About

The music of half•alive breathes, evolves, grows, and changes alongside the lives of the Long Beach trio—Josh Taylor [vocals], Brett Kramer [drums], and J Tyler Johnson [bass]. half•alive officially came to life on the 2017 EP, which sparked a palpable buzz on the strength of “The Fall” and “Aawake At Night”. Over the course of the next year, they crafted what became their massive breakout “still feel.” which has been RIAA certified Gold, rocketed into the Top 10 at Alt Radio and has over 276 million worldwide streams to date. The video organically surpassed the 10 million mark within two months as the song garnered acclaim from NPR’s coveted “All Songs Considered” and more. The trio sold out their formal debut headlining tour in 2019 which included 2 sold out shows at The Fonda Theatre in LA. The tour also included stops at major music festivals including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Bumbershoot. Later that year the band made their late night television debut with a very special performance of “still feel.” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.Check out the incredible and unique performance HERE.

They also performed “Runaway” on The Late Late Show with James Corden. In August 2019, they released their debut album Now, Not Yet which has amassed over 472 million worldwide audio streams to date. half•alive was named YouTube’s Artist on the Rise and their live Vevo DSCVR performances of “RUNAWAY” and “arrow” showcase their incredible creative artistry. Last year, half•alive released their EP “in Florescence,” an audio and visual project that included orchestral arrangements of 4 tracks off their critically acclaimed debut album Now, Not Yet as well as videos for 3 of the 4 songs to accompany them.

    Amazing Show

    by egreene23 on 9/30/19The Masquerade - Heaven - Atlanta

Half Alive not only put on a great show musically, the lighting, and choreography (some) were added bonuses.

Great show. More than I expected. Loved the lights and dancers. Loved the small venue.

    Completely Awesome.

    by T.A.H. on 9/29/19The Underground - Charlotte

The underground was such a fun venue, and Half-Alive and Sure Sure killed it. Truly one of the most entertaining concerts I've been to in a long, long time. Both these bands have such incredible stage presence and talent-- highly recommend to anyone interested in the up-and-coming alternative scene.

Love the group, some good on stage performance, I just felt

    by W. H. on 9/29/19The Underground - Charlotte

The concert was fine, some cool visuals. Lots of fanse singing poorly and towards the end a drunk girl was yelling louder than the music and it was hard for me or anyone around me to ignore.

    Pure Gold

by Avery on 9/29/19The Underground - Charlotte

Great show, preformed rather than just sang. Only complaints are that the set list wasn’t very long and the wait between the opening act and them was way too long.

    very nice

by tori w on 9/29/19The Underground - Charlotte

when we arrived at the venue, the security checked our bags and scanned our tickets( either emailed/mailed or saved on your phone) ( which is good, I’d hope every venue does this). when we went inside we headed for the merch line. Everyone was very nice and respectful. When the concert started people went crazy, but not crazy enough for pushing and shoving. We were pretty close to the front where half.alive was playing (if you have the chance to watch them, DO IT! they’re amazing! And I won’t forget SureSure! they were awesome too) and everyone was nice! I’d definitely recommend seeing half.alive/SureSure and using Ticketmaster!

    Best Show Ever!!!

by Lana on 9/26/19The Masquerade - Atlanta

The opening band Sure Sure was really good and they really set the mood for the main act to come in and absolutely blow away any expectations I may have had. The dancing was amazing!!! The sound was just like the music videos in terms of talent. Half-Alive can really REALLY work a crowd!!

    Unforgettable!

by Dani on 2/17/19Brighton Music Hall - Boston

The whole show was amazing to watch. To start, the openers joan and Austin Prince were phenomenal! I loved half alive’s enterance and all the choreography that accompanied their songs. Their music is catchy yet poetic, beautifully expressed with so much meaning and to witness them play these songs live was a blessing. They played new songs and some covers so the concert was a good length. There were some technical difficulties which was unfortunate because you could tell that these guys worked really hard to put on the best performance for us possible and it can be disappointing when things don’t go as planned as the performer. Despite this, I don’t think that this took away from seeing all the talent these guys have. I, along with many other fans, also had the opportunity to meet them after the show. They were incredibly sweet and I appreciate them for spending their time to meet fans (because they really didn’t have to). I do believe they’re only going to get bigger from here and I can’t wait to see them again!

    Incredible!

by Quinn on 1/28/19Brighton Music Hall - Boston

If this band is top-charting and selling out stadiums in a couple years, I’ll eat my hat. They are absolutely incredible.

    First tour knock out!

by Diamond on 1/28/19Brighton Music Hall - Boston

I've seen bands play their first tour and fall short of expectations but this band exceeded them and then some! Half-Alive has such amazing energy and creativity! Great openers too! Their music moves you in so many ways. They had these incredibly talented dancers on stage, I can't even describe how mesmerizing they were. I want to thank Half-Alive for an awesome show and a great night!

    A concert is a concert

    by M. F. on 1/28/19Brighton Music Hall - Boston

I absolutely LOVE half.alive - I was so excited to have found such an amazing up-and-coming band. Their music is beautiful and I was SUPER excited to see them in concert. Before this one, I have been to two other concerts - Oh Wonder and OneRepublic. 1R's concert was, of course, amazing because they are veterans and Oh Wonder's concert was unforgettable (even though their band was also up-and-coming and it was their first tour - keep that in mind!). I went to the half.alive concert having expectations that is was going to be very similar to Oh Wonder's concert. But it indeed was not. With Oh Wonder, I was able to buy VIP passes to meet the band in person and talk to them as well as receive a signed poster of them. I was also able to connect with the singers during the concert - they constantly involved the crowd and made an impact. With half.alive, there were dancers, lots of dancing, a projection screen, - don't get me wrong it is totally fine but what the fans REALLY TRULY want to see is the band itself and that was something I truly lacked during the concert. The actual band was only up for about 30 minutes and I was really disappointed at the lack of connection I felt with them. This hasn't stopped me from liking their music though! NOTE: One of my favorite songs of them "Aawake at Night" started playing during the concert. And there is a particular part in it where the lead singer (Josh Taylor) plays the electric guitar - it is my favorite part of the whole song. When the song began, and Josh was supposed to play the guitar - he did not! He was even wearing the guitar but didn't even touch it once!!!! I was soo disappointed.

Headliner had very poor sound and production

by Henry on 1/28/19Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Despite being a small and uncentered venue, the show started well, with two great openers and good sound. The two star rating comes from how poor the sound was for the headliner. Within seconds of the show starting, there was incorrectly timed backing tracks, drums cutting in and out, and a really muddy mix. During the first song you couldn't even hear the singer. As the show continued, I hoped it would be corrected, but alas, it was not. There continued to be problems. I left the show really disappointed in not only the venue but the band, despite it not being totally their fault. A real bummer for a band I like. Overall, I'm hesitant to return to this venue for other artists and reluctant to see the headliner ever again live due to the poor production.

Engaging and one of a kind

by Rivers on 1/23/19The Masquerade - Atlanta

I’ve been a fan of half•alive for a while now and hoped that one day I would see them in concert. When I heard that they were going to tour, I was so excited that I would get to see one of my favorite bands. Their lyrics are beautiful and their sound is very groovy. As for the show, these guys genuinely look like they are having a good time dancing (by the way was amazing and well choreographed) and playing their songs. They engaged the crowd and made it seem like they were apart of the performance. I can’t wait see them again and I look forward to it! ~|•
