About

Lake Street Dive have pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound--a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more--the five-piece's all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd. In the making of their GRAMMY-nominated album Good Together, vocalist Rachael Price, bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison reinforced the deep sense of purpose behind their output, often turning their attention to the many factors driving us apart today (e.g., unchecked technological growth, culturally imposed isolation, the cult of relentless self-optimization). Born from a mindset they refer to as "joyful rebellion," Good Together arrives as a body of work both gloriously defiant and primed to inspire unbridled dancing and ecstatic singing-along.

The follow-up to 2021's Obviously, Good Together finds Lake Street Dive working again with Grammy-winning producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr.). With its sonic landscape encompassing everything from R&B to funk to Brazilian pop, the album opens on its title track: a left-of-center love song celebrating the thrill of defying expectation and following your heart's desire. Next, on "Dance with a Stranger," Lake Street Dive once again prove their undeniable gift for crafting feel-good songs with an illuminating message, simultaneously inducing a carefree euphoria and gently fostering empathy. The wildly cathartic "Walking Uphill" presents gripping meditation on the work of self-repair, while "Seats at the Bar" puts a sweetly playful twist on the classic love song. And on "Twenty-Five," Price shares a stark and lovely ballad steeped in tender reminiscence of a long-ago romance. All throughout Good Together, Lake Street Dive tap into the palpable camaraderie that's fueled the band since their formation, ultimately delivering their most collaborative, expansive, and powerfully exuberant work to date.

  • LSD Goes Down Smoothe!

by mhmknox on 11/8/14U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Lake Street Dive gave an awesome performance at the Bijou! The venue was a great place to see them, as there's not a bad seat in the house and the smaller setting gave a more intimate feel to the show. They came out with an awesome intro that started the show off strong and they kept that momentum the entire time! Their music is soulful and bluesy with a twist of rock every now and then. All four members are incredibly talented with beautiful harmonies that only accentuate Rachel's incredible voice. It was a fantastic show and I can't wait to see them again! Big sound, bigger show! Great job guys and gals!!

  • Incredible band!

tight, talented and terrific. Every member of the band is excellent.

  • Lake Street Dive is flawless!!!

by A2thamac on 11/8/14U.S. Cellular Stage at the Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Lake Street Dive perform with amazing musical quality and incredible vocal harmonies. They sounded even better and more in your face live!! Rachel's lead vocals are raw, precise, and flawless. Each musician from standup bass, guitar/trumpet, and drums were incredible at their craft, as well as, wonderful vocalists. What talent with 10 years as a group under their belt! Knoxville if they ever come through again (which I hope they do) you don't want to miss this group. They will take you back to a richer and warmer time, all the while giving you a modern edge. Beautiful music! Beautiful people!

  • Great music, Great venue

by SunshineandSmiles on 11/4/14Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time at the Buckhead Theater. It is a very nice looking place and nice layout. The opening band the Congress was fantastic and Lake Street Dive killed it! The only down side was that the sound didn't sound quite right upfront. Once I went to the back it was much better.

  • Dive into a little Lake Street

by pacificpoet on 11/2/14Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

What fun! Great opening band (though I never caught their name...); fun, congenial rock. Torch singer, to be sure. Good crowd. = Great evening at Buckhead Theatre!

Spectacular. I have no idea what to say about this concert. So far beyond my expectations.

  • Lake Street Drive gives you their soul!

by Anonymous on 11/1/14Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Lake Street Dive is fantastic! They are hard to pigeon-hole. Jazzy-Bluesy-RockandRollish-Soulful....a total package. They warm your heart. As the audience piled out of Buckhead Theatre, I saw only grins and wide smiles. They lift your heart. I got turned on to them a couple of years ago while visiting my college attending son. One of his roommates was the apartment DJ and always filled the place with great sounds. One morning I came into the living room and whipped my head around and exclaimed "Who the fuck is THAT?" "Lake Street Dive" he replied. I made him repeat the name 4 or 5 times so I would not forget it. I have been their fan ever since. I have been fortunate to see them live twice. The first time at the Earl where I managed to be right next to the stage. Last week I was way up in the balcony and was happy still. They got the Colbert Bump a month or two ago. They play like a happy bunch of kids all grateful to be performing for you personally. But they are total pros. The lead singer, Rachael Price, has a voice like Janis Joplin (but cleaner). Bridget Kearney plays upright bass with great flair and harmonizes mightily. The drummer is Mike Calabrese who also provides harmonies as well as solo vocals. Mc Duck adds guitar and trumpet licks to round out the total package. They all treat each other like the stars that they are. The music is clean and sharp while maintaining a certain down-home quality. They play many varied venues and their audiences contain all ages. A universally appealing group. If you are fortunate to get a chance to see them, DO IT!! You will be very glad you did.

by BrooksieDiva on 11/1/14Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Usually I am annoyed with most women singers..I think I get jealous. But this little lady in Lake Street Dive transcends!! And the band is vibrant, vocal and brilliant.. Kudos!!!

