Blown away. Gary Clark Jr. kills it. Must be seen live.
Gary Clark jr. needs better backup
by wildil on 11/4/12Royale Boston - BostonRating: 3 out of 5He's a tremendously talented player. But he set a groove his band couldn't follow. The bass drowned out Gary's lead. The audience was there to hear him not somr thumping bass. Mixing was poor. The highlight was Gary's version of 3 O'clock Blues. Not even BB himself could play it with more soul. The phrasing ws brilliant. He needs a band that can play at his level and let him lead.
Terrific guitarist who puts on a great show
by tvotr on 11/4/12Royale Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5I was very excited to see him for the first time, and I wasn't disappointed. His cover of Muddy Waters/Jimi Hendrix' Catfish Blues was a highlight. His guitar playing is very engaging. I would say he could use the stage more.
Gary Clark Jr. is Incredible
by KJD830 on 11/4/12Royale Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5One of if not the best show i've ever saw. This guy is crazy good and his band is incredible too. Got there early and met all of them they're all really cool laid back people. Plan on going every time they come to town. Just glad and honored to have went before this guy really blows up and starts playing arenas. This guy was made to play live you can see the passion and energy he plays with.
Gary Clark Jr: blues savior
by slickwilly33 on 6/14/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5this man is beyond amazing. he is the only true blues voice left, at least with their name out there. i saw him at Bonnaroo 2011, but this was something completely different. He had amazing energy and emotion, innovation with how he played, and most of all he shredded and jammed the whole time. The overall sound of the band was basically perfect, they were all right right there with his energy, and Gary's voice is as good or better live than it is recorded. I could not have asked for more.
Alternate Route to Heaven's Gate...
by PhantomButterfly on 6/14/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5I'm of the opinion that there is an alternate route to heaven's gates. Gary Clark, Jr. took me there on notes from his guitar on the twelfth night of June...

Best I have seen since Jimi Hendrix 1969
by sgmickey on 6/14/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5Gary Thank You for putting on a fantastic show in Atlanta last night!! I have not been this blown away since I saw Jimi Hendrix in 1969.You are so versatile with your vocals and playing it's hard to believe one musician can do all the things you do. By looking at the packed house last night I'm not the only one. It was truly a magical experience . I hope you come back soon!! To the ground breaking legend I salute you!!
Ahhhmazing! Gary Clark Jr blows me away every time
by ZakShak on 6/14/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5This was my 4th time to see Gary Clark Jr this year and each time it's better and better. He creates such an incredible energy that you get lost in his awesome guitar and vocal skills. I've tried to explain his effect to my friends but they just don't get it til they see him. And what an experience to see others feel him for the first time. It's like seeing kids open christmas presents!
Talented beyond belief!
by PurplePainter on 6/14/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5Gary Clark, Jr. gave a stunning performance this week at the Variety Playhouse. Raw talent, bone-chilling blues, and crazy good guitar playin' kept the crowd screaming for more. This is a show I will never forget! If you were to take the DNA from the late and greats Hendrix and SRV, put them in a cocktail shaker, add some blues and mix it up, you'd get a Gary Clark, Jr. martini. Delicious!
Fantastic
by Mindig on 6/14/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5Gary Clark Jr. and Timothy Bloom were amazing! Real artists who play instruments and can sing!
Gary Clark Jr. and band equals raw talent
by Adelae on 12/20/118x10 - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5If you don't know him yet, you will soon enough. Second time seeing this incredibly talented artist, and I was even more impressed this time around, although I'm not sure how that is possible. His intimate performances allows for audience interaction and its clear that he is not just a rare talent but also a genuinely cool guy. Run away drum and guitar solos from Gary's fellow band members leave you in awe. Get your tickets to see him at a small venue before he's headlining for the Black Keyss...because it won't take long before you know his name.
Gary Clark Jr. is incredible !!!!!
by stanlie789 on 12/20/118x10 - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5Most "TALENTED" & entertaining artist I've seen in a long time. His guitar abilities & vocal range were truly amazing !
Gary Clark, Jr. is a unique talent
by BigHB on 12/19/118x10 - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5He put on a fanatastic show at the 8X10. Catch him while you can in smaller venues.
Awesome!
by pharmgirl89 on 12/18/118x10 - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5The show was incredible! I had only heard few songs by Gary Clark, Jr. previous to going to the concert and had no idea what an amazing talent he is. Such an amazing guitarist...I'm so glad I bought tickets!
It was just ok...
by KindKat on 12/18/118x10 - BaltimoreRating: 3 out of 5Nothing permeated my consciousness. It was essentially cover band bar music in a bar... Loud crowd, loud band... Did not leave humming any tunes..
