The Modell Lyric - Baltimore

Pretty cool venue. John Mayer was amazing. This was my 13th John Mayer concert. I’d definitely come back. Seats were good & sound was great!

John never misses!

The Modell Lyric - Baltimore

It’s very rare an artist can fill a room with their sound. John knows how to connect to his audience and create an intimate and unforgettable experience. This is my fifth time seeing him and the Lyric gave me the opportunity to stand five feet away from him. A memory i won’t soon forget.

An indescribable experience

The Modell Lyric - Baltimore

To see John Mayer solo acoustic was one of the top concerts I have ever been to. It felt like he was putting on a private show. Acoustics sounded remarkable. So crystal clear and beautiful. 10/10 experience

In typical fashion, JM was amazing!

The Modell Lyric - Baltimore

Although I have seen John Mayer several other times, this by far, was the greatest experience. An all acoustic set in a small intimate theatre was worth the trip to Baltimore 100 x over. JM, his guitar, a harmonica, and his great personality = a night to remember!

Play and sing Mayer

The Modell Lyric - Baltimore

He sounded great, but then he started speaking about “the male agenda” and “erections”. I paid so my teenage son and I could enjoy good music by an incredible guitarist. This concert was to raise money towards breast cancer, not to complain about a confirmation hearing. He was way off base, not the time or the place. To his credit he did apologize after the next song. The day he’s married for over 17 years and is raising 2 teenagers, I’ll consider his message to be more than just lip service. It all comes down to the Golden Rule.

John Mayer is all heart - the audience wasn’t

The Modell Lyric - Baltimore

Special benefit performance for Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center on behalf of Paul Reed Smith Guitars. Fantastic set list. John Mayer is perhaps the best guitarist on the planet, and a brilliant composer and lyricist - and he’s taking good care of himself and that incredible voice. He’s still a bit young for timeless legend status, but that’s his trajectory. The venue is beautiful and elegantly designed for a clear view from almost every seat. I can was on the 10th row center, although I was disappointed that the grown women on the 1st row rudely stood for the entire show - everyone in orchestra had to stand to see (the balcony audience was seated for most of the show). I love to dance, but that wasn’t the format. It was acoustic! Even John Mayer himself said he “didnt’t expect this level of energy.” He’s too polite to tell them to sit down!!! John Mayer seems like an intelligent, thoughtful man who in my opinion has redeemed himself with regard to any youthful indiscretion. He’s all heart and I’m grateful that he used the performance as an opportunity to opine about the need for an “alpha male contract.” The audience was a bit surprised, but they listened!!! Then he performed “Daughters” to emphasize his point. Later in the show, he apologized for making his remarks in that setting (which I thought was not needed but, again, he’s polite!) The audience in general was noisy and rude - this surprised me. Since it was a fundraiser, I presumed there would be a good vibe. The Dead & Co shows and his The Search for Everything Tour (Charlotte 8/15/17) were fun. This audience was kind of aloof and frantic (and maybe a bit drunk?). His performance was fantastic, though.

Always love John Mayer!

The Modell Lyric - Baltimore

John Mayer’s acoustic night was amazing as anticipated - he never disappoints. My only complaint is that it was a very short show (he played just over an hour) and the event was over just after 10pm.

I'm in love!

Modell Opera House - Baltimore

I loved him before, but now I love him even more. John puts on an excellent show. I especially enjoyed when he shared before (or after) some of the songs, allowing us a peek into his feelings while writing the song, or what it meant to him at that time of his life. It was a special experience.

WAY TOO SHORT

The Modell Lyric - Baltimore

I'm a DIE HARD John Mayer fan and was so stoked when I saw the announcement that he would be playing an ACOUSTIC event. Bought tickets early and traveled 3 hours from NYC... I was all in. The song selection was somewhat predictable and could have been better. The banter between songs was as entertaining as ever. The only [serious] complaint I have was that he only played for 1 HOUR!!!! My insatiable desire for JM music was left only half fulfilled.

It doesn’t get any better than John Mayer live!

The Modell Lyric - Baltimore

Excellent musician and songwriter! One of the best live performers ever!

Biography

John Mayer is a man of contradictions. He’s an international pop star, but also an authentic bluesman endorsed by some of the genre’s biggest legends (B.B. King, Eric Clapton). He's famous for dating some of the entertainment industry's most beautiful women, but dislikes the red carpet and lives on a ranch in Montana.  Mayer is known for his hushed-acoustic sound, but has collaborated with hip-hop giants Kanye West, Common, and Frank Ocean. Among the contradictions, however, exists a through line: Mayer’s prowess as a singer-songwriter and guitarist has remained a constant, earning him 7 Grammys and over 20 million album sales worldwide.  After a series of granuloma-related throat surgeries forced him to take a complete vocal break in 2012, Mayer is fully recovered and back on tour in 2013 –  fans can catch him LIVE in concert in support of his sixth studio album Paradise Valley, named after the site of his new Montana home.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Mayer took up the guitar at 13, inspired by the music of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Michael J. Fox’s epic guitar performance as Marty McFly in Back to the Future.  After briefly attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Mayer dropped out to pursue his passion, and quickly attracted the attention of label execs with a March 2000 appearance at South By Southwest.  His official 2001 debut Room For Squares went multi-platinum, and earned him his first Grammy – Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”  Mayer followed up in 2003 with Heavier Things, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned him two more Grammys, including Song of the Year for “Daughters.” 2006’s Continuum, Mayer’s third album, highlighted his blues sensibilities and landed him another Grammy, this time for Best Pop Vocal Album.
