Music always lures Ricky Montgomery back. He blames the internet. First a devotee of the Vine underground, and now--nearly a decade and several jobs later--an unexpected hitmaker, the Los Angeles native has spent the last few years trying to reconcile with his artist self. He recently surpassed 1 billion global streams thanks to Platinum indie-pop hits "Mr. Loverman" and "Line Without a Hook." But those songs, written when he was a teen, have come to feel like they were by a whole other person--at least to Ricky. In 2023, we get to meet Rick, a sophomore set that comes seven years later, rich with electro-laced, emo-tinged alt-pop that spins stories about life in all its messy and mundane glory. Ricky's journey fits the bill: a childhood in L.A. interrupted by divorce, an adolescence playing in the basement bands of suburban Missouri, a viral explosion on a soon-to-implode platform, and a brief music career back on the West Coast that sent his songs up the Rock and Alternative charts. That was in 2014, before life intervened and he quit music for good... until the world discovered his sunny, sardonic songs. With millions of social followers and a string of sold-out tours under his belt, Ricky now sets out to document "my long, awkward path toward remembering myself as an artist," he says. "It's been embarrassing and difficult, but also thrilling. It's everything I've ever wanted to do but was too scared to try."

My daughter talked incessantly about Ricky Montgomery for over a year. So when he had a concert six hours away from us, I knew we had to go for a premature 16th birthday celebration. I figured I’d sit for a moment, listen to the opening act perform, then bow out and rest at our hotel a block away while my two girls enjoyed Ricky. That didn’t happen. First of all, the opening act (Noah Floersch) was fun and engaging. I loved his music, and was surprised at the amazing energy he had. Then Ricky comes up, and I can’t leave! It was the best concert I’ve been to in ages! Keep in mind I’m a middle-aged, tired, sassy lady, and I’m hurting from the drive (six hours hits different when you’re not 21 anymore!). But I spent the rest of the evening on my feet, rocking out with the youngsters! (I hope finding out little old ladies like me enjoying Ricky’s music doesn’t tarnish his image!). We all left that venue excited and singing Ricky tunes at the top of our lungs. I’m officially a Ricky and Noah convert! I’d happily drive six hours to see both Ricky and Noah in another concert, even if I do have to crank up the pain meds in the morning!
What a fantastic show! Ricky Montgomery did an amazing set, nobody wanted it to end. I would have stood through the whole thing all over again if given the chance. It was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. The new album is a triumph in my opinion, and the new song Unknown Phantom was a sweet surprise. The opener Noah Floersch was great too. Fun vibes and energy.
he’s an amazing performer . i’ve seen him every time he comes to town and i love it every time.
Ricky is one of the most fun people to see live. His energy is awesome and his music always hits. The only thing was that the drums were a bit to loud for the opener and it was hard to hear the opener over it but other than that it was awesome.
I am blessed to have Noah Floersch as my nephew. We had 22 tickets for the concert in Denver- an older group and a mix of family, friends and work associates. We got together at the Whiskey Bisquit before the show and had a great time. The Gothic is a great place to see live music. Noah had great stage presence and I LOVE HIS MUSIC- especially his latest album. He and the band did a great job warming the stage up for Ricky. I did not know Ricky's music prior to last night. His stage presence was also upbeat and fun. His music certainly got the crowd going and everyone was so energized and happy. It was an overall great experience and I am so happy I was part of it! Keep going strong with your music boys!!
Wonderful event! Love the crowd and the energy. And you can’t beat the price!
Ricky put on a great show!!!! We absolutely loved him!!! I brought my mom and best friend and both had a blast!!! can’t wait to see him again!!!!!!!!
Ricky was such a good préformer! He did a great job of engaging with the crowd and he was such a great singer live! I love seeing him!!
This was my first concert, and it was absolutely amazing! Both Noah Floersch (the opener) and Ricky put on an amazing show. The St. Andrews staff was super helpful and respectful, plus those who were in charge of lighting and special effects did an amazing job. It was overall a great experience, and I'm glad it was my first concert.
