About

Lake Street Dive have pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound--a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more--the five-piece's all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd. In the making of their GRAMMY-nominated album Good Together, vocalist Rachael Price, bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison reinforced the deep sense of purpose behind their output, often turning their attention to the many factors driving us apart today (e.g., unchecked technological growth, culturally imposed isolation, the cult of relentless self-optimization). Born from a mindset they refer to as "joyful rebellion," Good Together arrives as a body of work both gloriously defiant and primed to inspire unbridled dancing and ecstatic singing-along.

The follow-up to 2021's Obviously, Good Together finds Lake Street Dive working again with Grammy-winning producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr.). With its sonic landscape encompassing everything from R&B to funk to Brazilian pop, the album opens on its title track: a left-of-center love song celebrating the thrill of defying expectation and following your heart's desire. Next, on "Dance with a Stranger," Lake Street Dive once again prove their undeniable gift for crafting feel-good songs with an illuminating message, simultaneously inducing a carefree euphoria and gently fostering empathy. The wildly cathartic "Walking Uphill" presents gripping meditation on the work of self-repair, while "Seats at the Bar" puts a sweetly playful twist on the classic love song. And on "Twenty-Five," Price shares a stark and lovely ballad steeped in tender reminiscence of a long-ago romance. All throughout Good Together, Lake Street Dive tap into the palpable camaraderie that's fueled the band since their formation, ultimately delivering their most collaborative, expansive, and powerfully exuberant work to date.

Rolling Stone called Lake Street Dive the year's best band and they were right. Their live show is great and I recommend anyone on the fence about it to go see them! Each member of the band shows off their ultimate talent on their instrument. They keep the audience engaged, entertained and made the entire show fun. Great band, great show!

Amazing concert. One of the best live shows I've ever attended. Incredible talent and energy. Definitely check out Lake Street Dive if they ever play near you.

  • Class act, pathetic openers

by Rnrcnnvrdy on 4/8/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Lake Street Dive know their chops. First class musicians going all out. Ages and Ages juvenile, absolutely horrible.

  • LSD was on their game

by classicaltrombone on 4/5/14Bowery Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Great. Everything was great. They're always solid live and this was no exception. The grooves were heavy and the harmonies were tight. Everybody should see them live at least once in their life.

  • Lake Street Dive Captivates

The show was fabulous! You can't take your eyes off of Rachel Price as she belts out the tunes. I would have liked to see the drummer located somewhere else though. On the side you didn't even notice him. Can't wait to see them again!

  • Bowery Ballroom Brilliance!

by CatoandTimbo on 4/3/14Bowery Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

There won't have been many in the audience at the Bowery who'd traveled from England to see Lake Street Dive but we did and it was worth every minute and every mile. Rachael's voice was better than ever - they were clearly having the time of their lives and so were we. Thank you Lake Street for a fabulous gig and truly memorable experience. See you in Birmingham, England. And maybe London .... but why oh why are you not coming to Manchester? We're campaigning to get you on the Dermot O'Leary Show on BBC Radio 2 when you come over. Four cities is not enough!

  • Venue is a Dump/Band OK

    by Titan28 on 2/24/14The Sinclair - CambridgeRating: 2 out of 5

The band, Lake Street Dive, was good enough. Lead singer is focal point of group, and she is wonderful, with terrific stage presence. Place was filled with her fans. Musically the band is good, not great. They are clearly on their way up--but there is a problem. Just about all their original material is weak to bad. Since the lead singer reminds me of Amy Winehouse, to an extent--she is not as good--let me say that Amy succeeded not only because of her voice and stage power, she succeeded because of her songs, many of which she wrote herself. Advice to LSD? Get a song writer.

  • Great show!

by Cheezfan on 2/24/14The Sinclair - CambridgeRating: 5 out of 5

It's always fun to see a band right as everything is coalescing for them-- there was a real electricity in the room. It's clear that these guys have been working incredibly hard-- good to see it paying off. Great venue (Sinclair), super-enthusiastic crowd, really good new CD and some fun covers as well.

Lake Street Dive is an immensely talented group. Coupled with a naturally gregarious persona, it made for an extremely enjoyable experience.

Lake Street Dive put on an amazing show! The lead singer's voice is unbelievable and the band as a whole is fantastic. Lots of energy, great interaction with the crowd. Highly recommend, although not that highly since I like seeing them at smaller venues!
