish they'd done a few more that way. Added bonus, the stage set up was great and provided a lot of different looks. My one beef is with the lighting designer, seems to be the same one for years, who insists on randomly blinding people by flashing lights into the audience. Light the stage, not the crowd. Opening band Infinity Song was so-so. They opened with a Fleetwood Mac cover that, while a little long, was pretty good. Their originals didn't seem to stand out, but in all fairness, the biggest issue was the terrible sound mix. The band is centered around four vocalists and harmony singing, yet that was mostly lost. The bass and bass drum overwhelmed the sound. Unforgivable in this day and age.

The venue was fantastic. The band was soooo good! The vocals - amazing. The horn section - unbelievable! A great moment was when the core band got in a small group for a few songs. You could picture them in a dive bar playing for friends and family!
