About

John Mayer is a man of contradictions. He’s an international pop star, but also an authentic bluesman endorsed by some of the genre’s biggest legends (B.B. King, Eric Clapton). He's famous for dating some of the entertainment industry's most beautiful women, but dislikes the red carpet and lives on a ranch in Montana.  Mayer is known for his hushed-acoustic sound, but has collaborated with hip-hop giants Kanye West, Common, and Frank Ocean. Among the contradictions, however, exists a through line: Mayer’s prowess as a singer-songwriter and guitarist has remained a constant, earning him 7 Grammys and over 20 million album sales worldwide.  After a series of granuloma-related throat surgeries forced him to take a complete vocal break in 2012, Mayer is fully recovered and back on tour in 2013 –  fans can catch him LIVE in concert in support of his sixth studio album Paradise Valley, named after the site of his new Montana home.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Mayer took up the guitar at 13, inspired by the music of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Michael J. Fox’s epic guitar performance as Marty McFly in Back to the Future.  After briefly attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Mayer dropped out to pursue his passion, and quickly attracted the attention of label execs with a March 2000 appearance at South By Southwest.  His official 2001 debut Room For Squares went multi-platinum, and earned him his first Grammy – Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”  Mayer followed up in 2003 with Heavier Things, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned him two more Grammys, including Song of the Year for “Daughters.” 2006’s Continuum, Mayer’s third album, highlighted his blues sensibilities and landed him another Grammy, this time for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Dead & Company’s summer tour runs from May 31st to July 6th.

    One of a kind entertainer.

    by Tina on 1/19/24

When I heard Room for Squares for the first time in 2001, I was hooked. I have bought all of his albums since. John Mayer’s music is different. I feel it on a deeper level. I’ve seen John perform four times. Each time has been fantastic. At one of his concerts at SPAC, in Saratoga, he and his guitarist played each other’s guitar. The guitarist stood behind John and played John’s guitar as John played the guitar behind him. I was and still am so impressed by that. John has a special gift and it is evident that he truly loves what he does. It is a honor and privilege to be able to watch him play his guitar and listen to him sing. My 26 year old son Andrew was also a huge John Mayer fan. He passed away July 12, 2023. He was my concert buddy. I know that whenever I can see another John Mayer concert, my son will be there in spirit. It would be great if John did meet and greets. To meet him would be a dream come true. I would recommend seeing John to anyone.

    Johnny boy shines

by Candyman on 12/7/23Chase Center - SAN FRANCISCO

The show was excellent. Got floor seats and were nice and close. Mayer looks so comfortable that it’s almost as hanging out in his living room and him busting out the acoustic and playing for you. Didn’t get Edge of Desire but YBIAWL waz a lot of fun.

    SOUL JOURNEY

by Moni K. on 11/19/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

Best Concert of my 2023! 2nd time going to this tours show and I LOVED every minute. John was thoughtful and spontaneous with his set list. He was gracious to his audience and gave back every ounce of energy given. His talent extends beyond the stars. Thanks John for being a reason I smiled, cried, laughed and I can't wait to experience your music again. Bringing that comfy Cafe feel to the big stage. I've been following your career since Berkley and it only gets better.

I’ve seen him many times and his show at the Forum last week was the best I’ve ever attended. He is truly a legend among us.

Sooo Exciting to see JM solo!!!

by lisabtrue on 11/17/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

Truly a dream come true!. John Mayer solo at the Kia Forum was so amazing. Words can't describe the feelings experienced watching this phenomenal musician play and sing was transcendental. Being there with my daughter who introduced me to Johns music was so special. I bought the tickets for her birthday and we haven't stopped talking about it since. The baby reveal was terrific. The guitar riff insane! Thank you for a life changing experience!!

    Miss The Band

by Meh on 11/14/23Chase Center - SAN FRANCISCO

Appreciate the intimacy of a solo show but I just personally missed the electric guitar and live band. That's what makes John great to me. If you are like me, you love the solos, the full melodies and sounds, you'll be disappointed. Great venue though.