  • Lake Street Dive Makes Big Splash at Fillmore

by AsparagasBob on 10/13/14The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

I've been going to the Fillmore since the 1960s, and, to be perfectly honest, I've never seen a better show. Rachael Price has one of the best voices ever recorded, rivaling Bonnie Raitt for tone, Billie Holiday for phrasing and Janis Joplin for sheer horsepower. What came as a surprise was the musicianship of the rest of the band. From the recordings and Youtube videos I had come to think of them as Rachael Price's backup band. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Bridget Kearney's bass playing went from subtle to thunderous at a moment's notice. Drummer Mike Calabrese held everything together with ease while providing a fine vocal in one song. And Mike Olson, while mostly playing guitar, really ripped it up on trumpet.

  • Lake Street Dive is the BEST!

by LakeStreetDiveLongTimeFan on 10/13/14The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

LSD puts on the most enjoyable shows. It has been a true joy seeing them play whenever they've made it to California. Hopefully they'll be back again soon.

Great show. Lake Street Dive are great performers.

  • Not their fault

by potsdam on 10/10/14The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 2 out of 5

First time seeing them live. Have seen youtube vids and loved them. Might have been a great show except for the sound mixing. The bass kick-drum was miked SO LOUD that it overwhelmed all the other instruments and Rachael gorgeous voice. I would have loved to have Bridget's standup bass lines be heard. I could see her fingers moving, but could barely hear the instrument. I would like to see this group again, perhaps in a more intimate environment...or at least with a sound man who knows how to mix.

  • Lake Street Dive Raised the roof at The Fillmore

  • Lake Street Dive rocked the Danforth

by DrSue055 on 9/2/14The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Danforth Music Hall was packed for Lake Street Dive who performed dozens of original blues and soul ballads wowedt the audience. Their lead vocalist, great harmonies and rocking upright base delivered a fun show. I'll definitely go back!

  • LSD for the soul!

by honkytone on 8/26/14The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

We rubbed shoulders with greatness at the Wiltern last Saturday night. I've heard Lake Street Dive in person twice now, first at Hotel Cafe in April and now the Wiltern. Rachel Price may be the greatest singer alive. She has everything going on, in just the right amounts. The band is wonderful too, though you get the sense she is greater than the sum of the parts. Regardless, the next time LSD comes to LA it will be at the Greek or the Hollywood Bowl: the momentum is in their favor. As to Dustbowl Revival, I was predisposed not to like them but thought they did a great job. WHO DIDN'T DO A GREAT JOB WAS THE ASSHOLES AT THE MIXING BOARD. To present these acts, playing this kind of music, at big rock volume is an insult to them and us. All dynamics were lost. I'm convinced the mixer(s) were bringing up levels in quieter parts of songs--not that there were many--to make them as loud as the rest. It was a wall of unnecessary and detracting sound. Abominable.

  • Sharp band + wonderful singing, fun night of music

by MTPrince on 8/26/14The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Lake Street Dive is happening! Loved watching and hearing this band. Lead singer has pipes, band has the moves, and I want to take up the upright bass after watching that lady thump on it! Really respectful crowd too.

  • BEST NEW BAND! / Additional security needed.

by Xanna on 8/16/14House of Blues Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Lake Street Dive is absolutely the best new band of 2014. Because they were playing opening sets in Portland and Seattle, we flew from Seattle to see them headline (a full 90 minutes!) in Las Vegas. They were stellar. Completely worth the trip. However, I can't give the event 5 stars because of a major security problem down front with a very intoxicated woman that security completely missed. We finally had to make them aware of it. She was so gone she was falling over and banging into people, so her boyfriend began holding her up. It took at least a couple of songs after notifying security for these people to be removed. The boyfriend was screaming and swearing. It really marred the evening. Considering the very responsible, intense security upon entry--bag checks, metal wands, pat downs--I was very surprised that nobody was paying attention on the other side of the door. I felt bad for the band, who must have been distracted, but continued flawlessly like the pros that they are. It was an unfortunate situation that could have been avoided.

  • They were flippin Awesome

Great show well worth the money. They put on a good show They sound great. A lot of talent in the band so everyone has a moment in the spot light,
