Lake Street Dive have pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound--a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more--the five-piece's all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd. In the making of their GRAMMY-nominated album Good Together, vocalist Rachael Price, bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison reinforced the deep sense of purpose behind their output, often turning their attention to the many factors driving us apart today (e.g., unchecked technological growth, culturally imposed isolation, the cult of relentless self-optimization). Born from a mindset they refer to as "joyful rebellion," Good Together arrives as a body of work both gloriously defiant and primed to inspire unbridled dancing and ecstatic singing-along.
The follow-up to 2021's Obviously, Good Together finds Lake Street Dive working again with Grammy-winning producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr.). With its sonic landscape encompassing everything from R&B to funk to Brazilian pop, the album opens on its title track: a left-of-center love song celebrating the thrill of defying expectation and following your heart's desire. Next, on "Dance with a Stranger," Lake Street Dive once again prove their undeniable gift for crafting feel-good songs with an illuminating message, simultaneously inducing a carefree euphoria and gently fostering empathy. The wildly cathartic "Walking Uphill" presents gripping meditation on the work of self-repair, while "Seats at the Bar" puts a sweetly playful twist on the classic love song. And on "Twenty-Five," Price shares a stark and lovely ballad steeped in tender reminiscence of a long-ago romance. All throughout Good Together, Lake Street Dive tap into the palpable camaraderie that's fueled the band since their formation, ultimately delivering their most collaborative, expansive, and powerfully exuberant work to date.

They were excellent - would definitely go see them again the next time they're in town!
I've been following these guys for the past five years and have been dying to see them live. They are every bit as good live as they are on their amazing records. Rachael's voice is absolutely divine and she has a natural energy that is very pleasant. Only criticism I have is that they are a little stiff - Rachael in particular. Dancing on stage was limited to two stepping the entire show. I know they are seasoned (which definitely shows in their demeanor) but I would really love to see them loosen up a little bit. All in all a fabulous evening though!
The Lake Street Dive and The Suffers show at the Fillmore in Philadelphia was excellent. I have seen both acts before and they were better than before. Both acts stage presence has matured since I last seen both acts. The Suffers only played for about 40 minutes but were very good. Only disappointment with them was that they did not perform "Gwan". Lake Street Dive's vocals are just great starting with Rachael Price. Pretty cool when the Suffers horns came out and played on one song LSD and when Cam Franklin and dueted on Bad Self Portraits.
Their debut album was LEGIT! The follow-up is well, meh. The only reason to go was to watch & listen to the voice. And by the voice, I mean Ms Rachael Price. At 30, she may as well be one of rock’s most charismatic front women. Seeing her live is something that is guaranteed to blow one’s mind. Is it fair to say that Ms Price can get cuter every time I see her. Her stage presence as a front wo”man” keeps you moving. The way she grooves to the bands many catchy hooks you can tell that it’s the music that enables her to be completely who she is. The band is tight and you can tell that they genuinely have a good time playing together. The way they feed off one another and help push the music. Each one chasing their muse. Seeing them live is an unreal experience.
I have been wanting to see Lake Street Dive since they were reviewed in Rolling Stone for Bad Self Portraits, and I finally made it. What a bunch of wonderfully, talented musicians. The way that they put together such a mish mash of different genres into their music is so creative and wonderful. Rachael Price is such a great singer, and need I mention, very pleasing to the the eye. But, will I see them again? HELL YEAH!!!
Great concert but FOH mix could have used more high end on the cymbals.
Lake Street Dive might be a new band to a lot of people, but after five full years of playing small clubs and obscure festivals, they are primed for a big breakout with Side Pony. San Francisco was evidently one of the first stops on what will be a year long domestic and international tour to promote the CD. The band was great, polished and really put its new material into the forefront -- saving its most recognizable songs from "Bad Self Portraits" (2014) for the tail end of the nearly two-hour show.... I won't give highlights because there were so many, but Rachael Price as frontwoman singer has terrific jazz and pop chops and gives proper kudos to her songwriting band mates. Go see them! PS: This was a crowd that ranged from 20s to 60s in age. All had fun. The SF Masonic has recently been upgraded and dedicated to concerts, with 2,500 seats and excellent sound. Makes you think of Kennedy Center in DC or Lincoln Center in NYC. A good venue, except drinks at the bars are ridiculously priced. Oh, well.
This is the third time we've seen Lake Street Dive. Can't help matching their contagious enthusiasm & joy in their music. Each time they've gotten progressively more polished, professional, & appreciative of SF audiences. Great show!
Lake Street Duve rocked The Masonic on Saturday. I thought of them as an up-and-coming band ... Well, they have arrived. Rachael Price's voice is rich and soulful, and the band's performance is playful and fun. Watch for superstardom from this band!
What an unforgettable night, The Suffers who were the opening act was an amazing surprise. Lake Street Drive killed it like only they can. Thanks to both bands for making music that hugs the soul.
Can't say enough great things about Lake Street Dive. Talented musicians, performers, and song writers! Wow! Moss Brothers as warm-up were cool - neat folk counterpoint to LSD's pop rock. House of Blues Houston is like so many venues for up-and-coming bands these days. Standing room only sucks for music lovers. Short people can't see. Drunk people pushing through repeatedly to get more booze at the bar. Yuk. I'd rather wait and see bands in a venue designed to enjoy the experience.
Great to see Lake Street Dive back in Cambridge again. LSD always puts on an incredible show. All members of the band throw themselves into the performance with enthusiasm & joy. Loved that the audience was invited to join the band with dressing up per the evening's theme. =)
Loved the Hawaiian beach party gig at Sinclair by LSD. . . Also loved the opener Eleanor Bigsby !
Lake Street Dive was the best live show I've seen all year. They're excellent musicians, funny, sexy and look like they're having a great time. Can't imagine who would not enjoy one of their shows. And The Sinclair is a fabulous venue! Well laid out, great acoustics and none of that strange sit-down Boston formality.
Fantastic show & great theme! A great way to ring in the new year!
Winter in Hawaii !! Everyone dressed for it. Beach balls were flying and the band was in rare form. the Sinclair is a must see venue. It maxies out a 500. Smooth vocals and "wall of sound" from 4 members. If your looking for great vibe and a good time, Lake Street Dive !!
Incredible show. Amazing venue. This band is better live than on their album, and are always a great time.
Jesse Dee looked great with his hair slicked back. They were a great lead in to Lake Street. Loved the homecoming theme and The Sinclair venue. Lake Street was fantastic!
Lake Street Dive put on an amazing show!!! They played some new songs and I can't wait for the new album.I love how they don't need synthesizers or anything. Rachel's voice is so incredible, I never tire of hearing it. Bridget, McDuck and Micheal are such great musicians and singers as well, I love them!!! The venue was great, would definitely go to any show there again. The acoustics were great, but the opening act was FAR too loud. Made it not enjoyable at times and needed to cover my ears.
Rachel Price is a star in the making, the band is great as well .Normally not my style of live music but LSD rocked the (slightly over) enthusiastic house to its bones. I have not seen three more diverse covers ( Walking on Broken Glass , Jump , I want You Back) self styled so completely . The originals were owned and honored as well. Fantastic show . I love the State Theater , but it is an acquired taste .
