About

Lake Street Dive have pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound--a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more--the five-piece's all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd. In the making of their GRAMMY-nominated album Good Together, vocalist Rachael Price, bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison reinforced the deep sense of purpose behind their output, often turning their attention to the many factors driving us apart today (e.g., unchecked technological growth, culturally imposed isolation, the cult of relentless self-optimization). Born from a mindset they refer to as "joyful rebellion," Good Together arrives as a body of work both gloriously defiant and primed to inspire unbridled dancing and ecstatic singing-along.

The follow-up to 2021's Obviously, Good Together finds Lake Street Dive working again with Grammy-winning producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr.). With its sonic landscape encompassing everything from R&B to funk to Brazilian pop, the album opens on its title track: a left-of-center love song celebrating the thrill of defying expectation and following your heart's desire. Next, on "Dance with a Stranger," Lake Street Dive once again prove their undeniable gift for crafting feel-good songs with an illuminating message, simultaneously inducing a carefree euphoria and gently fostering empathy. The wildly cathartic "Walking Uphill" presents gripping meditation on the work of self-repair, while "Seats at the Bar" puts a sweetly playful twist on the classic love song. And on "Twenty-Five," Price shares a stark and lovely ballad steeped in tender reminiscence of a long-ago romance. All throughout Good Together, Lake Street Dive tap into the palpable camaraderie that's fueled the band since their formation, ultimately delivering their most collaborative, expansive, and powerfully exuberant work to date.

  • Lake Street Dive was a perfect 10

by Boure101 on 7/19/18House of Blues New Orleans presented by Cricket Wireless - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

I been around music all my life, raised in a little Bayou town were the Cajun French Music, Swamp POP, Zydeco, was basically was born, was into the late 60's Rock, early alternative , Punk, Rock music that started in the 70's, 80's 90's, into the 2000's, so when a band like Lake Street Dive comes around, never heard them before, and the band makes you Tingle!!! well I'm impressed, I have been to the HOB time and time again, perfect venue for bands like LSD to perform, like being at a private show, I'm sure I'll be back for the next one, also the VIP seating was perfect also, the staff at HOB top shelf, we will be talking about this one for a long time,

Didn’t really know much about LSD until I saw them play live. The lead singer’s voice- UNBELIEVABLE! Sound was terrific for an outdoor venue and the band was fabulous. Totally impressed and now a fan :)

  • Just an amazing show...

by ShadyLaneMaine on 7/10/18Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

It was a beautiful July night on the Fore River in Portland. Thompson's Point is a great place to a show (though I think they need to better manage the whole "it's OK to bring a chair" plan, after lugging my chair for about 3/4 of a mile, only to be told I couldn't bring it in...but we dealt with it). The lines for the food trucks were long, but the lines for a beer were not, which in the long run was just fine. We managed to find a great place to stand and enjoy the show. Lake Street Dive was absolutely fantastic, and while Rachael Price gets a lot of attention - and rightfully so - the band itself is tight, and a pleasure to listen to. With the blend of vocals and instrumentals, the evening was one of the best I have ever experienced in my 56 years. The selection of tunes was a nice blend and well balanced between old, new, with a ballad cover of Michael Jackson's "I Want You Back" thrown in for good measure. Just a great show. I cannot wait to see them again.

  • Beautiful Night with Lake Street Dive

    by Redbarn19 on 7/10/18Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

This is the 5th time I have seen LSD and they are getting very popular. The first 4 times were much smaller venues and the shows were AWESOME! The price you pay for being popular is more people want to be part of it. Thompson Point is an amazing venue right on the water under the stars. The show was high energy and fun. Great to hear her sing the new songs from the new CD. (Nice touch - everyone who bought a ticket got a CD in the mail before the show). All in all a great night but I wish they weren't so popular yet!

  • Amazing!!

  • Lake Street Dive @ Thompson's Point

by AlsoNoneOfYourBusiness on 7/10/18Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed both bands' performance. The issue of parking at Thompson's Point takes away from the evening.

Packed house but venue staff and location did an excellent job accommodating such a large group of people. Show was wonderful and memorable.

  • Lake St Dive

by LBRR on 7/10/18Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Lake St Dive was great, as always. A little disappointed that they were on stage for just over an hour. The opener was well received, but not really my cup of tea. So lots of waiting for a short show. Venue holds a lot of people well. Food, drink and restrooms readily available - although I did not try any of those options. Food looked and smelled good as I watched people return with food. It is well managed from entry to exit despite the crowd. Overall a beautiful Maine evening spent hearing wonderful music.

  • Fabulous show by a fabulous band!

by GoLSD on 7/10/18Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

My first experience at Thompson's Point, and it was all good. I'd seen Lake Street Dive a bunch of times at the State Theater, but never outdoors. The show was incredible. The band was at the top of its form, the opening act, though they took a little while to warm up and catch their stride, was very good, the sound system worked great, the Port-O-Potties were clean and sufficient in number that I never had to wait in line, the security folks were pleasant and completely inoffensive, the variety of food trucks was impressive, and the lines for beer and wine were polite and fast. All in all, everything worked smoothly and comfortably. We had a terrific time and would definitely return for another show there by the right band.

  • LSD exceeded the expectation!!

Gorgeous night in Maine for an outdoor concert. Lake Street Dive was amazing!!

  • Recent fan...now fan for life

by sethitsatrap on 7/10/18Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show. I was only recently introduced to then via Pandora and was blown awayby their covers. Most of their show is originals so though they have a big covers presence on YouTube don't think that's what you're going to hear. I did wush they played rich girl though.

  • Lake Street Dive was awesome

by RIckJB on 7/10/18Thompson's Point - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Lake Street Dive is maybe the best band out there these days. Each member is unbelievable at their craft but together they’re unforgettable in concert.
