About

John Mayer is a man of contradictions. He’s an international pop star, but also an authentic bluesman endorsed by some of the genre’s biggest legends (B.B. King, Eric Clapton). He's famous for dating some of the entertainment industry's most beautiful women, but dislikes the red carpet and lives on a ranch in Montana.  Mayer is known for his hushed-acoustic sound, but has collaborated with hip-hop giants Kanye West, Common, and Frank Ocean. Among the contradictions, however, exists a through line: Mayer’s prowess as a singer-songwriter and guitarist has remained a constant, earning him 7 Grammys and over 20 million album sales worldwide.  After a series of granuloma-related throat surgeries forced him to take a complete vocal break in 2012, Mayer is fully recovered and back on tour in 2013 –  fans can catch him LIVE in concert in support of his sixth studio album Paradise Valley, named after the site of his new Montana home.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Mayer took up the guitar at 13, inspired by the music of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Michael J. Fox’s epic guitar performance as Marty McFly in Back to the Future.  After briefly attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Mayer dropped out to pursue his passion, and quickly attracted the attention of label execs with a March 2000 appearance at South By Southwest.  His official 2001 debut Room For Squares went multi-platinum, and earned him his first Grammy – Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”  Mayer followed up in 2003 with Heavier Things, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned him two more Grammys, including Song of the Year for “Daughters.” 2006’s Continuum, Mayer’s third album, highlighted his blues sensibilities and landed him another Grammy, this time for Best Pop Vocal Album.

John Mayor never ceases to impress. We enjoyed every minute that he played. The little videos of him from years past was a lovely touch. Highly recommend checking out this tour

    Never Disappoints

by Lexi on 11/1/23State Farm Arena - Atlanta

My first JM concert was in 2001. Since then I have seen him 30+ times. This Solo show was one of the very best!! No other guests and no distractions. Best song list ever! Plan on seeing him many more times.

    John Mayer made my YEAR!

by Lancifire L-$ on 11/1/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

So I made a sign and brought my 2 brothers to the show. At the end I was right above the tunnel where John goes to the green room and I held up my bright green sign that said “my name is Lance, been to 52 shows I love you” and I shouted John! He looks up checks out my sign and gives me the head nod, I said ‘I’ll see you in Austin buddy!” I get full body chill bumps every time I watch the video. Houston was better than Dallas bc of the audience was giving John the same energy he gave right back to him.

    Not too shabby

by TYO on 11/1/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

John was in fine form and voice. He performed for almost two hours. It wasn't the best John Mayer show I've seen but it was good. I think I prefer him with his band. It just seemed like something was missing.

The best John Mayer has ever been! Truly.

by Kimmy on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

I've been a fan of John Mayer's music for over 20 years. This was my fifth time seeing him live in concert, and the third time on this Solo Tour... All I can say is WOW. He gets better EVERY time. This tour is such a gift to anyone that gets to attend it, and especially for the longtime fans who have been able to witness such incredible growth from John & his music over the years. What a treat to hear him play so many of his old songs with new energy!! I have always loved the acoustic versions best, and truly, this music is better than ever. I love you, John. I'm a fan for life.

John Mayer was great. Fans were not.

by AD on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

John Mayer was amazing as always. JP Saxe is another favorite of mine and he knocked it out of the park too. However I have never been to show where so many people were constantly getting in and out of their seats and rows. So chaotic the entire time! The aisles that went up and down the arena looked like escalators full of people almost the whole night. My sister and I had to get up no less than 20 times to let people in and out. Then there were several groups of people around us who thought this would be the best place to catch up on all the gossip and the show that we all paid hundreds of dollars to see was just background music to their main character storyline. It was so frustrating. I'm not sure if every show on tour was like this but Dallas was a huge disappointment in this regard.

    John Mayer Solo

by Sylvia on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

I’ve waited for years to see John Mayer live but he doesn’t make his way this far south very often. When I heard he was coming to the AAC in Dallas I was so excited as the AAC is a great venue for his caliber of entertainment. I have seen several concerts there and have never been disappointed in the acoustics, accommodations and service the employees provide with a smile on their faces. Our evening at the John Mayer-Solo concert was phenomenal. We parked close by and had no problem exiting and driving home. I can’t wait to purchase more concert tickets! Go Stars! Go Mavs!

    Brilliance

by VH1981 on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

Different than his normal type of set. Very intimate, but amazing. One of the few mainstream artists who can capture the attention of audience with just him and his instrument. Amazing.

    Intimate experience for super fans

by Kel on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

He did a great job and is amazingly musically talented. It’s a must for super fans. Without the band and big production, people that are not huge fans may find it lacking. I took my son for his first concert. He liked it but am looking forward to taking him to a “real” concert that’s playing hits and gets people out of their seats.

    Very Disappointing

by Brett V on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

This is not a concert for a casual John Mayer fan. If you are going, expecting to hear his hits form the last 20 years, you will be very disappointed. He is exceptionally talented- but this is for the super fans that know every lyric to every deep cut. If you are expecting to relive your 20s and 30s, you will be disappointed.

    John Mayer SOLO awesome

by Lane on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

Fantastic musician live. Seen many times. You have to appreciate an artist that can be alone on stage with his guitars and piano and sound great, engage with the crowd and take requests. Talented through and through

    Incredible performance

    by Candice on 10/31/23

This was my second time seeing John Mayer and it did not disappoint. Seeing him solo was incredible. His guitar skills are unmatched and I had chills multiple times watching and listening! His set list was fire during his Dallas show! He is such an impressive musician—using a wide range of instruments throughout the show. One of my favorite concerts ever and my favorite artist. 10/10.

    Great show, couldnt see screens

by Mark on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

We had seats side stage top and nobody could see the screens in my area or the opposite side. All they had to do was tilt the screens at about a 10-20 degree angle and we would have been able to see. They didnt think that one out. For 150 dollar ticket, i thought I would at least be able to see the screens. Sounds was great, video not so much. American Airlines center

John Was Amazing; Setup was Okay

by El Don on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

John was awesome as always. We were in section 121 off to the right of the stage and the screens were close enough to us to see but we’re faced directly straight out so we were only able to see them at an annoying angle. The audience sitting in front of the stage had a view from the biggest screen so they would most likely not be using the smaller screens on the side. They should really angle the side screens for the crowd that’s sitting on the sides of the stage to keep them connected to the show. I wasn’t able to get any real good closeups of John performing so that kind of sucks.
