About

The music of half•alive breathes, evolves, grows, and changes alongside the lives of the Long Beach trio—Josh Taylor [vocals], Brett Kramer [drums], and J Tyler Johnson [bass]. half•alive officially came to life on the 2017 3 EP, which sparked a palpable buzz on the strength of “The Fall” and “Aawake At Night”. Over the course of the next year, they crafted what became their massive breakout “still feel.” which has been RIAA certified Gold, rocketed into the Top 10 at Alt Radio and has over 276 million worldwide streams to date. The video organically surpassed the 10 million mark within two months as the song garnered acclaim from NPR’s coveted “All Songs Considered” and more. The trio sold out their formal debut headlining tour in 2019 which included 2 sold out shows at The Fonda Theatre in LA. The tour also included stops at major music festivals including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Bumbershoot. Later that year the band made their late night television debut with a very special performance of “still feel.” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.Check out the incredible and unique performance HERE.

They also performed “Runaway” on The Late Late Show with James Corden. In August 2019, they released their debut album Now, Not Yet which has amassed over 472 million worldwide audio streams to date. half•alive was named YouTube’s Artist on the Rise and their live Vevo DSCVR performances of “RUNAWAY” and “arrow” showcase their incredible creative artistry. Last year, half•alive released their EP “in Florescence,” an audio and visual project that included orchestral arrangements of 4 tracks off their critically acclaimed debut album Now, Not Yet as well as videos for 3 of the 4 songs to accompany them.

    Met All Expectations 💕

by Spf 6000 on 10/20/23The Fillmore - San Francisco

Half•Alive brought the energy they are known for, with engaging dancers and beautiful visuals. They started and ended with my absolute favorite songs from them, and they always kept the energy flowing. They made sure to change it up just often enough for you not to get bored, letting you take in and appreciate the show. Thomas Headon was an absolute delight to see, even if it was my first time hearing them. The merch was super pretty and well made, and the Fillmore staff were all welcoming. The worst thing I could possibly say about it is that at the end I got kind of tired and it was a little bit harder to keep the high energy levels, but even then I still had fun and could enjoy it. It was an absolutely delightful first ever concert experience for me!

    Saved from the warm-up band.

by Russ on 10/16/23Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Good concert. You get your money's worth with half-alive. One continuing source of frustration is the secrecy. 6:30 doors open, band plays at 8:00pm. Why not full disclosure? Doors open, warmup band start and end times, headliner band start and end times.

    MAGICAL!!!

by cr34tur316 on 10/15/23Tannahill's Tavern and Music Hall - Fort Worth

Everything about the show was perfect. They are such sweet people and such great artists. I had a really good time. They are so underrated, but that’s kind of a good thing if you like intimate shows. I can’t wait until the next time I see them. Much love!!!

    More than a music concert

by Miraeshi on 10/15/23Aztec Theatre - San Antonio

This is my second time seeing Half Alive and they just keep getting better and better. I brought someone with me this time who had never heard of them and they were also thoroughly impressed by the show. It's not just listening to the music, they provide a whole experience. They put in effort into a backstory, dance, lights, everything. Always worth it to see these guys as they put on a fantastic show.

    Absolutely Unexpected

by PoisonFish on 10/11/23House of Blues Houston - Houston

Half-Alive brought their A-game to this concert. I was not expecting all the coordinated dancing, or their performance to tell an overarching story. You can tell this band is really dedicated to the art of songwriting and storytelling.

    Where was the main act?

by Irene on 10/10/23House of Blues Houston - Houston

It was 2+ hours into things and the main act still hadn’t shown. I ended up leaving for different reasons. One being I was just so put off by that that I wasn’t going to enjoy things anymore.

    Never Misses

by Ken 💜 on 10/8/23Iron City - Birmingham

The energy and effort given to every single show keeps us coming back. The dedication doesn’t go unnoticed. I’ve never met a group of guys who have been so committed night in and night out regardless of the time between shows to continuously tweak and bring new energy to the show.

    Amazing!

    by I. B. on 10/6/23

I love this band so much, and was so happy to be able to see them live finally. Georgia theatre is a great venue, and it felt so intimate because there were only 400 people who bought tickets, some of whom sat at the balcony. I only waited outside for 20 minutes before doors opened and I was still SUPER close to the stage. It was honestly surreal. I can’t wait to see them again!

    Awesome Stage Presence and Jams

by jfrets on 10/5/23House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

The progression of the show was fun. It was not a cut and dry run of the album, but rather more of a unique flow to it. The stage hands were practically props and the lead in to songs and breaks were entertaining. The opener was great as well!

    This isn't a concert, it's an experience

by Shauna M on 10/5/23House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

This review may be biased, half • alive is essentially my favorite band. I wasn't initially expecting to be able to attend this tour so I had already watched it in full on YouTube before attending. You would think since I knew what to expect, my expectations wouldn't be superceded. You would be wrong. This concert goes beyond what you could expect. It is not just a guy with his band singing, it is a true performance with props, choreographed dances and all. I went with my husband and family. Some of them haven't heard more than one song from half • alive. Even they were amazed. If you are able to attend this concert, I wouldn't miss it. This is more than just another concert, this is a true artistic experience.

Only the best get five stars from me.

by TRP on 10/5/23House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

Half-Alive gave a remarkable performance on October 2nd at the House of Blues in Orlando. Their show is unusual for a couple of reasons. Firstly there is frequently dancing both by the two dedicated dancers as well as band frontman Josh Taylor which adds a dynamic, organic element to the show visually. Secondly they obviously use some pre-recorded material which the others play drums, bass and other instruments along with. This is not a detraction from the show. It just gives them room to be more creative musically while keeping the band number down to three members. The quality of the performance was every bit as good as big name artists who draw huge crowds. The musicians themselves are terrific while never grandstanding or distracting from the quality of the well-written songs. Josh didn't talk much to begin with but by the end of the night the audience felt part of the conversation and all the songs you wanted him to play had their turn. This may not be the case as the years go by and their catalogue grows so it's an experience reserved for fans of younger bands. Really good music well played on the night by professional but very relatable and likable people. Five stars.

    Such good energy

by Pretzel34 on 10/5/23House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

half•alive’s music will give you chills, make you think about life and spirituality, and also keep your energy positive. The structure and theme of their show is consistently good. They are so talented, and the crowd interactive portions are unique and special. This show Josh did a medley of so many of their songs. Loved it! Everyone got to hear a favorite of their songs.

    Phenomenal

by M Godinez on 9/28/23The Pageant - St Louis

These guys are so down to earth!! Not only that, but the passion behind their playing, singing, lyrics and choreography speaks so much louder than a lot of other artists I had seen in the past!! I highly recommend seeing Half•alive if you get the chance!!:)
