About

John Mayer is a man of contradictions. He’s an international pop star, but also an authentic bluesman endorsed by some of the genre’s biggest legends (B.B. King, Eric Clapton). He's famous for dating some of the entertainment industry's most beautiful women, but dislikes the red carpet and lives on a ranch in Montana.  Mayer is known for his hushed-acoustic sound, but has collaborated with hip-hop giants Kanye West, Common, and Frank Ocean. Among the contradictions, however, exists a through line: Mayer’s prowess as a singer-songwriter and guitarist has remained a constant, earning him 7 Grammys and over 20 million album sales worldwide.  After a series of granuloma-related throat surgeries forced him to take a complete vocal break in 2012, Mayer is fully recovered and back on tour in 2013 –  fans can catch him LIVE in concert in support of his sixth studio album Paradise Valley, named after the site of his new Montana home.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Mayer took up the guitar at 13, inspired by the music of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Michael J. Fox’s epic guitar performance as Marty McFly in Back to the Future.  After briefly attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Mayer dropped out to pursue his passion, and quickly attracted the attention of label execs with a March 2000 appearance at South By Southwest.  His official 2001 debut Room For Squares went multi-platinum, and earned him his first Grammy – Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”  Mayer followed up in 2003 with Heavier Things, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned him two more Grammys, including Song of the Year for “Daughters.” 2006’s Continuum, Mayer’s third album, highlighted his blues sensibilities and landed him another Grammy, this time for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Dead & Company’s summer tour runs from May 31st to July 6th.

    Ok, but not great

by Chris R on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

Opening act JP Saxe was very funny, but didn't care for his music much. John Mayer is incredibly talented and sounds great, but I left thinking I probably won't go see him again. The show was underwhelming and seemed short.

    Absolutely fabulous!

by Griff on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

John still has it!! He immediately connects with the audience and is actually quite funny. Great voice and an absolute genius on guitar! Love the very real and raw messages in his songs. So very relatable. It was worth going and I’ll definitely go see him again.

Best Current Music Artist Out There

by JW on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

Mayer is truly this century’s best musician. He was able to captivate a whole arena with just him and a guitar.

    Great show, terrible seats

by Dedra on 10/31/23American Airlines Center - Dallas

Mayer was great! Great song selection, great sound, no complaints about the concert itself. But we paid over $200 for 2 tickets, sat at the very top back row and the first 20 mins we had an obstructed view. Mayer was sitting on a stool and was blocked by the speakers hanging down and the screens were partially obstructed, as well. Thankfully he moved and we were able to see him the rest of the time. It would have been fine if the tickets would have been less money and the seats would have been advertised as obstructed view, but they shouldn't advertise them incorrectly. Also, when did concerts just become places to chat?! I know this will just make me sound old, but I go to a concert to HEAR the artist, not the people sitting next to me loudly catching up on the past 6 months. The seats at the top/back should be priced accordingly so we can afford to sit closer and enjoy the show with people who want to be there. Just my two cents.

    Amazing Artist, Horrible Seats

by Unhappy Customer on 10/30/23CFG Bank Arena - Baltimore

100 dollar ticket seats to be seated facing a wall. Don’t buy section 118 or anything near it!!!!!! Worst seats ever!!!! Couldn’t see a single thing! Not even the big screen! John Mayer was amazing though. This star rating has nothing to do with John Mayers performance. Baltimore stadium sucks!

    Never again at UBS

by Mayer Fan on 10/29/23UBS Arena - Belmont Park - Long Island

John Mayer was fantastic. The venue. Awful. Who designed this arena? Traffic horrible. Have to take shuttles to and from the train that sit in parking lot traffic. Who ever designed this should be fired. The entrance is on the opposite side of where you come in from. Was a traffic study done that you need to get on the cross island to get in or out. Not to mention NYPD on the elmont tracks and then Nassau PD on the street. How much money in police officers from different departments just to be standing around bc the Venue is in 2 boroughs. Overall not impressed by UBS. Very very expensive inside also. Would think twice before going back.

    Amazing as always!

    by Sarah B on 10/29/23

Saw the John Mayer Solo tour last night and it was incredible! He played so many different guitars, harmonica, piano, and even some whistling! He’s amazing onstage and if you’ve never seen him live, you just have to! Lots of throw back songs from when he first started, which was great for an OG fan to reminisce! Great show and will keep going to all of his tours!

Great - despite not feeling 100%

by 215P16 on 10/29/23State Farm Arena - Atlanta

The concert was great. Though the area had an over abidance of loud conversation at time. John Mayer gave a great performance even feeling under the weather.

John Mayer was amazing! Loved the Solo aspect! You could understand him when he was talking and it was nice for everything to be more intimate even though it was a big venue!

    True John Mayer fan experience.

by Emily on 10/29/23Spectrum Center - Charlotte

Having attended several John Mayer concerts I will say that this concert was made for a true fan. All you need is John Mayer and a guitar. The set list was a perfect mix of songs. He even took "requests". He was spontaneous, reflecting, sweet and funny.

    Unprepared

by as on 10/28/23State Farm Arena - Atlanta

John Mayor is an incredible artist. His guitar playing was off the charts. His vocals were very good. He interacted well with the audience. He talked about his history in Atlanta and that was fun and entertaining. He was so gracious. I hate to write this given that he is so talented. He had a playlist of songs that sounded good but I was unfamiliar with them. The only songs I knew were Daughters, Your Body Is a Wonderland and Free Falling. This was my first John Mayor show. I wanted to hear Helpless live because the riffs are so . . . you know. That's one bad cat. Maybe next time. I'm not disappointed because the show was excellent. I just wish I could have sung along more. JB Saxes' A Little Bit Yours - so good. He says he'll be back in February.
