About

Lake Street Dive have pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound--a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more--the five-piece's all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd. In the making of their GRAMMY-nominated album Good Together, vocalist Rachael Price, bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison reinforced the deep sense of purpose behind their output, often turning their attention to the many factors driving us apart today (e.g., unchecked technological growth, culturally imposed isolation, the cult of relentless self-optimization). Born from a mindset they refer to as "joyful rebellion," Good Together arrives as a body of work both gloriously defiant and primed to inspire unbridled dancing and ecstatic singing-along.

The follow-up to 2021's Obviously, Good Together finds Lake Street Dive working again with Grammy-winning producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr.). With its sonic landscape encompassing everything from R&B to funk to Brazilian pop, the album opens on its title track: a left-of-center love song celebrating the thrill of defying expectation and following your heart's desire. Next, on "Dance with a Stranger," Lake Street Dive once again prove their undeniable gift for crafting feel-good songs with an illuminating message, simultaneously inducing a carefree euphoria and gently fostering empathy. The wildly cathartic "Walking Uphill" presents gripping meditation on the work of self-repair, while "Seats at the Bar" puts a sweetly playful twist on the classic love song. And on "Twenty-Five," Price shares a stark and lovely ballad steeped in tender reminiscence of a long-ago romance. All throughout Good Together, Lake Street Dive tap into the palpable camaraderie that's fueled the band since their formation, ultimately delivering their most collaborative, expansive, and powerfully exuberant work to date.

One can appreciate Lake Street Dive so much more when you see them live. They are full of energy and talent. They truly appreciate their audience and want to please. Lots of enthusiasm. Saw them at Radio City but appreciated them much more in this smaller venue.

  • LSD doesn't disappoint--even better live!

by Anonymous on 6/9/17Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Hailing from a Massachusetts music conservatory, these four have all the tricks up their sleeves to impress, but it never feels frilly--if they're on stage, the crowd is grooving and meaning it, too. That's perhaps the best verb for Lake Street Dive--groovy--whether it's the contagious confidence (oh, the dancing) of lead singer Rachel as you both spit the lyrics onto whoever needs a telling, or the transcendent genre you can never put a label on. Rachel carries the lead remarkably, and from the set list (appropriate covers, oldies but goodies, timely tempo changes) to solo spotlights, every other element makes out for a well-rounded show. I may be biased as a clear fan, but even a stranger can agree (and I've found myself in rookie company): the music is good, and the show no less.

This was the 5th time in 4 cities in16 months we've seen LSD. Rachel Price is one of our favorite vocalists and happy artists. Every show gets the audience up and moving. I'm asked what type of music we like often. It's varied, but I always mention LSD. SEE THEM!!!

I love this band's music so much and seeing them live was even better! Would definitely see them again.

The opening act Joey Dosik is a trio from California, great sound and stage presence. Lake Street Dive was excellent, every member of the group is very talented and the voice of Rachael Price is PRICELESS. The only negative was the LSD's stage lighting early in the set was blinding, had to close my eyes.

  • Another great show.

by orthobiz on 3/4/17Michigan Theater - Ann ArborRating: 5 out of 5

Saw them in Chicago last year. They keep honing their craft and get better all the time. Addition of guest organ added a lot to the body of sound plus, on the one song he sang, he has a great voice.

Did not disappoint! Always so much fun. Rachael never stops smiling and brings so much energy along with the rest of her band. The audience was totally into it. I can't wait to see them again! Phenomenal

  • LSD is amazing

by McDot on 12/23/16Boch Center Wang Theatre (formerly Citi Performing Arts Center) - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Lake Street dive is an amazing band. They are full of energy and each song is different and unique. They make the covers they do their own. Bohemian Rhapsody was a great example of this. What an excellent band!

  • by Anonymous on 10/15/16Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Lake Street Dive - I just love their music! Great performance; they had the balcony literally swaying by the end of the concert (even though this is a seated theater with noroom to dance in the balcony). Rachael Price is a great front-woman. Rubblebucket was a great opening act - it was great to discover them, check them out!

  • Lake Street Dive is Big Time Sound

by Risonn on 10/13/16Radio City Music Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The combination of Jazz/Americana and the awesomely powerful voice of Rachel Price couldn't have been any better. Originals and covers had the crowd pumped up and the conceptual meaning of the title "Side Pony" added a great context to an evening that was definitely not your average show.

  • Way Fun in the best of ways!

by fanoffranknstein on 10/13/16Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

You don't need to be a fan to feel the energy in the room when Lake Street Dive performs. The collective of musicians feed off one another in this remarkable stripped-down ensemble; they really let the subtle (and not so subtle) nuances of any song they perform come through. Each member plays to the song, and the shining vocals are given their due diligence.

  • Wonderful Concert!!

by SoManyNames on 10/13/16Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Anyone who has not seen Lake Street Dive live is missing out. We also very much enjoyed the performance by Rubblebucket. The energy was amazing and their talent is unbelievable. I would definitely see them again and again and again... their music is so fun.
