One of the most influential and talented blues/rock guitarist on the planet. If you are lucky to get an opportunity to see him live do not pass up. He is much better live than on his album.

  • Sick, absolutley sick

If you ever get a chance to go see this guy go. Just a plain game changer.

  • Gary Clark Jr was great!

by jorjemonsalv on 11/14/13The Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Gary Clark Jr. played the Tabernacle in Atlanta to a capacity crowd. He open up with "Ain;t Messin' Round" and the crowd went wild. He played for almost two hours. Gary did talk a little to the crowd, but let his guitar do his talking for him. The Tabernacle is one of the best venues in the Atlanta area. The sound was excellent. His band was excellent. Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics opened.

Gary Clark, Jr is a phenomenal guitar player, and I couldn't understand what the hype was all about from his debut album -- it's good, but has its ups and downs. The difference between hearing the album recordings and hearing him live as he rips extended jams in the middle of his track is like the difference between Sanka and artisanal espresso. I really feel like I just saw Stevie Ray Vaughan playing at a tiny venue somewhere early in his career. The Wild Feathers were also an unexpected pleasure. 5 stars for them too, and I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more from them in the next year. So happy that technical problems at Royale forced the show to move across the street to the Wilbur.

  • Great Show

Love Gary Clark's CD but to hear the music live was so much better. What a great show, I will see him every time he comes this way. Loved, loved, loved it!!!

Gary is a rising star...incredible musician to see performing live. I was front row at the Royale theatre in Boston and he blew the place away! his band is tight and give him the appropriate support.

Every minute of the show I was blown away!! I haven't seen someone as musically talented as him in a long time...he is an amazing performer/musician. Wish I could see him again in a small venue like this one.

He crushed it as usual. Way too loud in the venue, but the show was A++ this dude should be way more famous.

by WenttoWoodstock on 10/19/13The Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Best show I've seen in years! I will catch him live whenever and wherever I can. Only downer, I'm tall and seats at The Tabernacle are really uncomfortable.

  • A Must See!

by Bryanbull on 10/19/13The Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

If you're a music fan, Gary Clark Jr. Is a must see. The closest you will get to the glory years of rockin blues.

  • great show

i've read a lot reviews about G.C.jr before i went to the show. none have come close to painting a picture of what to expect .I was blown away by his style .Most compare him to jimi Hendrix I guess cause he's tall and black , but from watching him play i hear and see a more SRV(Stevie Ray Vaughan meets Ernie Isley and splash of Curtis Mayfield.I love the performance nice opening act.The only thing that that kept me from giving this show a 5 star is I wish he was a little more interactive with the crowd. Thats being REAL PICKY. on an otherwise great show

  • Commodore + gary Clark,Jr.

by Maxxx on 10/10/13Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Monday night in Vancouver, drove from Kelowna to meet best friend who is big fan of G.C.Jr. This is a big deal as I needed to take two days of work for the trip.Worth it ? You bet! The music was awesome, the venue fantastic! Gary Clark has been compared to Hendrix and that's great but he has his own sound and style and voice. Texas blues, R. & B., improvisation, nice vocals, all without breaking a sweat! I spent some time looking at the Commodore as a building/venue and was really impressed with the place: good ventilation, painless sound system, black out curtains?, someone spent a lot of money to make us comfortable there. Can't wait to come back.

  • Gary Clarke Jr rocked The Commodore Ballroom

by Sherker on 10/10/13Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Gary Clarke Jr is a real talent! It was great seeing him in a classic venue. The real bonus was seeing The Monophonics...I had not heard their music and was blown away by their 90 minute show! Watching at The Commodore allows you to stand close to the band, so it was memorable!

Having seen him on TV & hearing a few of his songs I was really looking forward to this show, especially at the Commodore. First of all the sound sucked. From upstairs at the back of the room the overall sound was OK - you could differentiate the two guitars and the bass was clear. Drums sounded terrible. Up close the drums sounded way better but the overall sound was murky. Vocals were totally lost in the mix. Although he mixed it up a bit I found there was a certain sameness to every song, same tempo, same everything and I lost interest after a while. Sure he can play guitar but there's others who can technically play just as well. Joe Bonamassa was the last show I saw and there was no comparison. Joe has a great sound engineer and, although loud, every note from every instrument and every single word came through loud and clear. I was really disappointed. Plus my car was towed to cap it off.

  • Meet the future of Guitar Rock Gods...

by Ocram on 10/9/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I had already seen Gary Clark Jr.'s prowess at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony earlier in the year, when he assisted John Mayer in inducting the late great Albert King. So I was excited to see him play as a headliner...and I wasn't disappointed. He has the style and the chops, period. Great show, cool dude.

  • Here comes the storm.

by msbeea on 10/7/13Fox - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

He walks on the stage. So quiet and unassuming.....then WHAM. He just turns the table with lightening speed guitar riffs than roams through blues, jazz, and rock territories. Amazing set!

  • Gary Clark Jr is rock and roll

by Anonymous on 10/7/13Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Sick show. Wasn't alive to see it, but I imagine it would be like watching Jimi Hendrix playing live. No 2 shows would be the same.

  • Gary Clark, Jr.... mesmerizing

by chancegiven on 10/7/13Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent show. Both Gary and his other guitarist (Name?) were great. Gary isn't one to interact with the crowd and it would have been nice to get more of a flavor of the artist.
