  • Five ⭐, even with the sound flaw

    by Manon on 5/9/22Eglise St-Jean-Baptiste - MontréalRating: 5 out of 5

Just the pleasure if seeing and earing Fran, in such a beautiful church, in my city... Worth 5⭐! Some problems with sound but nothing to really fuss about.

  • The venue did Fran dirty

    by Charlotte on 5/9/22Eglise St-Jean-Baptiste - MontréalRating: 3 out of 5

I wasted 2 hours of my time just catching the punch lines. I couldn’t hear anything even when I tried to move closer it didn’t help. Such a disappointment. The venue didn’t do Fran justice.

  • Great Show—Poor Venue Support

by Otiose Padre on 5/9/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

There are very few wits the equal of Fran Lebowitz, and she was in exceptional form in San Diego. The show was fabulous, but the after-show event was where the venu organizers fell down. The book signing was held in the lobby, with no coordination between the event staff and security. Attendees were given conflicting instructions about where to line up, and lines were repeatedly moved to different paths—each time reordering the waiting patrons. Many people stood in a line for an hour only to discover that a second line had been set up and that all those in that line were taken first.

  • The evening went by all to quickly

by SDCyclist on 5/6/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

The quick wit and cogent comments kept the audience in stitches (and occasional reflection) for well over the advertised 90 minutes. Ms. Lebowitz is and has always been authentic in her persona, accurate in her observations and spot on with her commentary and a total delight!

Excellent show, very entertaining. Fran is very sharp and interesting.

  • FRAN WAS FABULOUS!

by Robin in San Diego on 5/6/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

WISH SHE DIDN'T HAVE WRITER'S BLOCK THOUGH. I'D LOVE TO HEAR MORE FROM HER.

  • Sound was not quality. Hard to hear and understand what was

by Concoe on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

Fran was great I think questions from the audience were total inaudible.

  • Thoroughly Enjoyable

by Janet G on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Fran is witty and charming. Enjoyed hearing her remarks very much. Only problem was the second half of show...not being able to hear the questions from the audience was annoying.

  • Thoroughly enjoyable!

by Diva D on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

It was a pleasure to be in the presence of such an intelligent observer. Fran Lebowitz made me laugh, despair, and hope all in one night. The leg room in the balcony at the Balboa Theater is abysmal - I had to straddle the seat in front of me. Won’t be sitting up there again. Still, Fran was great and I’m glad I got to see her!

  • She was great, interviewer not!

    by D. B. on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Not sure why Mathew hall was chosen to interview Fran, he appeared to know little about her & admitted to a crash info research session the night before to know more about her. She saved the night of course but wish someone else would have been chosen, he spoke a lot about himself which was ridiculous because we didn’t come to see him speak we wanted her to talk.

  • An hour away, but so worth the drive to see Fran!

by on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan since I was a child and first discovered Fran in the pages of Interview magazine. Then I remember seeing her for the first time on David Letterman. The connection was instant and I have been a fan forever. I am nearing 50 now and I finally had the opportunity to see her live on stage. She is amazing and so quick witted. Everything you've read about her, is true! She is a joy to listen to and such a great orator. I can take Fran off my bucket list of things to do before 50. I hope to see her again, and I will take my family next time. Every generation needs to be in the room with Fran at least once in their lifetime.

  • A Bicoastal State of Mind

by Cheryl the Music Lover on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Nice venue, a roomful of like-minded people, and a witty conversationalist add up to a fun night out. Fran Lebowitz is bright, funny and quick as a whip. She riffs on whatever’s happening and graciously lets the audience in on the joke. I would highly recommend this show to those who haven’t swallowed the big lie. Anyone who is familiar with critical thinking will enjoy her company as well.

A fantastic opportunity to enjoy an amazing evening!

  • Fran was amazing!!!

by Patrick C on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

She is witty and intelligent. Her humor is harsh but not cruel and her perspective it’s undeniable! I only wish we could have had her for a dinner party!

  • Disappointing

by Mlonthebeach on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

Although it was wonderful to see Fran in person, the Balboa Theatre had terrible stage lighting & sound. Could barely see her, and we were in the 2nd row, or hear/understand her. Even the man asking questions was difficult to hear/understand. Mics we’re not good quality so the sound sounded muffled. (There’s nothing wrong with my hearing either). With tix prices being so high, the basic theatre lighting & sound should be high quality. We’ve gone to this theatre often but don’t be going back unless they fix these problems.

  • Wrong venue

by Zeek on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

She is a treasure but the venue is too large for her.

  • Fran was terrific…

IWe had a great time. I would just like to recommend a Mike for questions from the audience.

  • Didn't want it to end

by gsarda on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I am a fan of Fran Lebowitz and was looking forward to seeing her. She did not disappoint. It really felt like she was inviting us into her world. She speaks clearly and doesn't hold back, and her talent is sharing her opinions without stooping to insults or negativity. She was interviewed for a half hour and then she took questions from the audience for a little over an hour. It was my husband's and my first time being out at a public venue since Covid hit and we were happy that it was to see her. The show was fulfilling on many levels and she left us with wanting more, not surprisingly.

  • Fran is a Gem

by DA on 5/5/22Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Seriously entertaining. She works it- has great energy & talks about most thing bluntly. Very enjoyable & unfiltered.

  • She’s Fabulous! I’d Return! Witty, Funny, a real character!

by Fran’s Biggest Fan on 4/23/22Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

For a longer term fan, I am impressed that she wasn’t repeating the same stories even when some of the questions were similar. For a fan who has watched most hours and hours of Fran‘s interviews, I could anticipate how she’d answer many questions, but they were canned responses. She was lovely to meet for the book signing. Thanks for that by the way...so much better than stalking her. LOL
