About

Lake Street Dive have pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound--a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more--the five-piece's all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd. In the making of their GRAMMY-nominated album Good Together, vocalist Rachael Price, bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison reinforced the deep sense of purpose behind their output, often turning their attention to the many factors driving us apart today (e.g., unchecked technological growth, culturally imposed isolation, the cult of relentless self-optimization). Born from a mindset they refer to as "joyful rebellion," Good Together arrives as a body of work both gloriously defiant and primed to inspire unbridled dancing and ecstatic singing-along.

The follow-up to 2021's Obviously, Good Together finds Lake Street Dive working again with Grammy-winning producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr.). With its sonic landscape encompassing everything from R&B to funk to Brazilian pop, the album opens on its title track: a left-of-center love song celebrating the thrill of defying expectation and following your heart's desire. Next, on "Dance with a Stranger," Lake Street Dive once again prove their undeniable gift for crafting feel-good songs with an illuminating message, simultaneously inducing a carefree euphoria and gently fostering empathy. The wildly cathartic "Walking Uphill" presents gripping meditation on the work of self-repair, while "Seats at the Bar" puts a sweetly playful twist on the classic love song. And on "Twenty-Five," Price shares a stark and lovely ballad steeped in tender reminiscence of a long-ago romance. All throughout Good Together, Lake Street Dive tap into the palpable camaraderie that's fueled the band since their formation, ultimately delivering their most collaborative, expansive, and powerfully exuberant work to date.

  • Lake Street Dive: something Special

by Juansangre on 11/28/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

State Theater Portalnd Maine Nov. 22. LSD played to a sold out crowd. The sound quality was excellent, the harmonies full and the vibe easy. The onstage chemistry and the quality of music; this group is special. Like a Bonny Raitt meets Van Morrison thing. See them now.

This group has so much talent it fills your soul. I am 75 but tend to have younger friends. On Nov. 22 in Portland, ME I brought 3 friends to hear them for the first time, ages 60 and 2 in their 30's. My friends were amazed and kept asking how did you know about them? They were surprised and delighted that it was not a "Lawrence Welk" type show. They came away with T Shirts and CD's. That is how good they are. You only have to hear them once to become a fan. I hope they get a long and well deserved vacation before the new year begins, and hope they will have Maine on their 2015 schedule ~

So good! What a talented group of people. Soulful, fun, intelligent lyrics. Nothing better in a band! Rachel Price's voice is enchanting and will stay with you.

  • 2nd best show I've seen

    by Jeffc222 on 11/25/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I'm not a concert junkie, but I've seen a fair number (60?) of all different types. I think this one was the 2nd most enjoyable, preceded only by the other Lake Street Dive show I saw in April 2014. Rachel's voice gives me goosebumps (and she's gorgeous). The drummer is fun to watch. The bassist is quirky and real. The guitarist/trumpet is quiet but super talented (watch the NEC vid on YouTube to get an idea of what he's like... Great sense of humor). Their music and lyrics are creative and varied, and SUCH quality. Best of all, I think they're the most genuine and humble group I can remember seeing on stage. I will certainly keep an eye out for their next visit to Portland.

  • Lake Street Dive sounded amazing!

LSD sounded even better live!! The show was awesome, Rachel was great, sexy, entertaining. A must see show!!

  • It doesn't get any better than Lake Street Dive

by BigRobCat on 11/25/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Great live band. Unbelievable musical talent. The venue is just the right size for an intimate but rocking show. Portland is a great town to visit. Good food and too many brew pubs to count.

  • Venue was terrible

    by bosco77 on 11/25/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 2 out of 5

The opening act was Amy Helm. The audio was so loud it was painful. The guitar was unbearable and the vocals were way to loud to understand or enjoy. Lake Street Dive were very good as usual, but again the venue's audio system really detracted from the show

  • Amy Helm and the Handsome Strangers, worth it!

    by Wisewoman50 on 11/25/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Amy Helm was the reason I went to this show and she did not disappoint! She came out on fire!Great set, fantastic band. Wonderful drummer as you would expect from a Helm. She brought me to tears with the Night they Drove ol Dixie Down.

  • Portland love Lake Street Dive

    by nootch23 on 11/25/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I went to the Lake Street Dive show at the State Theatre back in April and was blown away. This time around they were even better! There was more passion, more emotion, more feeling and such a great vibe throughout the entire show that it was difficult not to dance. They were fantastic! There run of shows in Portland should go down as some of their best. I will continue to see them whenever I have the chance!

  • Amy rocks it right into Lake Street Dive!

by aymless on 11/25/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I have never attended an event where no one was in their seat for three hours! Amy Helm was fantastic, rocking out blues and a crazy guitar along with her band. Then came LSD................. Have heard them several times at much smaller venues, and was surprised by their ability to reach such a new level at the State.....they were smoking from the beginning to the end. It was obvious how much they have grown and it was great that they thanked Portland for some of that.

  • Lake Street Dive is a wonderful professional group

The best- Rachel Price is as good as it gets. Wonderful array of sensual and rhythmic songs

  • Lake Street Dive is One To See!

by Anonymous on 11/25/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

What a great show from a very talented group. The songs are fun, soulful, some remakes like "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." This song was s great in the way they made it their own. The lead singer has such a stage presence. Really interacts with the audience and she looks like she is having a great time! The band is talented, great sound. Fun to dance to!

  • Great show, but too loud

by Anonymous on 11/25/14State Theatre - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Lake Street Dive is incredible. Unfortunately, the volume was turned up so high that it actually made it hard to enjoy the full effect of the band. Just dial it down a bit in the theater.

  • Awesome.

Time and time again these guys bring the house down. Great show and they get better every time we see them.

  • Incredibly talented and entertaining!

    by SuperJammaMamma on 11/17/14Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

What a talented group of people! So many bands are just a decent lead singer with a random group of nameless, faceless band members. NOT the case with Lake Street Dive. Each of them is incredibly talented and entertaining to watch/listen to. They draw you into the music. Rachael Price has an incredible voice. A great band, and fantastic concert.

  • Lake Street Dive is great. Terminal 5 is not.

    by LeeJJ on 11/17/14Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Lake Street Dive is a fabulous band and they were great! But the fans at Terminal 5 talked right through the show. Even when the band stopped playing instruments and were only singing, the volume of the crowd was so noticeable it drowned out the band. Lake Street Dive deserves a better venue.

  • LSD great, opener Amy Helm even better

    by Anonymous on 11/17/14Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Especially loved the opener Amy Helm, though the headliner was great as well.

  • Lake Street Dive is a must see!

    by FrantzPants on 11/17/14Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Lake Street Dive a few times now, in both NYC and LA. I absolutely adore them and I can't wait to see them live again! You must see them when they are in a town near you!

  • unforgettably amazing
